Are the Huskers looking into these guys yet?
It would be sort of discouraging as a Husker fan if they weren't. OU, a power 5 school, recruiting kids only 45 minutes away from Lincoln.

We would love to have him, tell him to come talk to me (Coach Siecke) or Coach Mingo if he has questions.
Awesome! Is he planning on running track this year?Chris has an offer to SDSU already and probably many more coming. Nick is an absolute freak athlete. One of the best sprinters on my track team. Axl, who is your son? I teach/coach at Burke, you can PM me if you want.

I want him to.
Definitely. I believe Coach Donahue has spoken with him a while back.

Thanks to Coach Bedenbaugh of @SoonerFootball for flying in to meet @hickmanchris1 and @nickhenrich_42 today!! Huge futures for these 2.
Boy, those are 2 old looking teens
😂😂😂

No. But he played youth with these 2. Look out for this 2019 class though. The QB broke the single game passing yards record this past season.

An OU coach was in town (Omaha) meeting with 2 players from the c\o 2019 at Burke High School.

To the OP, I am not sure what grade your son is in and I have no idea about his abilities, but work with his coach and be realistic at where he can fit at the college level. If he really wants to play college football, be ready to look at the FCS and then D-2 schools in the area. There is nothing wrong with going that route, especially if he can get part or all of his college paid for.
Yes definitely. He'll be a Jr.next year but has lettered both Fr and Soph year at a NE class A school. 3rd team all metro and All State honorable mention as a sophmore. We've hit a number of camps last year locally. What I like about FCS camps is that there are quite a few DII and NAIA coaches that attend to look at players. We did do FNL last summer too.
-
So wasn't a camp so to speak? Does NU still do it?

Yes, there are a multiple numbers (GPA, ACT/SAT scores, etc.) that colleges will look at when determining entrance requirements, and athletes (especially the top ones) are given lowerr standards than the average student.
But do non-athletes get "recruited"?

I have always thought that 3.0's were GOOD.

I've heard he has a stronger leg than Alex Henery (also from Burke) did at the same age.It looks like Cole Frahm, Kicker from Burke HS is also walking on.
Watched Cole play the last two seasons at Burke and he has a leg.

I liked Ray Lewis's comment...only I don't believe that he said that to Sapp.

I'm starting to think that it's the culture and not so much coaching or Talent. The football program in Lincoln has too many bells and whistles with the luxury facilities. The Husker football team is treated like rockstars when they have not deserved any of it as of recent. I think players come here and they get too complacent.
-
Anyone notice Tommy arrive wearing a red Nebraska hoodie, but changed to all black before running back to the field to the sideline.
-
I don't like being in the Big 10 because it makes our players slow footed.
-
It's open to players up to 18 years old but I'd assume it will mostly be youth.
-
Do coaches from FCS or below attend Nebraska's Friday Night Lights camps?
-
Nebraska fails the eyeball test miserably. Gotta long ways to go. And then need a miracle.
-
That sucks.

I don't know if 12 practices in December is really a huge deal come August...I have some mixed views on that. I think it is what you/they are doing from the end of the bowl game until spring that probably matters more.
12 guitar lessons wont make me Jimi Hendricks
No, but you should be able to at least play Little Wing.

Not sure if this is the right section since this is not really football related. But we know for a H.S. athlete to even get to sniff any kind of athletic scholarship, they have to have success at their H.S. career. I have noticed all of these AAU, and traveling programs that really were not so abundant when I was a kid. And H.S. teams are recruiting from these programs. In fact, there is one school that comes to mind in Omaha who's assistant coach coaches one of these AAU teams and then tries hard to bring that entire 8th grade team to the H.S. that he coaches. A friend of mine paid literally thousands during her daughter's 7th and 8th grade year to play on a travelling volleyball team. It did pay off for her because her freshman year, she lettered on Varsity.
I understand that the more you play at a high competition level, the more you set yourself up for success at the next level. But is there any way around spending thousands to play at a high level or to get noticed by H.S. coaches? The only sport that I could see would be track! My son got a track scholarship. He put the time in himself and we paid for off season entry fees (min. expense).
Due to HS politics, you will see more coaches following AAU more than HS. A friend of mine's daughter was sitting the bench on the HS team, but because AAU she got a DII scholarship. It was higher offer than the other Sr. who started on varsity.
