  1.

TheSker. Are you still defending Bo? Or are you just simply hinting at what will happen? Do you have surefire evidence? Can you add something to the discussion other than your snide remarks like "bo aint gettin fired" that and "osborne" this. Its gettin old. It was gettin old when i myself blindly defended bo. Offer up your reasoning. Explain to us in any way shape or form that the retention of Bo pelini as head football coach wont result in a complete crumbling of the Nebraska football culture from the inside out.

Easy guy.....not necessary. To answer your questions.....I'm fine if the decision makers retain Pelini. I do not like the brand of football currently being played, especially on offense. Evidence of what? I have no evidence of anything, but the actual decision is made by a very small number of people. And yes, those people are heavily influenced by Tom Osborne.

I'd rather they were influenced by evidence.

  2. According to a poster on another website, there is a booster waiting to write a check to get this nightmare over with. I don't know if it would be frowned upon to say who the poster is so I don't want to do that unless people say it is ok to say who the poster is. Sounds like there is a boster that wants to do anything he can to get Bo out of town.

The poster also said that McElwain's buyout would NOT prevent Nebraska from getting him.

Links, links and more links. Information age, people.

  3. Zero confidence Nebraska can take Iowa. Zero.

Pelini's squad is pillow soft and mentally weak; I have no doubt Iowa is far more interested in winning the game than we are. Iowa's defensive line is much more talented than Minnesota's. Their offense may be mediocre, but they know what they're trying to do because they've been doing it for over a decade. It's a road game, which equals apprx. five false start penalties. Our program is in total disarray, and everyone knows it. We come off two physical beatdowns in a row, and now we're supposed to turn around in a short week and play another team that's built––at least in theory––on a power running game and a big boy offensive line.

A three touchdown loss is more likely than a win, IMO.

Edit: And watch for Rudock to roll out on play action. With what our contain has looked like these last two weeks, he may have a hundred yards rushing in 7-8 plays.

  4. Tressel is the name that jumps off the list for me for pretty obvious reasons. Track record. Knows the conference. Recruiting potential. Maximizing resources. I'd be the last person to feel qualified enough to make the hire, but the scandal business as I've heard it explained does not register for me as a real problem––small potatoes in the scheme of things.

I also have no idea if he's a realistic possibility.

Edit: I guess the most important part of this for me is not so much who the person is. It's that the process is respected. If we're prepared to spend the kind of dough we're contemplating spending . . . be choosy about it.

  5. If we lose to Iowa I would have to think Bo will be fired next weekend.

He should, but I see no reason why an Iowa win should matter. At all. Right now we are just arranging the chairs to find out if we should sit third or fourth in our division. That's the B1G West, if anyone's paying attention.

Bo should be fired this season for his whole body of work, not just this season or today's game. He had a vision for the program and he has failed to make it a reality. He's gone on to admit publicly that he does not know the reason, or how to fix the systemic issues he and he alone is responsible for fostering in this program. In addition to his demeanor in-game, every aspect of his management of the program is open to scrutiny.

There is no reason, not one, to believe Pelini will improve on his gains or is even capable of making system-wide changes. He is the problem. We have to clean house; it's our last and best option if we want to have a shot at a trophy any time in the next five years.

  6. No new information was gleaned from this embarrassment so I'll dispense with that.

I don't want to be perceived as an "I told you so" kind of guy, because I feel no animosity towards people who support Bo Pelini. I wish him and his family well.

But right about the time Kenny Bell was pontificating to the press after being crushed by a far superior coaching staff, I felt this result was very predictable.

I think we've seen all that we need to see. Thanks to the seniors that gave their all. Hopefully the threshold you set will be exceeded by a more competent group of coaches. If the Administration has any clue what's going on in this program, act quickly and decisively, and forget about "national perception" while you go about doing the right thing for the future. In year seven of Pelini's tenure, we are a middle of the pack B1G West school.

    That's unacceptable.

    Unacceptable.
