Our fan base is Not impatient. It’s embattled. It’s embarrassed and rightfully so pretty pissed off. I have no doubt he will let Riley finish the year. Is that a mistake? I think so

don't deem him a fool at all.. only those with their own agenda and not the best interest of NU as a whole, would call him that.
I respectfully disagree. There is no reason NOT to fire him. Letting Riley stay accomplishes nothing. Some say neither does firing him. Yet inability to act when your house is on fire in my opinion makes you a fool. You do Something!!! You say Riley will not be back. Inability to make a decision gives most Husker fans pause that once again they will make another horribly spectacular bad decision. Once again my opinion

Moos has put himself in impossible position
eithier he fires riley and he is deemed a liar or he doesn’t and is deemed a fool.
He has to cut out the cancer...now. I’m seriously worried sellout steak ends at Iowa game

Tenn just fired their coach. And we still have our giant nice failure. I’m ready to storm castle with pitchforks.

We suck. The end
-
“Turn out the light the parties over. It’s time for all good things to end”. Nail in Riley’s coffin. This team has given up defensively.

Dilly dilly. I think your correct in your assumptions

That off the wall pick could be retaining Riley cause he couldn’t secure Frost. Fans will revolt. All I know is that it seems he has painted himself in a corner by not ditching Riley now. But
-
If true. My opinion but Husker Nation implodes upon itself. Most will hate who moos picks. I think if this happens that Riley stays. Then all hell breaks loose. Only pick moos can do that we give a chance is Frost. But this guy seems to do what HE wants. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we get another off the wall pick

Doesn’t 4 mill a year seem low? Doesn’t he make 3 at UCf or was it 2 mill?

I have done some research and listened to podcast over again. I’m starting to change my opinion that Moos will bring Riley back.
Now or starting to believe that he will not. Thanks all for making some good points

from someone very very high in the University side- not in the AD. Just hasn't been released to the press yet. Anyone else hear this too? I didn't get a specific timeline as to when it would be announced but the decision apparently has already been made.
Ooh please let it be true!!!!!

Nothing Sock? Come on!
Sock. You must have heard something by now.

Wanted others opinions but got distinct impression that he will not make a quick decision (even though I believe the choices are obvious) that he needs to quickly.
It was my impression that he has every intention of retaining Riley. I don’t know what everyone else’s opinion but that’s what I got out of it. Trust me I wanted a different view but that is what I derived.
Anyone hear the interview and thought the same or different??

I truly believe we will lose the Scott Frost sweepstakes. Inability to strike while the iron is hot will doom us to another year of milk toast mike.
You can’t fire a coach mid season?? Florida just did and guarantee you they are looking hard at frost or chip Kelly.
The impressive win win we had vs the mighty Purdue boilermakers is surely enough justification to keep nice mike right??? Right???
I don’t wish it to be true. But if Frost gets taken before end of year. We will get nice mike year 4. And what an impressive year it will be (sarcasm included)
may at god bless us if that happens. We might not win 4 games. I truly hope to be wrong, but only time will tell. And time is a factor my friends. Mark my words

Sock. Oooh keeper of the yarn. Please give us an update if u have any. Any talks about Riley and status or future coach or goals to be met?

You influence by not attending games or buying gear. You let your voice be heard. Your allowed to have your opinion but I respectfully disagree with you
You can email president of university, chancellor. Board of regents. You can make change you just have to try. If they choose to do something else then you did something to try to make a change. But if your happy with how we are now, how we are perceived and coached at this moment. Of course do nothing.

Wrong. Fans don't accept anything good or bad. We follow the team and hope the leaders get us in the right direction. I have no say in the program who we hire or fire. How could I have influenced the program? If it was up to the fans Riley would have never been hired. This sentiment that the it's the fans who "accept mediocrity" fault is BS of the highest proportions. So if all of the fans were only content with championships we wouldn't be in this right now? Highly doubt that. Fans have little power over what happens unless you have big time money you give to the university. Otherwise, no say. It's pretty clear to me that is the case if you see how things have unfolded in the past and just this year. At the end of the day that stadium could be half full week in week out and the athletic department would still be bringing in so much money it wouldn't matter.

Wow. Didn’t know it was this easy to build my soapbox. Normally I’m very easygoing. I apologize. Seeing us suck is no fun

Not good enough for who? You? Did you really expect the Huskers to keep winning 11+ games until the end of eternity?
Those who are accepting of 4-6 losses a year are the fans that let this situation get so bad. Accept Excellence or accept Failure. Those are only two choices in life.

Getting rid of Riley now provides nothing that's beneficial and will only make things worse. These are all his guys, there's no one on this staff who would be that big of a game changer to be interim coach. That also provides AD cover to pursue his coach these next 2 months before the hiring season hits full motion.
Everyone who fears Riley is back next year can throw that concern out the window. There's no way an AD is coming into a situation where football is the only program that matters and not select his guy to peg his success on. As has been discussed, his success 100% hinges on what happens with this football team over the length of his term, there is nooooooooooo way he's hitching his judgement of success to someone the previous AD brought in and was subsequently fired over.
I agree partly with you. Season is over. NOTHING to play for. You have been blown out twice and lost to a Mac team. Blown out at Oregon. Which just got poleaxed by Stanford.
You Think the Ad won’t bring him back. Only way to be sure is can him now. Otherwise a 6-6 coach might be back for a even worse season
logically you you are right. An Ad is gonna bring his guy. But what if Moos thinks Riley is it. Then we are screwed
-
Of course Callahan was not his fault

When Osborne became AD, he said he had a meeting with Callahan and staff. I think we had a similar record as now or close. Paraphrasing, he told them that if they win out they would likely stay on. If they didn’t, he would evaluate. If they went 6-6 or worse, they were fired.
Im not saying that the same expectations apply today for Riley. But TO at least let them finish the season to try and make something happen. It was one of the correct decisions he made as AD.
Then he turned around and hired Mt. Bo. I am not a fan at all of any replacements he has picked since he left. He started the 4 loss is ok club with Coach Solich. Once he lost Toms players the losing began. It just got worse with Callahan and went back to 4 loss is ok club with Bo. Here is a tip. 4 losses mean you are not good enough
Tenn fires coach and we still have our giant failure

Parella. It’s addition by subtraction. You get rid of Riley and it shows fan base you care. Right now it appears that moos will wait irregardless of how this team or coach performs. It screams apathy. They don’t care so why should we???
