  1. There is no fix to this current state of methane inhaling. Pelini needs to go SOONER rather than later. He can't put a solid staff together and his coaching is a complete joke. I will not watch Martinez make a mockery of NU football again. He needs to quit football, should have played safety and seen if he was tough enough..... too late for him. He just needs to quit. I've never been so embarrassed, Callahan/Cozgrove, Pelini/whoever he BSs into coaching with him and Tom & Jerry.... all the same except Tom and Jerry can be funny....

  2. There may be serious NCAA sanctions coming for Oregon soon. The investigation is winding down and almost complete so.... we will see.

I have been following Oregon and NCAA violations - what are they looking into and is stuff that would fall directly on Kelly's shoulders?

If it does fall on Kelly's shoulders, how does that effect his job in the NFL? The Eagles HC position? The NFL has already set the precident that they can and will punish for actions prior in college with the Tressel and Pryor situation.

I don't think Pete Carroll didn't suffer any repercussions when he bolted for the NFL as soon as USC was getting hammered.

Most of what I have seen is recruiting violations involving a recruiting service, the money $25000.00 and how the recruits were transported, on who's dime and was it official or not... but I am no authority on the matter. I will say the NCAA tried to sit down and work with Oregon over the allegations. Kind of like a mediation prior to the end of the investigation and Oregon failed to live up to their part bad enough the NCAA walked a way.... Bad start to that process...

  3. Cody didn't get a fair chance to compete for the position.... Nobody did or will. Martinez is all stats. I can't ever remember a Husker QB running out of bounce 3 yards short on third down, or sliding while running the option, or sliding near the sideline for a 4 yard loss instead of throwing it away....... Starting every game no matter how bad the game gets or how many fumbles or interceptions you throw = stats. Would have been a good safefy, not a QB. There is a reason we were the only team in the nation to offer him as QB... For whatever reason, Martinez is and will be the starter no matter what, Unless he is too injured to actually walk. Not good for the team and certainly not a good plan to win championships of any kind.

  4. As far as coaching goes... This staff has nothing on Callahan / Cosgrove.... absolutely clueless and loyal to the point they are blind to winning or loosing. We have NO quarterback or quarterback coaching. A defensive coordinator that resembles Mr Magoo. And a Great Defensive coordinator as a head coach...... Can't recruit and can't put together even a half decent staff. I don't know if I can watch the Martinez circus for antoher year. For the first time i my life, I wil have to decide if I can continue to watch this complete vomitting of stupidity!!! DAMMMIT!

  5. Remember this was the sping game.....

I say we give a helmet sticker to Ron Kellog III. Possibly the best passer we have. It was fun to watch and I hope he gets some mop up duty this year. He works very hard and I hope the opourtunity arisses.

He reminds me of Mat Turman, as far as the line up goes. I hope we don't end up with a rash of injuries and he has to save the game, but it would be great to see him come out and win one for us, just like the turmanator. LOL Just a fun thought....

  6. I honestly don't think it matters, who is the QB. We need a QB coach, I believe we have plenty of talent and NO coaching. It really is that easy, I don't see any of them being developed, in fact they are going backwards and will with this guy.

  7. That's the best post I can remember. I really needed that, Thank you! I realy had the bad taste of texas swamp water durring this year and disapointment over that game. Ive been saying the same things you posted, all year, but forgot it after that performance in the B12 CCG.

Thanks again, I can't wait for the Big 10 matchups.

  8. I love to watch college football. Love to root for my Huskers. But honestly, the goings on of the last couple years has soured me on it all.

From the split up of the Huskers and the big 12, and all the drama from :01 to today's bad bowl assignment. To Reggie Bush, Cam Newton and every other scandal surrounding the game..

It's hard enough to worry about the on field stuff. I'm exhausted from caring about all the off field stuff.

I've never been glad a season was over before. But I am this year. I need a break and hopefully will regain my spirit next year.

Yeah, I feel College football has sort of been blemished over the past few years, and I think the BCS and the Bowls and the polls are part of it.

It's not as pure as it should be. I do think it'll help to get in to the Big Ten, hopefully more positive energy.

Unfortunately, and for the first time in my life, I feel the same way. I've never felt so wronged and disapointed. This year was a nightmare with an unforgetable ending. I can't seem to get excited for the bowl game. What do we even gain from beating or loosing to Washington? And I can't believe I feel this way. If we would have lost that last game by being outmaned or had less talent, I could stomach that, I don't believe that to be the case. I've been on the Bo wagon since he got here, but that game actually changed my feelings towards the entire coaching staff, and I really hope it changes again. This bowl game just isn't as big as that game was. I'll watch it on TV, im sure. But I told the wife, I don't care to go to the bowl game, I just can't get very excited for it.

  9. Be careful what you wish for, that's all I say.

The moment that Martinez was named the starter Watson had 2-3 weeks to develop a scheme that a redshirt freshman would succeed in. And you know what? He did a pretty darn good job, in fact we destroyed Washington, KSU, OSU and Missouri in the first half with that scheme and young QB. Scored more points on those teams than any other team all year, but once Taylor got hurt we were in trouble, we didn't have another QB that matched his talents with his legs. That combined with Bo's insistance on playing Taylor at 60-70% of his health made an ugly end to the season.

I say hats off to Shawn Watson for developing such a potent offense early in the year with a QB that very few thought would ever take a meaningful snap at QB for a BCS level program.

I respect your opinion of this situation but have another thought on the matter. I have no issue with wats going..... wherever. Out of all the QBs NU has, we have ONE that can play? We did not develope any other player enough to play D1 football? I believe Martinez had the speed before he got here, I don't believe the development is there. He is using raw talent and when that failed, he didn't know what to do. (Who's our QB coach???? (sarcasm)) He's gotta go. There is plenty of talent and he's had more than enough time to get an offense together that doesn't implode.

The bottom line, for me, is our offense is consistently shooting themselves in the foot when the game really counts, we can't develope even one QB enough to come close to his potential, and there are more excuses than anywhere I've seen. After this BG12 debacery, I for one have lost all confidence in Wats. I've seen other coaches take linebackers, safties, and corners and coach them into pretty solid QBs. We get top tier QBs out of highschool and can't even get them to the point where they can relieve the suposed starter.... In college sports, you produce or you get off the pot, its that simple. I agree with giving a coach a chance and a resonable, possibly more than resonable time to get his scheem working. I think we are boardering on way too much time and I have lost faith in Wats ever producing a consistent top tier offence, regardless of the recruits.

Then again, my feathers may be a bit ruffled. This last game was more important than any game I've seen in the last 10 years. These kids could have won that game with a better coach. That opourtunity ran down his leg in a yellow stream and that defines it for me. Talk about the fumbles, turn overs, playcalling.... whatever, its the same old song and dance every year.

  10. Shouldn't it be 2.0 :dunno

    .02 is 2 cents. :)

But you're right walksalone, Watson seems like a broken record at times. Nothing changes in terms of play calling.

    Like I previously stated...

    1) When something starts working offensively, do the exact opposite (running between the tackles)

    2) When something isn't working, keep doing it over and over (zone read)

    Thats what is killing us...

That pretty much sums it up!

  11. What the heck happened to the bowls this year?!?

Its like they somehow managed to build a bowl season with the most uninteresting match-ups imaginable.

Maybe I'm still numb from yesterdays loss, but college football's postseason looks pretting damn boring this year.

    espn.com bowl list

This is the first time in my life I can actually say, I'm not real excited about any of them. The B12 championship was the biggest disapointment I can remember in College football. (for me) And Oregon playing for the national champ????? I refuse to watch that garbage.

  12. If Watson does leave (and he will have to leave because I don't think Bo will fire him), who becomes our next OC?

I have no clue, but am interested in some of the names you might come up with.

I really don't know who we can get, but If I made the money Bo does and was a head coach at the University of Nebraska, I had better have an idea. Hopefully one that actually makes a QB Better? And can stick with what works? I, for one, am sick of watching dismal failure under wats...

  13. I didn't even log on yesterday. I was very disapointed. That was a very winable game and the coaching sank us.

I've tried not to get down on coaches too much but WOW.

I believe Martinez can be a very good QB. He needs much better coaching and possibly some play calling that is more sutable to his strengths. I also believe our offense has had more than ample time to get better and develope. It simply hasn't happened and excuses are like rear ends, everyone has one, nobody wants to hear them! I hate to say this but, if we can't find a competent OC then I guess we are stuck with a very good defensive coordinator as a head coach. That was embarrasing, another year of an enept offense with serious talent within it.......

  14. Poor Ben Cotton. I'm sure he wishes this subject is never brought up again. But...

In my conversation earlier this evening with Dan Beebe, I asked him about the play involving Cotton and Tony Jerod-Eddie from last Saturday's game at Texas A&M.

For reference, I asked Beebe about the play in which a player from Texas A&M was "jabbing at the testicles" of a player from Nebraska. I used those exact words, as that is how interpreted that play.

Was that a play that was reviewable, and was there ever any punishment considered? Does the Big 12 condone such action?

    Here's Beebe's response:

"Well, first of all, I think if you look at it carefully, it wouldn't be what you characterized," he said.

How would Beebe characterize that play, then?

"Well, if you think it was that (jabbing at testicles), we'll just have to disagree. I don't think it was in that manner. And didn't the Nebraska player say he was just trying to get to the ball?"

    Yes.

    "Yeah."

Beebe later said the Big 12 does review plays and things that happen throughout the course of a game, and will privately handle some matters with ADs or coaches, telling them they need to pay attention to particular play or actions by some players. He wouldn't confirm or deny if that was the case with Jerod-Eddie.

I also asked if he would comment on the roughing the passer call against Courtney Osborne.

"No, not specifically. I'm bound by rules not to be able to comment, even if I'd like to, on various penalties."

You have no idea how badly I want this weasel to be on stage with a trophy in his hand standing next to a waiting Bo Pelini next week. Un-be-lievable.:bs:

I half want to see Bo say "hold on to this", give the B12 trophy back to him and do celebrate with the team and not even listen to any stupidity being puked from bebebebes yap.

  15. Listening to Unsportsmanlike Conduct on the web, said this crew will do Bedlam on Saturday and likely will give the South the trophy ......err, officiate the CCG

If this same crew is selected to officiate the CCG, i wouldnt be opposed to forfeiting in protest. That is if we even make it past the officials this week.

That would be sooo wrong. Forfitting would be wrong for our players, fans and the University. But, in theroy only, wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in the face for the B12 to win the north and refuse to play in the last B12 championship, in the foreseeable future.(maybe even better than taking it with us to the B10) LOL LOL I'd love to see the B12 get the respect they show "most" of the teams in the leage. Just in theroy of course.
