  1. I get what you are saying, but you should have used the word "repose" rather than "touche". "Touche" is a fencing term that means "acknowledging that one's opponent has scored a hit". Whereas "repose" means "to place in, or to thrust in". It appears M-247's post falls more into the "skewered" category than merely making a counter point. I score one point for M-247. Just a little sidebar from a former team sport ASU fencing member. ;)

Oy vey. Everywhere you turn, there's always some Fencing Snob rubbing your nose in your incorrect use of touché. It's getting so you can't swing a stick on the Internet without hitting two or three ASU members anymore.

God save us from this plague.

You have to be a snob to fence you know. :)

  2. The good thing is for you guys, this game is in no way more important then the Nevada game...........

    :walks away whistling:

Or for you Montana State.........................Oh wait a minute. :nutz

  3. As I have said before, I was not impressed with Sam when he was at ASU, but I have done a 180 about him since he has been at Nebraska. If you think about it, his last two years of college football has been in two bad situations. Yet, he handled himself admirably. Best of luck Sam your big break will come.

  4. I voted for the Nebraska win and keeping Bill.

This question brings up something interesting. Basketball coach Dean Smith at UNC and Coach K at Duke had terrible starts respectively. They were hated. I especially remember Coach K's situation because I was working at Duke at the time. Yet, each coach turned their programs around and you know the rest the story.

What if Nebraska won the rest of their games this year and a bowl in similar fashion to the KSU game demonstrating they had turned the corner. What would you do?

  5. The Independence Bowl reps were here today. If we get to six wins, we'll go to Shreveport. Yippee.

Could play Miss. State or maybe Arkansas?

Maybe Appalachian State? (I probably spelled that wrong...)

You spelled it right. BTW, they call themselves "Appalachian" not "Appalachian State".

  6.

.... If that guy's behavior and decision making are Christ-like in any way then I'm the Pope.

Apparently Christ wouldn't make your decision making criterion. He hand picked 12 disciples and one was a traitor. What a bad decision. Not very Christ-like.

The point has nothing to do about Cally. It has everything to do about having the eyes of God and being able to distinguish BS from actual statements of faith. Apparently you have that gift, Holy Father.

  7. No... I fhe were so into God, he wouldn't have called TO a crusty old f***. He would've listened to what Osborne had to say from Day 1.

...and if Moses was so into God he wouldn't have struck that rock in the desert, and if Peter was so into God he wouldn't have sunk walking on water or denied Christ three times, and if Abraham was so into God he wouldn't have laughed when God told him he would have a child in his old age, and if King David was so into God he wouldn't have committed murder and adultery, and if Jonah was so into God he wouldn't have spent so much time in the belly of the fish...

Clearly these guys weren't really into God, they were just wearing their religion on their sleeves. :sarcasm

...and Osborne is God's surrogate on earth. Listen to him

  8. Take comfort in the fact that when Nebraska loses its news. Most of your detractors are on the flip side of that situation. When they win its news

The same go for us. When we win nobody around me says anything. But when we lose, then I hear it.

Its really a backhand complement of your great tradition and expectations. Look at Notre Dame, they have been down and up, now they are down. Yet they have a great tradition, and when they lose everyone takes notice. Don't you feel good when Notre Dame loses? I do. But I respect them and worry how good are they going to be next year. I can't say that about other programs. Its the same with all the great programs including yours.

Your days in the sun are not over. Your future looks bright, its just time to change the light bulb. I can't wait to see how you guys come out of this. Believe me, when it happens you will be more proud to be a Husker than ever before having gone through this.

Remember, true champions show their character in defeat as well as victory. I believe the Husker nation is showing that character now.

No one is laughing in my house.

  9. Well my guess is that I have attended more games than 95% of you on this board. I have been going to college football games all accross the country for nearly 50 years.

I have never encountered a problem, never ever. I have attended games at every major stadium but Penn State.

It amazes me that these things happen. I am not doubting that they do, but I have never seen it period.

I have seen fights between the fans, but normally it was well deserved. I have never seen a senior or young child attacked.

I have heard the derogatory remarks, but normally coming from a drunk frat boy that really has no clue of where he is at or doing.

I attended the SC/Oregon State game last nite. Great fans and very very friendly. We had a group of Beaver fans right next us and had a great time with them.

Your normally get what you sow.

At the Missouri game my wife and I were walking to the stadium when a truck full of Missouri college students stopped and offered us a ride in the pick up bed. We took them up on it, even though they were pretty well juicied up. Saved us a two mile walk. They were very friendly and wished us luck and have fun.

I guess I have just been lucky, but I have always been friendly to every fan I meet, I do not dislike any team, other than maybe Michigan. But I have attended games at the big house and never had a problem there, some comments after 97, but never anything that caused alarm.

I am sorry to hear that this happened to a young person and a senior citizen. I am in my 60's and would hate to think I could not attend the games I enjoy more than anything in life.

It is time we all took notice of the NCAA advertiesemtns on being good sports.

These are people just like you and your family, and should always be treated that way.

There is no room for hate in college football.

:clap I am in 'skerfan's generation (60 plus), and that has been my experience also. People who act like that are 1) usually drunk, or 2) just like that about everything, not just college football.

  10. Until they start losing. Same old cycle.

Do you really think we can sink lower than this. I would hope we never sink to the Notre Dame level.

What you just said is really putting this in context. What you said would have been unheard of two years ago, but the reality of it is here.

Just think, Nebraska being discussed in this context and nobody wanting to be like Notre Dame. Are you kidding me Notre Dame the model you don't won't to be. Nebraska and Notre Dame being discussed for playing bad football? Unheard of! Blasphemy! Your statement speaks to the sea change that is college football today.

This maybe the craziest year in college football. South Florida was ranked in the top five. Who is South Florida? What part of the great college football tradition have they been? None, but they have a darn good football team. BC ranked 2nd, and they're really that good. (well maybe). Appalachian beats Michigan in the big house. Stanford beats USC in the coliseum. Whats going on in football land?

Keep in mind these are not normal times in college football. Although this doesn't help what you Huskers are going through, it does mean you are not the only fans of great traditions scratching their heads wondering whats going on. Look at Miami and Florida State. Louisville is in disbelief.

When we were horrible in the 1990's you guys were great. So I got a measure of satisfaction watching you win. Last week was a real downer for me. We lost and you lost. What can a guy do when both his teams lose? (I realize many of you have problems with my football fan schozophrenia, but there is no know treatment for it)

We always talk about how you can't always be on top, but when it happens it just plain sucks. It doesn't matter how much you understand the process or how much hope you have for the future, it just plain sucks. So hang in there guys!

  11. TarheelTrojan: "Fight On! GBR"

I just threw up in my mouth. By the way, most teams have had a lot of injuries throughout the season. Just be honest and admit that your Booty has stunk all year long (pun intended). But, at the end of the day, excuses are like buttholes - everybody has them and they all stink. Prepare yourselves to get beat down by my Bruins once again! ESPN pundits can't save your program. :box

I was not making any excuses. If you will look at a post I made Friday, I said I fully expected to lose against Oregon.

I was not making excuses, I was making a comparison. I understand reading with comprehension is not taught at the state school with the big fat bear mascot.

PS Most people throw up in their mouths. Do you sometimes do it somewhere else?

PSS Great game against Notre Dame :corndance

  12. .... but i just wonder where those USC fair weather fans are at now.

They are with the Nebraska fair weather fans trying to blame everybody for something or other.

The time has finally come USC's demise is finally coming.

I wouldn't be sending the funeral arrangement just yet

It now looks like LSU, [/b]Florida, Oregon are programs that could be on the rise to replace the former top teams.

Florida has lost THREE games this year and we have lost two. Sounds logical that a three loss team would replace a TWO loss team at the top :sarcasm

Kinda funny to look at this and realize it happens to everyone and it was only a couple months ago the media wanted to annoint this team as the greatest ever.

The media did no such thing. It was Jim Harbaugh, and he was mocking the USC program when he did it. Go look at the tape.

For the record, most people who picked USC to win the NC this year ALL conceded it would be difficult for USC to go undefeated. Kinda like Florida last year, lose one but still go to the NC game. Either Oregon or Cal were one of the two teams expected to defeat SC.

Its funny, USC has had injuries since day one, and nobody has made any excuses for them. Florida's injuries just started in Oct. and everbody says that's why they have lost three.

Yes, there are other issues about this team other than injuries, but who doesn't have issues.

The fair weather fans may be gone, but I am still here. Remember, I have been through what you are going through now. I am more than capable of handling it again with style and grace.

Good luck the rest of the year. Don't give up on your Huskers. I haven't and neither have I given up on our winning the rest of our games.

    Fight On! GBR
