i just returned from a Carribean cruise and ran into a kid who played for CU last year, he played with Keller in high school and said when he was at Arizona, he was a party animal out of control...but since he went to NU, he has completely changed and is totally all about business now.......the guy says he has never seen a qb throw the long ball better than Sam......that sounds promising to me, if our guys learn how to catch it!
he also said Keller was cocky, but confident.....maybe just what we need
Yeah, apparently Sammy boy took a pretty good liking to the nose candy. Hopefully, he stays away from the stuff while he is here.

One omission that stands out to me. How the hell did nobody put Rich Glover at NT? He is probably the gretest defensive lineman this University has ever seen.

Okay, here comes yet another one of my infamous rants.
Alright I warned you…
Here goes….
This dissing of games not covered by ESPN is nothing new. All of you Husker fans old enough to remember the 1997 season think back and take a walk down memory lane with me.
ESPN/ABC was going to air the Rose Bowl that year as well. Early in the season, Nebraska was ranked #1, but there was no chance of the Huskers ending up on ESPN/ABC. That year the Orange Bowl (Nebraska’s conference tie-in) was to be aired on CBS. So early in the year ESPN ran a hype campaign about who should be #1 between the winner of the Michigan vs. Penn State game (I am pretty sure that was the match-up). Oh, good `ol ESPN seemed to conveniently forget that there was already a #1 team that was not playing in that particular match-up. But, like I mentioned before, ESPN was not going to get a chance to air the game that Nebraska was going to play in if they won their conference and remained #1. IMO this was a blatant, purposeful, premeditated attempt to screw Nebraska for the sake of ratings. And if you all remember, lo and behold, after Michigan and Penn State played, Michigan jumped Nebraska and was crowned the new #1 team. If you don’t think that was orchestrated by ESPN, then you probably believe the Warren report’s lone gunman theory.
Another bi-product of ESPN/ABC’s shameless self-promotion was the way they screwed Peyton Manning out of the Heisman Trophy. Once again, ESPN/ABC was going to show the Rose Bowl, and Peyton Manning was going to play in the Sugar or Orange Bowl. So about mid-season ESPN began showing highlights of all of Charles Woodson’s offensive plays (they knew a pure defensive player would never win the Heisman). In contrast, whenever they showed Peyton Manning highlights, they would show him getting sacked or throwing an interception. Never mind that Manning put up incredible numbers that should have made him the clear favorite for the Heisman; ESPN/ABC wanted to hype the “National Championship game, featuring Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson.” I must have seen a hundred highlights of Woodson running back punts for TD’s. Want to know the funny thing? He only returned one. That’s right, for all the Woodson punt return highlights he only returned ONE FREAKING PUNT for a TD.
If that is not enough evidence of the ESPN/ABC self promotion, when some people had the audacity to suggest that if Nebraska won the Orange Bowl and Michigan won the Rose Bowl, perhaps they should split the national title, all of the hacks on ESPN began the mantra “If a team is #1 and they win, then you have to leave them #1.” I must have heard a dozen ESPN idiot analyst make that or similar remarks to the effect that if Michigan won out they deserved the national title. Funny thing is, where was the outcry for fairness earlier in the season when Nebraska was #1 and the sportswriters jumped Michigan over us? Oh, I forgot, that didn’t suit ESPN/ABC’s shameless attempts to bolster the ratings for the game they were going to televise.
Well, that’s my rant against ESPN/ABC…at least for now…I’ve already weighed in with my feelings about Mark May and that whining little piece of sh*t Herbstiet.
I suppose ESPN is also harboring terrorists here as well? I am now dumbing for reading your post.

One Team, One State, One Common Bond

I talked to some of my buddies today and they are really depressed about the Huskers loss to Nebraska. I know for me personally, it will take quite some time to get over a loss like this. I know that Nebraska was a great team, but I really liked Nebraska's chance to go into Lincoln and get the W. And when they didn't beat Nebraska it really broke my heart (being a diehard Nebraska fan and all).

CBS- Can't Broadcast Sh*t

Let's not hand out any hardware just yet. This guy threw 5 picks in a game against USC in '05. And they happen to be on the schedule next year. I sure hope he gets some redemption but the guy takes way a lot of chances so he will probably throw more picks.
-
I'd be reluctant on giving a kid who threw 5 picks in a game two years ago the Heisman trophy.
I thought the Heisman was a year by year trophy? I mean call me crazy...
You missed my point. I guess I should have said something like "let's not give the kid the keys to the city just yet".
But, maybe our track record as fans says we should give him the keys to the city. After all, I remember Frankie London, Bobby Newcombe, and Jamal Lord all being proclaimed as the next Tommie Frazaier. And Thunder Collins was supposed to be the next Ahman Green.
-
Another solid QB who only started one year......Keithen McCant
However, I'll say this like I said in another post. We all need to be careful about handing Keller the trophy case. He has thrown 5 picks in a game before and is a hot head. I will say this, he is our best option by far. And he already has the job.
-
Couple things...............
I'd be reluctant on giving a kid who threw 5 picks in a game two years ago the Heisman trophy. At the same time, anyone who thinks anybody but Keller will start knows absolutely nothing about the politics of college football. Or anything about sheer talent for that matter. We don't have a better QB on this team and if he didn't transfer here we would be totally f-ed.
Our schedule is not going to be kind to us. A 10 win season will be a successful year next year. But don't be surprised if we don't win 10 games. We don't have enough horses yet to compete for a national championship.
None of us know how Bowman will come back from the injury. So, in my opinion, the secondary is still a liability. Landing that recruit the other day helped but we all know how long it took Bowman to adapt to D-1 football.
-
this is why i have always thought that the #1 offense should go against the #1 defense more in practice. the scout team i am sure has some athletes on it but they cannot be starter quality or they would be starting.
if your defense is practicing really well against the scout team and then gets torched by the opposing offense on game day, you would think that you might just have a problem.
i dont know, that is why i am in Iraq and not on the sidelines of a DIV 1 school coaching
That is a good point. But, they have seen one helluva QB lining up against them for the scout team (Keller) and that still hasn't helped them. You know your secondary is horrible when the scout team QB is completing 80% of his passes against them in practice.

What is his record with more than 1 week to prepare for another team?
3-1? 4-1?
I still like our chances-----USC beat Arkansas 50-whatever/NU28-14
Arkansas beat Auburn
NU beats Auburn
nuff said
So, by your logic Nebraska would tie Chadron St.
Chadron St. beat Montana St.
Montana St. beat Colorado
We beat Colorado
Ipso Facto we tie Chadron St.
p.s. We are all six degrees away from Kevin Bacon (whoopty freakin do).
-
Before we go chalking up a W in this game and saying how luky we are to play one team over the other, let's not forget that this ONE team beat the current #2 and #4 teams in the nation.
-
My two favorites are Mike Tirico and Gary Thorne
For my money it doesn't get any better than the old Saturday night ESPN duo of ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried. Franklin's delivery on his touchdown calls (fifteen, ten, fiiiiiive, touchdown) were priceless.

Do buff fans wear a pie??
Do Beaver fans where a "beaver"?
If they do then I just converted into a Oregon St. fan!
-
Mr. T's prediction for Rocky in Rocky III was "PAIN". And we all know how that turned out. We will need the Eye of the Tiger and Mick in our corner to pull it out.
Win or Lose, it's just great to see the Big Red's battle it out for the conference championship just like in the old days.
-
Good assessment by all. Here is my problem with those plays being used. WE HAD TO USE THEM AGAINST A 2-9 TEAM TO GET A VICTORY! Those are the types of plays you break out to beat USC, not Colorado.
-
When the Huskers are trailing at halftime you shall take shots of wild turkey and your girlfriend/wife shall perform oral sex on you to summon the gods of the comeback.
MAN LAW!
-
It would suck to play Boise St. and lose. I don't care what conference they play in. It is hard as hell to go undefeated in this day and age. So I agree with the majority in that I would like to see us play a top program from a top conference.
-
I have no problem with Ag supporting his team. I simply wanted to know why aggie fans are pissed about "settling" for 8-9 win seasons. Last time I checked they weren't winning 10-11 games every year and competing for a championship year in and year out.
-
Unfortunately, I doubt it. I think the AD will give him one more year. But DAYUM, we're sick and tired of this sheet. We're freaking A&M. WEe need to be able to compete against the bigs of the conference. We used to be feared, now we'ree a laughing stock.
Tell me again who feared you guys? You beat up on most of the Southwest Conference (impressive) and took your lumps against UT. You guys were always a good football team but not great. I mean, you guys want to fire Fran in the midst of an 8-2 season. But get serious, how many undefeated seasons and national championships have you guys had in the past 40 years? So where are these false expectations coming from? It would be different if you came into the Big 12 and dominated. But the fact is, the south was the weak division in the big 12's inception. And I seem to remember you getting run out of the Alamodome in '97 when we hung half a hundred on you. It kind of sounds like you are hanging you hat on your '98 season. Another year when most everyone in the conference was down except K-State.
-
Yeah, and don't go on their field after a victory either. Or the cadets will use their batons on you. I always admire a man who knows he's a pu&&y so he uses a weapon to gain the upper hand.
-
It's one thing to talk about bringing the dynasty back. It's another to get 41 points hung on you.
-
Boise St. will get one of the at large bids. Notre Dame will take up another. And then you have about 6-7 one loss teams in front of OU. OU won't be BCS bowling this year.

Steve Slaton was the best player in the country this year and will be next year barring an injury. But he won't win the Heisman because he plays on the same team as Pat White. so, my guess would be Booty as well. McFadden won't sneak up on anybody next year and the situation at Arkansas doesn't look promising for a good year.
