  1. I'm taking it upon myself to write the requirements for a new coach as I understand them from the "fans" I hear. You must win MORE than 9 games/year, you must win the conference title about 8 of every 10 years (You'll be in hot water the 2 years that you don't), must go to a BCS bowl game every year, win a National Championship at least twice a decade, have the sideline demeanor of an alter boy even when getting screwed by the Zebras, never swear (swearing and name calling are reserved for "fans"), you aren't allowed to lose even when injuries have depleted your offense we don't care that the 3rd team isn't good enough, if you do lose you can not lose by more than about 7 points. So, if you can do all of that get your name in the hat if the job opens up. :)

  2. Regarding the injuries, one of the people had a broken leg. She is suspended due to poor judgement in past driving decisions and it was broad daylight.... she ran because she KNEW she'd screwed up!! Now we'll see what Daddy is made of.

  3. Those who are bad mouthing the kid for keeping his options open are really not doing Husker Fans any great service. What would YOU do?? Sit on your butt and only hold out for baseball OR keep your options open? Nebraska knew what the deal was when they recruited him.... Either way I wish him well.

  4. Colorado and USC alum here. Wondering after the brutal officiating (Beebe/Dodds ) the Huskers took last year would there be animosity towards the Texas in the B1G? The Buffs had our self inflicted wounds (Hawkins) and didn’t have the target on our backs the way NU got it.

Don’t think there is Colorado or USC fan that wants UT in the Pac, and that says a lot.

See you in the Rose Bowl

Oh Hell, EVERYBODY wants Texass, just ask 'em!!! LOL

  5. If you guys think Jim Delaney has any interest in playing the ut politics game you're crazy.

Texas will join the B1G the day Kim Kardashian makes a discovery in physics that alters the way we view the universe forever.

WHOA!! I didn't realize she had studied physics!!!

  6. I'm getting old and my memory is the 2nd shortest thing I've got but, as I recall it that bounce pass resulted in a touchdown..... against Maryland?? in the late 70's??. Someone else just used that again last weekend with the same result.

The only time I know for certain we ran that play was against Oklahoma and it went for about 25 yards or so. No TD, at any rate.

See, your memory is longer than mine... It was Oklahoma, Sept. 26, 1982. Gill to Fryar to Krenk for 37 yds. Huskers score 2 plays later and never look back.

  7. Tom Osborne had a play where the center left the ball on the gournd - a LIVE FUMBLE! - hoping that no one would notice and then a lineman would scoop it up and run into the end zone. And this with an offense that was designed to pound the ball with real running backs.

When The Fumblerooski worked, Osborne was declared a genius. If it didn't work, it would have been among the stupidest plays ever attempted.

Osborne also had a bizarre play in which the qb would throw a screen pass that bounced OFF the ground into the hands of a running back near the sideline. The pass was just enough behind the qb to be a lateral, but the qb and rb were supposed to ACT disappointed, as if the ball hitting the ground made it an incomplete pass. Then when the defense let up (the ref was notified ahead of time) the receiver would launch a legal pass to a Husker waiting for it deep. For all the drama - and risk - involved, the defense didn't bite. I don't think Tom ran that one again.

Watson runs a fun offense with a lot of weapons and the ability to strike fast and come from behind when those Cosgrove defenses spotted the other team a quick 40 or 50 points. When the defenses jam the box, a quarterback like Joe Ganz (and sometimes Zac Lee) can pick them apart. When they shut down the pass, the system allows a guy like Helu to crank out an old school 150 yard game. And when life gives you a Burkhead to go with your Helu, you make lemonade. When it gives you a Martinez, you see what he brings to the table because you're not locked into a Zac Lee friendly system. When players fumble the ball and make stupid penalties, you pull out your hair, like every other coach.

Other than a miraculous return to the entrenched system and alignment of personnel from the mid-90s, what kind of offense are you guys looking for?

  8.

If "if and buts were candy and nuts" some of you would have a Merry Christmas for sure!!! LOL I'm surprised that we bother to even pay Bo with all of the talent around here.... GEEEZ, let 'em do what they're paid to do!!! If YOU can do it better get on down to TO's office and get your resume in.

  9. Blair Kirkkove (sp?) reporting that NU officials told the Big 12 this morning they are going to the Big 10 per Kevin Kugler on 1620 The Zone.

I heard the same. I guess we're officially Big 10.

Personally, I'll believe it's "official" when I hear somebody with the authority to say it's official say it!!! I'd really hate to end up like the Tigers... That said, I do believe it'll happen.

  10. Just imagine the letdown if nothing comes of this and we stay in the Big12? There has been nothing official and we are all acting like it is a done deal. Suicide watch 2010.

Yep, just go take a look at the "Tiger" board..... P.S. Classy fans don't need to talk SMACK!!
