  1. You guys are being blatantly and inappropriately harsh on the guy.

Back on topic, when Roy was completely healthy, I think his running style was even better this year. The VT game is a good example, still had plenty of the same speed and gashing/slashing that we've come to know but he could lower the shoulder as well.

If he can be healthy (I don't know if it's possible), the guy will make a career for himself in the league, no doubt in my mind.

Agreed! The only issue is, if he can stay healthy.

  2. Although alot of new recruits think they can come in and play, very few do. As far as Rome's weight, I don't think that is a problem and we have had D ends heavier. If he truely runs a 4.7..... I don't think that is a problem as long as the first step is quick. Coaching will take care of the technique. I think this kid has a real shot at contributing early.

  3. Riley ends speculation at OSU and signs a 3 year extension.

Mike Riley signed a 3 yr extension and aparently every bow game adds a year to the extention. The goal is to have a life time contact for Riley.

This may have an inpact on OO. He said he would rule out Oregon State if Riley left because he felt it would have been a lie. OO was told by Riley, the coach would be there for him, for his entire college carreer.

  4. His role in their D is to take up 2 lineman..not make tackles...they run a 3-4 not a 4-3

That was actually Suh's role this year to. that was the original plan anyway. I believe I heard the anouncers say NU had 9 sacks and I'm not sure if bama had even one all game. There was a fumble and a few hurries but i don't know that any of them counted as sacks....

  5. Seriously. McCoy isn't even in a sling. Why is he not out there? Forget the NFL... this is the biggest game of his life.

    :flush

He just quit.... and it isn't the first time. Does anyone remember when Texas AM beat them? He quit in that game too. He basically said the hell with the fans, team mates, coaches and the university.... I'm going pro. What an embarrasement to the game. Unfrigginbelievable! I would not want him involved with my team in any way. There is no room for that crap in football.

  6. Thought not kneeling on the 2nd to last drive to make the game appear to be a blowout showed little class from 'Bama. I think if McCoy had played Texas may have won. I'm officially not a fan of Saban. After all the teams he's abandoned, etc. I'm firm on my stance that he's a prick. It's time for NU to come back and show the SEC what we showed them in 95,97,99. I'm sick of the Big 12 being 2nd every year.

I fully agree and was saying the same thing while that display of douchery was going on.

That was after and before my complete and total amazement of Mcoy's spraining of his mangina.... wth, this game was as strange as they come. Why not have a grease ball in a pink and white shirt prove ugliness is not just skin deep.

    :snacks:

  7. Very true about the injury. In fact, it seems to be more negative than positive when guys do return......no stats too back that up, just sayin...

But, didn't Suh have shoulder surgery early in his career? But, he did have more than a year to reach full speed again.

Suh had knee surgery.... (I'm pretty sure it was his first year) But, I think the point being made was, a great number of kids with injuries are not able to come back mentally or phisically. It takes a special person to come back 100%.

  8. All the fear that we have about Kansas becoming a Big 12 threat are the same fears that everyone else was having when the Pelini's came to Nebraska.

You can't fault a program for improving itself and hopefully it will make Nebraska stronger in the long run.

I'm excited to have the Big 12 North return to relevance. We can't do that all by ourselves and everyone knows that Colorado and Mizzou aren't going to be any real help either

I really don't think that Turner going to Kansas is going to make them any kind of Big 12 threat.

I wouldn't bet the bank on that. Gill is a great coach and knows how to get the best out of his players. Take a look at Buffalo and what he has accomplished there. At the very least the character of that team will be outstanding. Just remember, he was a big part of the scorring explosion at NU that was widely regarded as the best offense in college football, ever. He knows his offense, can get very good assistants, is a great QB coach, and is no joke with his knowledge of defense. I have a huge amount of respect for the man. I wish nothing but the best for him, except when his team plays NU of course. I only wish he was our OC.

  9. Camron seems to be able to chase people down from behind a little better too. I don't know what his 40yrd speed is, but that 10 yard burst seems REALLY fast. I've been thouroghly impressed. Hopefully he has a bright future.

    GBR!

  10. Ive had a few friends say they watched him play this year and weren't real impressed. I didn't see any of his games, that is just what they said to me????

I would believe this, it is not easy to hear about a star player and then watch a high school game and pick out the small great things that player does.

I have broke down tape for 10 years and I can tell you that its hard to do, so for a fan at the game, trust me its hard to see whats always going on.

That doesnt mean he didnt play great but you could imagine a fan wanting to see this kid get 5 sacks, 15 tackles and knock a kid out of the game. Well, thats really hard to do. So maybe the kid had a game where he had 1 or 2 sacks and 8 tackles and it doesnt "look so great".

That's what I was thinking and even brought it up. His comment was that he didn't seem to put 100% in this game. But, that could mean a bad game, fatigue or this guy just doesn't have realistic expectations (like you said). Again, I wasnt there, this guy just wasn't real excited about the possibilities. He did say the kid is huge and has legs like a tree trunk, and with some coaching, he has alot of potential. I just found the conversation interresting.

  11. funky throwing motion. reminds me of kellers push-throw. hes definitely more agile than sam though.

God, I hope so. Keller looked like a midget in a long jump contest. He was moving really fast, going nowhere and you just knew something bad was going to happen..... (only without the funny) :snacks:

  12. The plain simple fact of the matter is... I've seen teams with a hell of a lot less talent play a hell of a lot better...

Green could be a star by now, given a good coach, an offense that doesn't take a 3 year player to learn, and a O-line that has a coach that can actually put a line together and get them to play together. Every one of our linemen would thrive with better coaching, they are all athletic and huge.

Bo took a bottom of the barrel defense and now look at them. I don't think anyone would argue the difference is coaching. Watsons record as a OC is not good and will not be. Has Cotton ever coached an O-line and the offese got better???? not that I can find!

  13. Pellini is a Defesive coach... our O coaching is a bad fit and bad direction. Cody is no different than any other true freshman... infact prob better than most. He, even said he know's about half the offense and when asked how many plays he was comfortable with, his answer was "about 270"...... enough said??? WTH do we need 540 plays for??? We need a OC that is not a lingering effect of an overblown ego. Hell maybe we can get one that can teach QBs to play and maybe, just possibly, one that could evaluate the performance of the assistants under him. He shouldn't call a coach that cannot get it done, "the best coach in football"... most teams would love to have the guys on our O-line and to be honest.. Cody would be kicking some serious A** if he played for a team that could coach him in a "learnable" system.... Ive seen linbackers converted to QB and were/are VERY successfull, just in the last couple years...

Sorry just a little pissed over our production. :dunno:dunno

  14. I think we were robbed by our OC and O-Line coaches. If we had any worth there weight in Dogsh** we wouldn't have to count of the defense to stop the other team, take the ball back AND score.... Most of these kids would thrive with better coaching... the talent is there, the coaching is not.
