Yes, I'm familiar with that promise - I wished he'd delayed it a few years.

Wasn't there something about Frank taking another job and TO stepped aside so it would be Frank? I thought there was something about it needing to be done to keep Frank around.

They kind of blocked off the top rows most of the way around the arena and now it is just standing room only around the top.  I would think it would be possible to uncover those seats that they covered up but I've never gone up there to look.  I've not heard any talk of actually doing that though.

I think I remember hearing something about keeping it standing unless we were chosen to select the regional finals (which was the format at the time) because you needed X number of seats to host when the remodel was done.

When does your turn start?  I go at 11:16 tomorrow morning.

Supposed to be at 3 this afternoon. Just checked and theres like 5 seats available in the whole place...so not very likely.

  4. It wasn't showing any amount information for me, or anything. I could only watch the video. I called the Ticket office and they said there was an issue with the software and my account, and they fixed it. Now to play the waiting game to see what's available when my time comes.

    Try www.huskerhounds.com

Found a couple things on there, thanks, appreciate it. A lot of these sites have the same distributor so the distributor must've been out of some stuff or didn't even offer anything. With how big the volleyball program is I can't believe there isn't more stuff out there.

Unless you go to the Fanatics (no longer Huskers Authentic) in Devaney or PBA you really can't find much. It's quite sad.

It is usually student broadcast announcers / home team for each school. So it's not terrible, but for some this is his/her first time (on the job training).

The camera angle is usually just one center of the net. They replays are usually taken directly from the score board in the arena so depends on what each school has available. Husker Vision score board is pretty good, other schools may not be.

It seems that the only way to watch tomorrows game (and a few other road games) is through BTN Plus. I've looked into it and it's affordable, Im just asking is it worth it? I mean is it like watching the home teams broadcast, or is it neutral commentary? How are the camera angles/replays?

The coverage of the game yesterday drove me crazy.

Thanks for the input. I ended up not getting it for today's game, but Im definitely going to in November.

  8. I actually went in there one time when I was on campus with the Masonic Marching Band for the Shrine bowl. Another kid and I wandered in there (under east stadium) during a break once. It was a dirt track, nothing really all that special unfortunately. I remember thinking at the time how weird it was to have a dirt track under there.

Kind of surprised there are that many seats reserved for faculty. 47 rows times ... what ... 25 seats per row times 4 sections. That's about 4,700 tickets.

Usually each faculty member gets two tickets, so divide that by 2 and it's a little more manageable. I sit in section 2 with my dad, who's a faculty member, but there's plenty of non-faculty members around us.

Interesting. Any idea how many faculty the University employs?

Do you think it is mostly faculty there or are they selling the tickets?

US College News says that there is a 21:1 of student to faculty ratio. With a enrollment of 25,000 that would only put the faculty population at approximately 2,000. Obviously that could be off, or maybe they don't count administrators, secretaries, etc. They might only be calculating the professors. http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/university-of-nebraska-2565

From what I've gathered there's three possibilities.

    1) Faculty members that buy seats and attend every game.

    2) Faculty members that buy seats and then sell their tickets to make a slight profit. I know professors personally that do this from year to year.

    3) There's a possibility that if not all the faculty seats are bought, that they might then be opened to the general public for purchase. I don't know if this is actually true, or even done at UNL, but I could definitely see it as a possibility.

I know employees get tickets. I had a former student whose Mom worked for a UNL extension office in the middle of Nebraska and she got 2 tickets.

  10. So when are they gonna decided "how to proceed" with the program? Don't get the point of adding a sport if you're not gonna compete in postseason

Because the sand season is like bowl practices and the spring season for football. Any contact between coaches and players can only benefit the program.

Also were there to check out Austin Allen from Aurora. 6'8 250lb TE.

215lbs not 250lbs. However he has the frame to put on 20-30 lbs.

He wouldn't stay at TE then, would he?
6'8 235 TE with his hands and ability to move sounds great to me.
I like the idea of converting him to an OT, with him playing tight end his feet are probably pretty good, which is essential at tackle
What weight do you think we'd have to get him to for OT? 280?
Yeah that'd be a good start. Redshirt him and build healthy weight, could work.
My amateur opinion doesn't think he has an OT body. But some people know better then I. Just really think he could be a weapon at TE.
Taking an athletic 6'8 kid with hands and converting him to OL just sounds like a waste of potential, IMO. He puts on 20-30lbs, he'd be nearly impossible for any college LB to defend. (Jimmy Graham is 6'7 265)

Anyone know if we have offered him a walk on? I think he passes the eyeball test as a TE and 6'8 size with those hands doesn't happen every year.
    He's only a junior

He's also a basketball player with looks from some schools. No way he bulks up for football before college. It would be a waste to put him on the line, he has pretty good hands.

I just want some feedback on this. Someone I know, who has ties to teams of the late 90's & 00's, said a lot of ex players are pulling for Solich to come back. Anyone think this has more than a snowball's chance in.......? I seriously doubt it, but I'm not in the know as much as some on here.

No. Frank is way too old, and his recruiting was... not good.

That's what I told him, but he insisted that I was crazy for thinking that. I just wanted to see how many would be in agreement.

2007 to Oklahoma State was always the one that stung for me.

I had that same helpless feeling watching this game.

Ha! That's funny you say that. I texted my buddy that during the game. I hadn't felt like this since the Oklahoma State game in 2007. Of course then were were 2 years out of high school and back home that weekend. We decided to chase turkeys around town with a golf cart instead of watch the second half that day.

Walking to the stadium that day I was walking through the North Stadium parking lot and an older gentleman at a tailgate we passed said "We gonna win today?" My reply was "Hopefully." He was taken aback by that answer and asked "What kind of answer is that from a Husker fan?" "A realistic one" was my reply. I stayed for the entire game, stretching out in the vast emptiness that was my section, and after the game I made sure to walk by that spot and he was long gone by that point. That was a terrible day in Husker nation...this may have been worse.

  14. Hello,

We have promised my children THIS will be the fall we will take them to cheer on the Huskers in person at a game. We are transplants from the west. We have the opportunity to buy tickets to the BYU game through friends of ours that are BYU alumni. Tickets are around $85 a person and in the lower visitors section.

HOWEVER, we will BE WEARING RED! And cheering on the Huskers. NOT BYU. Since I haven't been to a game in person, this is my question: In the past, do you see Husker fans peppered throughout the visitor section? I want my children to have an enjoyable experience and not feel totally out of place.

If you suggest we don't purchase through our friends, please let me know my best bet at securing tickets to this game. I don't want to let my kids down.

Thanks so much for your help!

Almost every team has issues selling their tickets. They return them to Nebraska and they are then sold to Husker fans. There are ALWAYS Husker fans in the visitor sections. There's always stub hub, eBay or you can always buy scalper tickets, but for piece of mind I would just buy them from your friends. $85 is more than face value, but it's not an astronomical difference.

  15. Our biggest problem this year was that we couldn't keep up offensively. We had moments of quality offense, but weren't able to string together many rallys. As was said the pitching and defense were very good this year, you just can't expect to win many games scoring in the low single digits.
