  1. Is he any better than what we already have?

Gabbert was in Columbia today. I wouldn't count on him being our salvation. To get **** recievers and QBs here we're going to have to show that we have the coaching that will allow them to use those talents. It looks like we are going to be a 3 yards and a cloud of dust and let the defense do it sort of program.

We need a servicable qb like Ganz or Taylor and an o-line that can protect him and open up holes for Burkhead & Robinson. I think Green can be that or better.

To me Green looks nothing like the gamer he was chalked up to be. I know he's a frosh, but he was handed opportunities several times this year and he has looked nothing less than scared and or tight. He has some major growing to do. His pass on 3rd down was a prime example.

  2. Sorry....Asante pisses me off. He is the biggest trash talker and self promoter on the team. That hit he put on the OU receiver was devastating...and legal. But just walk away. The guy had taken his helmet off and was obviously hurt and Asante is jumping over top of him. Shut up and play.

It’s Division 1 football. It aint intramurals, brotha.

  3. So i see alot of talk about the off season. Good to have in mind since nebraska has the bowl game left and that is it. I am a bit disturbed though. All this talk about "system"????? Especially at the Qb position. Yes joe ganz knew the "system" and that made him ok as qb. BUT what about athletes? What about putting the best athlete at a postion? lee and witt may very well be the starter next year. great let them battle it out. but what about green.. before we write him off as redshirting, give him a chance to at least make a run for his money. he is having an outstanding high school career and at this time i believe in the semi finals for state. no one told Terrelle Pryor that he had to sit out a year because he didnt know the "system" do you think because terrelle pryor didnt know the system that he isnt a good qb? that kid is a stud! and sure he is going through some growing pains but his osu buckeyes are 10th in the nation. sure they play in a crap conference but thats not the point right now. For as long as i can remember teams like ohio state, usc, alabama, florida, texas, ou so forth and so on.. PUT THEIR BEST ATHLETES ON THE FIELD. "MAKE PLAYS!'' sure there will be some mishaps along the way. but dont you get better and learn more efficiently when you fall flat on your face? just some food for thought.

To make an argument against your position one could say the word "Thenarse". He is certainly the best athlete at the position. But, at times throughout the season he looked down right awful….because he "did not know the system"...or at least did not play as if he did. Once his knowledge of the ‘system’ caught up and he became more comfortable you could see the level of his play pick up dramatically. I feel a player must know the system first…athleticism can only take you so far.

  4. But Norvell had NO control over the offense, I believe that's why he left.

Or maybe it was to get away from Callahan. No one thought it at the time, but that seems the most logical reason now.

As for Coach Watson.... I truely believe he stays for atleast the next few years. He likes this state and has a great respect for Tom and even for Bo. Money isn't everything to him either... he proved that last year when he turned down the Alabama job that would have doubled his pay here.

I hope he stays too, but I have a feeling teams like Auburn might come calling. If you could mix our offense with their defense...look out.

  5. The only way i see him leaving is if he gets a HC offer, and i dont see that happening

I thought the same regarding Norvell a couple years ago when he was picked up by UCLA....

  6. I read nearly every day, but I do not post much....but I got to thinking about Coach Watson. He has put together a real nice offense in the past several games. We are gelling and the scores and offensive production keep getting better. Here is how we stack up through 11/16/08:

    Total Offense - 10th

    Rushing Offense - 39th

    Passing Offense - 12th

    Scoring Offense - 19th

I am guessing his stock is on the rise.

    My questions are:

If Coach Watson chooses to go elsewhere who is the most likely candidate to fill the spot?

Who would you most like to see fill the vacancy?

    What will the effect be?

  7. Coach Pelini confirmed that Henry is set for a redshirt

“We'd like to red shirt him,” Pelini said, “but he's ready to go. We have experience there (at the guard positions), so we can hold off on playing him.”

I was hoping for more playing time for him. I love the motor and how he pushes his teammates with his intensity. We need that.

Do you feel this was a decision based on luxury...we already have enough depth and talent? Or, is he just not ready due to lack of knowledge of the offense? Either way, is it possible to make up for execution with intesity?

  8. First....Daniel is not unbiased. He is more or less tooting his own horn. That said, I can’t believe what I am hearing in this article. Adjustments are a part of football. A major part of it. Perhaps you should have not practiced a single defensive scheme all week. What a clown. I mean even if you were to change schemes to something less effective...what’s the risk? What, we get beat by 60?

  9. I know….Its like where do we start?

Another post mentioned removing BC as the coordinator. I was saying the same thing last night. It seems he is so busy being lost that he can’t run the team. When I was watching the OU-UT game I saw what a head coach should look like (IMO). When the game was on the line Stoops was in the defensive huddle bringing fire and passion to his team. When there was a questionable call he was all over the refs. I think he adds value to the offense, but time to step up and be coach and let others do what they do.

  10. After another BAD performance I see no other option than a clean slate on defense. We need a defense that attacks. At this point I would settle for mediocre. Who would you like to see at DC? I believe Stoops will not last at Arizona as a HC. He is an excellent DC option IMHO.

  11. Kicking Game!

We have been so poor in this area all year. Teams were able to break big ones on us all year.... and I can't remember a Big XII game in which we were able to match that/out perform a team. We have tried a variety of wrinkles (Nunn, Grixby, Wilson, Green, Hardy, etc) this year to find a spark but each has really fizled.

Also, I can't remember a truly dominate punt returner since Groce graduated.

  12. A true sign of a great coach is realizing what is working and what is not working. There is such a superiority complex with Elmo and Coz. That is my biggest beef with them. The simple fact that is one injury killed us and the talent level is not there. However, they have tried some things (2 deep-man coverage) that just do not work with our corners, safeties and line backing core and are so reluctant to change when they become unsuccessful during games.

  13. When spring football comes around in another 4 months or so I think we could possibly be seeing the best QB battle ever. Now I am very confident in saying that Keller will be our starter in '07 but I am very excited about all the QB's we are going to see come Apirl in the spring game. Keller with his wealth of experience, Ganz with his knowledge of the WCO, Witt the unproven but extremely intelligent mind (he will be a sophomore in standing when he enrolles at UNL in January :o ), Lee with his strong arm and mobility, Hildebrand with a lot of potential. Can I get my spring football tickets right now!!!!!! :horns2 Last thought on Keller, I really believe that this guy is going to be a very important player in Husker history even though he only will play one year, he provides a very crucial gap to the younger QB's, if we did not get Keller we would be looking at inexperience at the QB position which would have been devastating for us next year, remember the WCO only works with a solid QB see Joe Dailey  Also in my opinion one of the best QB's that NU ever had was a kid who only started one year his name - Gerry Gdowski.

    GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the key will be Keller's experience. He has real D1 game experience that the others just don’t have. That is the upside. The down side is everyone is ready to hand over the reins (with some amount of understanding). I am anxious to see how he responds to this. Irregardless of what happens in spring ball we will have a luxury that we have not had for some time now....depth at QB.
