  1.

    Good words, Junior.

The seperation does exist and it worries me a bit. I think the older generation is concerned about character. We give them the benefit of the doubt on that but sometimes their actions speak differently. They most likely have it but it hides behind things like "throat slashing", "zipped lip" and "untouchable security" measures, it all has us on edge. We understand things are going to be different than Dr. Tom, but it doesn't necessarily have to be, especially to this extent. I keep going back to the thread within this sight of people that yearn for the NU / OU annual rivalry to come back. Callahan understood "notta" on the wonderful history of that series and proved it with his actions to those fine people. I don't believe we really had hope for that anyway as they have their rival and it never was us, but we sure don't have a chance at renewing such a magnanimous game like that now. I'm afraid, as well as others, that BC is burning alot of bridges that could haunt us after he's gone. I believe that will happen. If an NFL team comes calling, he'll be gone so quick that the phone call will come from the airplane on his way there. Soul searching during periods of subpar NU seasons(anything less than 12 wins), will always happen. Maybe this discussion is good for Husker Nation.

YOU are the $hit in the ice cream.

  2. I and many other husker fans went down to dallas this and sat in the cold, not as cold as the Big 12 championshipship game from which i was still warming up from at the time but yes now I am completly warmed, anyways the Cotton Bowl is being moved from the cotton bowl, to the new Cowboys stadium in 2010.

I have mixed opinions one the cotton bowl needed some renovations which were not going to be made with one or two games a year, and I am not suggesting the city of Dallas should have to do that for that same reason.

But the other side is the tradition of The Cotton Bowl, at The Cotton Bowl I am sure that many teams could haved moved from their stadiums to build a new one instead of fixing up there old one, the cotton bowl has dropped the last couple of years and they should have made some renovations or have changed stadiums a few years ago.

But it seems like as Nebraska is entering a new stage of football (Peterson) I ask how much traditions are going to be lost in the next couple of years not only for the huskers but for the whole country.

I know we are starting new traditions such as the singing of There Is No Place Like Nebraska after wins, (which comes from USC) and a now established tradition as the tunnel walk and "Husker Nation" and Restore the Order.

What I want to know is what are your favorite traditions, and what is enough in changing?

    :asshat

Way to go. Take a bowl game moving and turn it into bitching about things at Nebraska.

    :asshat :asshat :asshat

  3. Doak was interviewed on the radio today and said that his immediate boss did not fire him and, Pederson did not fire him, Callahan who is not his boss, did. He also said that he has not been given a reason why.

Doak did mention that is was pretty ironic that he was the guy who on the recommendation of Adam Treu and John Parrella recommended Callahan for the job, and Callahan stabbed him in the back.

I guess Cally and Stevie are cut from the same low-integrity cloth. What a sad day to be a Husker.

If Doak was fired by Callahan, then why did Doak resign? Doesn't firing someone kind of supercede their resignation? I also find it hard to believe that Doak was the reason Callahan got the job. It's not like Callahan took a team to the f'ing SUPER BOWL JUST 1 YEAR BEFORE? I MEAN WHO PAYS ATTENTION TO THE SUPER BOWL?!?!?! :sarcasm

I guess what I am trying to say is that Callahan already had his name out there so to speak. Doak needs to put a lid on it. :thumbs

This is the first I have heard about Doak "resigning." If he did turn in a letter of resignation it came after Callahan told him that his services were no longer needed. Essentially it would have been a "resignation" much like Dan McCarney- "We are going in a different direction, either you can resign or get fired, your choice."

Doak needs to speak about it. We as taxpayers need to know what is going on where our taxdollars are concerned and he is the only one speakin about it. We have got the typical "no comment" from the university.

I thought the athletic dept. took care of itself without taxpayer dollars.

  4. It's nice to see a Nebraska guy on the list. I don't think Tebow belongs on any kind of lists like that though.

Not to put too fine a point on things but I sure hope Keller gets the starting nod. Otherwise it's going to be hard to move up from #14 on the Heisman Hopeful List. :sarcasm

Good point. I would be shocked if Keller didn't start though.

  5.

True but Devaney resurrected the program from the dead. He didn't take a program that was limping along and shoot it in the head.

I agree the past is the past. Everything changes. NU is not NU.

When we win a national championship again there will probably be people still pissed off that we didn't do it running the option. Things change get over it. Of course I should just go talk to a wall because some people seem to be happy bitching and moaning about anything and everything they can.

    :wtf

  6. I think Pederson should be fired from his position as athletic director and be downgraded to janitor, he has been destroying husker nation since he took over, his contract expires in Jan of 08 but he should be fired before that, I don't know the rules and their might be a penatly or something if we do fire him I dont know, but many donors are withdrawing, I still remember when I was at a b-ball game and he was on the jumbo-tron and everyone in the Devany was booing,Pederson better resign or get fired before he completly destroys husker nation :steam:bang

    BLAHHHH!!!!!!! :asshat
