  1. Was awesome to see that kind of atmosphere last night!

Bummer about the result.Sadly you could see the end result by the 2nd set.

The Huskers have "elite" level hitters, what they are lacky right now is elite level passing. The lose of Maloney can not be under stated, and I really felt sorry for Hames last night. You hear Cook talk a lot about "in-system and out-of-system", Nebraska rarely forced Stanford out of system, but on the flip side put themselves out of system all night long.

Serve receive will be a major focus in practice the next 10 days.

  2.

This post is spot on - especially "he's popular with the team"

coaching staff couldn't take a chance in the beginning of losing the players by benching one of the teams favorite guys

I think there is one variable we have overlooked. And that is team chemistry. I often ponder if Riley and Langsdorf kept Tommy in there due to his leadership and position in the team social structure. (This also applies to Alex Lewis.)

The social chemistry of this group is an unknown. But incidents like those listed above and our performance this season make me wonder if Riley has total control of the locker room. And therefore feared that benching Tommy, even just to set him straight, might cause the older Bo kids to turn against him. That's probably more fiction than reality but these incidents are tell signs of a larger rumbling issue within the team I think.

    +1

completely agree with both of you. found myself thinking the same things the last couple of weeks.

  3. Reaction is not always over-reaction.

TA is a run first QB, who's drive/competitiveness thinks he can be a passers.

I said this last year and nothing has changed... 15 to 20 throws or less TA is my guy. Anything else your just asking him to be something he is not.

My overreaction: competitive drive never = leadership.

  4.

But, NU is a "win" for a lot of the teams it played while Iowa was a "loss" for all the teams it played.

that makes up 6 wins....but the teams nebraska have played against have 14 more wins than iowa has played.

doen't forget Iowa, still has 3 to play. not a huge deal but will close the gap alittle.

  5. Got a chance to watch the 2nd half again tonight. Really impressed offensively. Both Players and Lang. Saw a ton of 2 TE 2 RB sets. And a nice rythum in the running game. Even well trailing.

I still don't like the series at the goaline. I get we were in hurry up. But totally forgot Mich St gave us a free play as well with the flag. So we had 3 plays be for getting cross/jano in the game.

Again good on the staff for the timeout and changing the personnel.

    GBR!!!

  6. No.

At this point I believe both the previous staff and this staff have put the best option at QB out on the field.

my concern is the disturbing trend that is continuing this year with Tommy's conference play

    Con CMP% YPA TD INT

    2015 35.6 3.97 1 1

    2014 50 7.14 10 9

    2013 49 6.22 6 7

    Total 47.37% 6.36 17 17

    Non-Con CMP% YPA TD INT

    2015 58.9 8.38 11 5

    2014 57.9 8.74 12 3

    2013 62.1 11.45 3 1

    Total 58.77% 8.82 26 9

Kind of feel bad for Tommy... would have loved to see this kid in Georgia Tech's offense.

  7. would like to hear what the story is on Joe Burrow?

Mr Football two years in a row... in Ohio.

    amazing stat's

    6'3" and 215

    4.0 GPA

Starting PG on the basketball team as a freshman. can't be a stiff and play point.

I am sure there is a ton more, that I don't know.

but the really question... what are the Scout/Rivals of the world seeing that rate him out as a 3*?

  8.

Watch him come out and run "his offense" against usc and put up 50 lol

That's what I was thinking and leaving us to wonder, what if?

No... its the perfect win-win for him. offense scores 50... its finally "his offense" for future coaching jobs...

they lay an egg... its the admin's fault for causing the chaos around the program.

  9.

Joe Burrow -- as a reply to Warrior10

    That would be great.

Sheriron Jones... Husker offer and in his top three. Uncommitted

Kyle Kearns... Uncommitted 4* with very few offers yet... but Oregon St is on his list

Brett Rypien... Boise St commit with offer from Oregon St.

or does he try to flip is Oregon St commit James Pensyl

    just some names...

  10.

With the Dillman to H Back news, I wonder who we will see Riley target for QB. Will he look for a pure pocket guy?

    I hope not.

not sure if I hope so or not.

but if he does turn a pretty big name QB recruit after the dead period... that would tell me someone on the staff watched some tape and wasn't sold...

  11.

And something too many of the stanton crowd don't understand is that, and this is from Riley himself, his offense is flexible. It is the sum of its parts so too speak. What ever this offense strengths are that is what they will do. Right now we are a run first team with an option QB. So next years offense isn't that much of a mystery.

thought that this year and what did we get?

Riley has never had a Quarterback rush for more then 200 yards in a season(since 2003). Lets not confuse "Flexible" with all the sudden Riley is going to start running the triple-option.

    .

  12. probably will make a huge difference for all quarterbacks on the roster.

but honestly it might not matter...

2 year starter that's only "+" in the passing game is his deep ball??

    a Walk-on Backup??

The Elite 11 QB that thus far can't bet out either??

a little harsh and far to simplistic...

but I am more then a little interested to see if Riley makes any waves on the recruiting trail at quarterback over the next two months

or if he truly feels he has a quality quarterback on the roster.

  13.

He's done it for YEARS, he knows how to be a HC and a QB coach. I'd be more concerned about a FIRST time HC trying to be a coordinator or a position coach as well. Not a seasoned coach with proven success.

    at Oregon State....

not saying your are wrong and he can't do it. its just a different level now.

yeah, because the ones he put in the NFL in 2005, 2007 and 2010 (Sean Canfield, Matt Moore, and Derek Anderson) just aren't enough....I mean, the Huskers are on so much more of a different level...it's why we've put so many QB's in the NFL right? :sarcasm

    wasn't comparing Oregon State QB's to Nebraska's.

more the general level of the programs/expectations, and the head coach here may need to spend his time focusing on other area's, then coaching the quarterbacks.
