  1. Not sure if this is the right section since this is not really football related. But we know for a H.S. athlete to even get to sniff any kind of athletic scholarship, they have to have success at their H.S. career. I have noticed all of these AAU, and traveling programs that really were not so abundant when I was a kid. And H.S. teams are recruiting from these programs. In fact, there is one school that comes to mind in Omaha who's assistant coach coaches one of these AAU teams and then tries hard to bring that entire 8th grade team to the H.S. that he coaches. A friend of mine paid literally thousands during her daughter's 7th and 8th grade year to play on a travelling volleyball team. It did pay off for her because her freshman year, she lettered on Varsity.

I understand that the more you play at a high competition level, the more you set yourself up for success at the next level. But is there any way around spending thousands to play at a high level or to get noticed by H.S. coaches?

  2.

    It makes sense.

Given he did more with less statement, the thought was a coach of his expierence could come into Nebraska and win right away, and I was not expecting 10-12 win seasons, I thought the first year was a 7-8 win type season, then we progressed the following years. But, instead, somehow this man has completely failed and this is suddenly the worst Nebraska team in the last 40 years. And Callahan was here not too long ago!

I figured after the hire Riley was here at max 5 years, regardless of success because he is 62. I figured he would come in and we would feel good about the first year and he would start to have his success, then retire...Then we have to rebuild again.

Those saying let him have 4 years. Ok? So we rebuild in 4 years? Or just admit the mistake now, adn rebuild immediately. Plus, with how bad this season is, next year is a rebuilding year anyways. Just move on here. No need to keep a failure around.

I think the only more with less MR is doing is losing more games in less time than any other Husker coach in history.
  3. Um...no. Being very familiar with DB's "coaching" credentials at Omaha Northwest I can see how he feels a bit of kinship with MR. They both like to bury their heads in the sand and hope problems will sort themselves out and can never figure out why every opponent they face takes full advantage of their vulnerable position and puts foot to ass.

DB's "successes" have always been under someone else's calls. He's never been good at sorting out head and heart issues. He'll always go with his "feeling" over what facts tell him, especially when someone else pays the piper.

He's got the ideal position now as a talking head/radio troll where very little backsplash will ever reach him. Maybe Gameday will come looking for MR to replace Corso? Now there's a reason to hope. :cowbell:

To be fair, Tom Osborne could coach Northwest and that wouldn't make a difference.

  4. I'm looking at a local High School course catalog and there is a section that talks about D1 requirements for the NCAA. It says there are 16 core courses needed. It says 4 years of additional courses. That means 4 years of foreign language. That's crazy. I don't know any non athlete that took that many foreign language classes let alone athletes.

  5. My son was invited to the Football University Combine in KC this weekend. He has never been timed on a 40yd dash before until this day. He's 14, in 8th grade and ran a 5.10 (HH) and a 5.16 (HH).

What I'm asking for is if anyone knows how to critique, his stance, his form,...etc. We both believe that he could have done better. 5.00 or possibly 4.9. Take a look and any feedback is much appreciated.
