you guys would seriously take a one-off transfer QB who:
1. was mediocre at best at Notre Dame
2. sat out a year due to academic suspension
3. hemorrhages turnovers
4. lost his job to a freshman
over a guy who is entering his third season as a starter and who has spent all that time building up trust, confidence, and affinity with his teammates? why do Husker fans in particular have such consistent disdain for their starting quarterback?

I live about 8 hours away and the Pelini and Martinez years did not have me clamoring to make that far of a trip that's for sure.
should . . . should someone tell him?

Pretty good synopsis, I think.

50-50 is where I'd like it. That's quite a lot of passing.
Assuming we average around 75-80 snaps a game, I don't think I'll be much of a fan of heaving the rock 40 times a game especially in mid to late November.
This gets so overplayed. And its mostly a creation of media and analysts who played down south. Most northern teams made a living in pro-style offenses forever.
Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning get better in November.
In Green Bay, Boston and Denver.
I live in Denver. The weather here is generally quite mild in November and December.
Green Bay and Boston are your only good examples here.
oh okay so just the NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion, then.

every time i switched over to ESPN2 last night all I ever heard was Dan Mullen.
Yep, he was pretty annoying.
Yeah, it was lame that Mullen became the "star of the show" once Ohio State started rolling, but he was the person who would have the most info on Urban, Ohio State, and the Ohio State offense.
I am sure Riley would have been more high-profile if Oregon had been playing better.
that's a great point.

David HorneThis is very cool. I do wonder though, which Husker alum I would rather see in the photo in Jackson's place though? Rozier? A Green? Hmmmm? Who would you all want?
Correll Buckhalter
Matt O'hanlon
Kellen Huston
Joe Ganz
Taylor Martinez
Bill Callahan
Scott Frost
Sam Keller

how are all the grandpas in this thread doing now that gimmicky fast-paced offense kicked stodgy pro-style's ass twice yesterday?

HAYYY MUST BE DEMORNAY
Mike Riley had to be licking his chops watching DPE have the game he had the other night.

Jordan Westerkamp is TEN TIMES the receiver Odell Beckham is.

So despite a weird 2011, he's coached consistently good offenses. Not to mention coaching up Jacquizz Rodgers, Brandin Cooks, and Markus Wheaton enough that the NFL wanted them.
Mannion's Redshirt Freshman season perhaps? They only averaged 21 points per game.
Maybe. Makes me wonder if he got pressed into duty earlier than they wanted due to an injury or something, that's quite the drop off . . . and quite the bounce-back the following year.

@SBN_BillC:
"Langsdorf and Riley created something interesting in Corvallis, based far more around speed and talent on hand than scheme."
"'We've got X studs, we're going to use them in 15 different ways.' RBs caught tons of passes, WRs got carries."

2007: 68th (9-4)
2008: 22nd (9-4)
2009: 10th (8-5)

2011: 98th (3-9)
2012: 18th (9-4)
2013: 33rd (7-6)

I love how he blames the Wisconsin game on negativity from outside the program. Sheer delusion.
yup. he's in his own world, as he always has been.

what riley calls physical in the Pac is nothing more than finesse in the Big......he will learn the hard way.
funny, I seem to recall a Mike Riley-coached Oregon State team toppling the nation's best defense by running right at them.

Take this away from the coaching carousel for a second...what is everyone's thoughts on if Tommy Armstrong is our quarterback moving forward? I'm in up in the air. He hasn't been impressive thus far however its hard to be good behind that offensive line. He has shown some promising signs.
Interesting question, just another aspect that will be intriguing to see how it works out.
I'm inclined to think Armstrong will stay at QB unless the new guy can wrangle another qb to fit their style p.d.q
Maybe Tressel could lure Miller away from tOSU.
i mean . . . he DID recruit him
-
Pressing question... If Tressel is named the coach, will y'all be disappointed if he doesn't wear a sweater vest? Times change.
i hear he's more of a cardigan guy now

The Sock done met his match with The Ginger Assassin. He got the Mother Ship locked down tight. That ship ain't sinkin'. The Source says the Mother Ship bein' watched close and The Ginger Assassin gots people on they best behavior, or else.
The Source says he don't know who, or exactly when, but he say "very, very soon."
Sorry The Sock ain't more helpful these days.

not sure how i feel about him as a human being but it's hard to argue with results.
2006: 12-1
2007: 9-4
2008: 7-6
2009: 10-3
2010: 11-2, conference champ
2011: 11-3, conference champ
2012: 8-5, but still conference champ
imagine how much shop he'd be wrecking with the Gordon/Clement tandem right now.
