Players to meet Tuesday afternoon

Nebraska football players will gather at 4 p.m. Tuesday. But Tim Cassidy, NU’s director of football operations, cautioned fans and media not to read too much into it.

Cassidy told the Journal Star on Monday that players will vote for the team MVP, discuss academics and the team’s annual banquet.

“We would be doing this whether there were a coaching change or not,” Cassidy said. “There’s nothing significant, other than we always come together at the end of the season.

“We want a good pulse on the kids. We want to make sure they’re handling their business as well.”

All current players, including this year’s seniors, received text messages on Monday afternoon from Cassidy inviting them to attend.

This will be the first chance for the team to get together since Saturday’s firing of Bill Callahan.

“I just assumed, because everyone wasn’t able to get together (Saturday), that they’d bring us together one more time,” said senior linebacker Bo Ruud. “I haven’t heard if it’s a coach or anything like that.”

 

If this happens people are going to look at BC with very little respect, he will be lucky to pull an Ohio Bobcat type job after all this.

I hear A&M is looking for a new coach.

His bro even feels that some of the coaching staff doesnt care anymore. Prob cuz a lot of them know they are gonna be fired.

 

and it sounds like that if some changes are not made ... several guys are talking about transfering.

i understand that ... that is why i said take what you want from it. im not gonna say who it was ... i will say he doesnt play much (some special teams)

I just got off the phone with a telemarketer who said that not only can I save money on my car insurance, but that NU coaches will be fired and game plans are going to change.

Did he offer any of our coaches a job???

Probably not. We only have 5 games left. Up until now I would have bet only Coz and a couple defensive assistants would go, especially after our AD just gave Callahan an extension. But at this point anything can happen.

I don't think it'll happen, but at this point I have to admit I'd be pleased if it did. I guess Watson or Gilmore could take over the offense, but who would we get to step up and be DC? I mean just about every one on the defensive staff needs to be replaced.

If we aren't going to get any real yardage out of the passing game we might as well put Ganz in. At least he can get some yardage with wheels.
