  1. I will burn every piece of Husker gear or memoribilia I own, put a For Sale sign in Callahan's yard, contemplate jumping off a building. :sarcasm I will do what I always do. Go to work, spend time with my fiance, friends and family and have a good time talking about anything and everything Husker. 0-4, I don't really see it happening, but still, it won't be the end of the world. Last year got pretty rough in the middle too.

    :yeah

I agree I would not do anything drastic. Being a fan is about winning and losing. Of course I would be a little ticked about everyone having their way with the skers, but that's as far as my reaction goes. I'm going to wonder what lies ahead for the team and coaches to get back on track. :thumbs

  2. Why not stick with what has worked best so far. Try to establish the run to open up play action. What's more important I'd say is what happens if ISU defends the run well. Then it's flea flicker time, lol.

  3. That looks about right. Boise St and Georgia Tech leapfrogged us and deservedly so. 1-0, tied for first in the Big 12 north, that is the only ranking that matters right now. At least until the BCS ratings come out.

    Thats correct. :yeah

  4. I'm convinced KU is the better team. If we played a 7-game series, the Jayhawks would win it.

IMO, in a 7 game series, it would be 6-1 NU. Derek Fine would have 14 dropped TD passes, and Barmann would have 9 picks. Last night just proved that even when NU is outplayed by KU they still can't win. Let's face it, Nebraska played pretty poorly overall and still won.

    Either way..... :nanalama

  5. Carriker...1 sack? 1 sack for our combined starting three LBs? Maybe it was the gameplan against KU to defend the shovel pass, I don't know. Maybe there are more sacks to come. If you think about it, LaTech game was very vanilla on D, Nichols ran the ball every play, USC is USC, Troy we got some sacks against undersized linemen, and KU had a lot of experience up front. I really think our LB depth is hurting us right now with Octavien and Dillard out. We basically have 4 guys with the starters are Brandenburgh in there. I don't know but some of these guys better start picking it up by next week because if you give Meyer time to pass I think we all know who he will find. Overall, we need better play out of our D or this season could end up being a disapointment.

That's exactly what it was. In the OWH this morning Cosgrove confessed the D held back because the shovel pass had been so productive in previous games averaging 30 yds a play. Personally I don't think coaching in fear is a good gameplan.

Yup, actually IMO you need to be fearless.

  6. Granted we seem slow on defense tonight, but I will never understand why we didn't at least try to throw against USC like we are tonight against KU. I wouldn't have minded losing that game if we had at least tried.

Beating USC would have done far more for the program than last weeks big win over Troy.

    First of all... dedhoarse

Second, that was USC at L.A. not KU in Lincoln. It was a little easier getting open against KU's DBs.

I don't like bringing up this subject again, but how do you know that. We never tested the USC DB's.

All I know is what I see. We were ripping through KU's D-line early on, that opened up play action. When KU stopped the run, NU still came through proving they were the better team. USC made it very hard to throw and after stopping the run they proved they were the better team IMO.

  7. I showed up last year on this board after a lot of Husker fans thought we (the Jayhawks) were still the little sisters of the poor. You all made some great big plays, and got it done in overtime, this time, so congrat to you all. I would like to point out, that is three strong games in a row from Kansas, and two in Loncoln. I hope someday I stop by and see that people don't get mad for barely beating KU. These boy under Mangino missed the memo they are supposed to suck. Other than a pasting from Texas last year, we have been competitive in pretty much every game we have been in for 3 years now. Should be a great game in Lawrence next year!

You all had a great start and made plays to stay in it. 3 bombs and an 8 yard drive made for interesting offense. Adam Barman played WAY better than he did last week, and that is by far the best offense that has shown up (everyone else just put 8 and 9 in the box, because our freshman QB, Meier, was an interception machine). You all represented, as always, with your fans. If that game was in Lawrence, I think we woulda won. You Husker fans should be proud at the environment you create, it's an awesome thing. I think it sure made a HUGE difference tongiht.

Best of luck the rest of the year. Classy program and the best board to visit.

    Good post. :thumbs

NU vs. KU may be a good ticket to get next year Husker fans.

  8. Both teams could say they are the better team, except WE won and that is how the team will be judged in the end. They made mistakes that we capitalized on and we made mistakes they capitalized on. at the end of the game we were where we started TIED. We Scored and they didn't . I saw the we will lose topic but was to busy in the ongoing game thread trying to keep from throwing the computer out the door. This very well could be a good character builder. We needed a close hard fought game and to be able to come out with a win helps us in the long run.

I am glad the team didn't quit and played the ENTIRE game even when things looked bad.

    GBR.

P.S. Kansas played a good game and should hold their heads high.

    :yeah
