Good to see a bunch of kids playing a real sport and not being tied to mommies apron.

Yeah because they are getting so much out of tackle football at that age. Lol.
Hopefully they play in a headsup league. And from years of working with kids in sports at a young age I know that they learn lots. If you are

worried about your child playing tackle football perhaps she can learn organizational skills by being an equipment manager.

I am a HUGE proponent of youth sports. It teaches sportsmanship, teamwork, winning/losing, etc. My son plays youth sports nearly year round. I am not sure what age group the OP's son is in, but I don't think tackle football is necessary until at least the middle school level. That's all my point is. I watched a friend's son play tackle football with 8-9 year olds. It was the most worthless game ever. If my son is a "girl" for playing soccer at this point, I guess I can look at changing his name.
Didn't know your boy played soccer. It's certainly a sport that can get the kids in shape and doesn't require weight training which shouldn't

be started any sooner than the second year of high school and is certainly better than getting fat while working on manual dexterity. 6th gradeis a perfect time to start tackle football.

Why shouldn't weight training be started until 2nd year of HS? Any certified strength coach etc etc would disagree with that statement

I'm reluctant to let him now cause I don't want to stunt his growth.

He just finished playing youth football and will begin H.S. this Fall. He started off playing flag football when he was 7. Tackle when he was 9. I think most leagues in Omaha are Heads Up Certified. I believe the league that he was in was the 1st to get H.U. certified.

I am just wondering why those of you would response to Bo may or may not of been offered the job? Many here on the board were very glad he was fired. Again, another chance for some to get in a last boot comment. I would start worrying about what this new HC can do in the future.

How about we do a little comparison of the two coaches?

I'm shamelessly stealing this post from another board.

    Then there's this:

    2008:

    Nebraska D- 18 4* or better recruits

    OSU D- 7 4* or better recruits

    2012:

    OSU D- 3 4* or better recruits

Sooooooooooo Banker did better in 5 of 8 games with 63 less 4* recruits.

That's pretty much what everybody that knows this coaching staff says: "Does more with less."

We did nit have that many 4* recruits. Which recruiting site are you following?

We are senior citizens and have enjoyed Big Red football ever since Bob Devaney came in 1962 -- 334 football games.

We think the new stadium sound system is great; however, it was so loud we could hardly talk to each other. People could probably hear it in Crete!

Come on. Turn it down halfway, and by the way it would be nice to have some wonderful music instead of all this hip-hop hogwash ... the kind that Dr. Tom Osborne could enjoy.

  5. On a few of his assistant coaches making him feel unwelcome:

Once everyone found out, several coaches made it very clear to me that I wasn't welcome. I would say the majority of how they made it known that I was unwelcome was through non-verbal communication—body language, looks—but there was definitely some verbal things at times.

I have a guess at a certain position coach who might have been "unwelcoming."

Who? Ron Brown wasn't there a that time.
