  1. Football team will just get a slap on the hand. However the womens tennis team might face the death penalty, :sarcasm .

BSU womens tennis.. WHO CAN WE STEAL? thread needs to get started.

Some of those athletes are worth stealing for one's own personal tennis team, but you wouldn't want the ensuing matches to be televised. Interpret that how you want.

i'll bring the kiddy pool if you bring the KY chloroform.

  3. There are 96 known offers combined between three recruiting services as of today. Notice the trend developing in the SEC region, but more specifically Georgia. While Florida shows the most offers, which is par for the course by NU standards, it's Georgia that surprises me the most. I know we've thrown a handful of offers in years past, but I can't remember a time this early in the recruiting cycle of there being 11 offers in Georgia alone.

Many of the recruiting beatniks had been saying for the last couple of years that Georgia may be overtaking Cailfornia as the state that pumps out the third best quality talent. I am all in favor of raiding the SEC states, however the success of this probably be minimum as a lot of those kids seldom leave that area. BUT continued success on the field will breed large rewards on the recruiting trail.

I think you also need to be picky if your nebraska and going into SEC country. because of character and academic issues.

Just stop posting. While you're at it, retake fourth grade grammar.

  4. As you can see by my many 'replies' this issue has really upset me. I've been reading other message boards from the rest of the teams in the B1G and many of them are really angry. This DOES make the B1G look bad and why did it have to be Nebraska, who was being welcomed into the B1G with open arms, to spoil everything?

However, I did find this thoughtful post on, of all things, an Iowa Hawkeyes message board. There is still hope that NU will be reinstated but it's going to take some time, I'm afraid.

"A bit of history. When Michigan State became a member of the conference it was not a member of the AAU. It did not become an AAU member until 1964 after joining the conference in 1953. Purdue's AAU membership did not begin until 1958 after joining the conference in 1896. Also remember the Big Ten conference was formed before the AAU was formed. I think it is a mistake to think Nebraska would not have been admitted because of its AAU status. Obviously AAU members know what other members' status is.

I expect that Nebraska will begin work to attain membership once again."

Notre Dame is not an AAU member yet the B1G has been courting them for years so there are some huge inconsistencies here. I also learned that UNMC WAS once part of the NU system but they parted ways a long time ago. Does anyone have any history on this?

The whole thing just stinks. I don't know about anyone else but it rather taints our entrance into the B1G 10. Blah.

Gee. Being REALLY upset; lurking other boards for info; fans from other schools being pissed...I don't know who is the weirdest in this equation. With this whole kicked out of the AAU thing everyone needs to abide by the old stand-by: the one who cares least wins.

  5. Well.....I guess my degree is not any good now. I might as well take it down off of my office wall this Monday and toss it in the shredder. hmmph.gif

I keep mine on the fridge, supported by a magnet (my masters degree anyways). You should try it. I'm being serious

  6. Academic rankings are stupid. I haven't met a single person that was more or less prepared for the professional world because of the institution they attended. It's about what you do while you're there.

You obviously have never met a for-profit, distance-learning graduate.

  7. I don't know. I mean, AAU is mostly good schools, but they have some pretty "not good" schools in there too. I wouldn't be too concerned; not that bad to be left out. Worst case, in ten years when the application comes up for reevaluation, (I'm sure the University will attempt to regain membership) the research partnerships with other Big 10 universities will have provided ample opportunity to beef up UNL's resume/accomplishments.

  8. Suh= classy

    Fairley= unclassy d-bag

How do you figure (the Fairley part, that is)?

Did you watch the NC game?

    Or the Auburn-Georgia game?

I mean, yeah, I get that, but if you make that argument, you also have to reference what Suh did to Del-homo. Does that make him an "unclassy d-bag"?

  9. If I had it my way, we would go back to my avatar, 2001, best uniforms ever. Everything was lined up perfectly.

10 year anniversary throwbacks too. ;)

Adidas logo high right, Nebraska patch high left, and the word 'Nebraska' on top of the numbers, no stripes on the pants, high red socks for home and high white socks for the road, black shoes and laces. The cleanest uniform ever, and it still somewhat set us apart from everyone else. Loved that look.

Not seeing the numbers on the side, or even the shoulder pads, I think is missing a lot.

Now that we will be seeing Wisconsin a lot, is just another reason why to go back to the stripe-less pants.

We will know who our team will be when we are playing them, for obvious home/away reasons and the fact that we will be making more plays than them. ;)

On a more serious note, I have noticed that Wisconsin looks almost identical to us and it's really annoying.

They have their 'W' in the same spot as our Nebraska patch.

They have the double stripe pants, just like us.

They have a one letter logo on their helmet, just like us.

However, their helmet has two stripes while we have a solid, and their logo on their helmet is a block logo as opposed to our simple 'N'.

They also wear all-whites on the road, but in the 2011 Rose Bowl game, they wore red pants with their white top and looked very similar to us.

Hence them being the one of the reasons why we should go back to our 2001 look.

    :rant

Yes. Best Nebraska uniforms ever, although I preferred the away, red pants/white high socks look. I was in HS during the time and definitely rocked it in JV my first year.

What awesome pictures and great memories.

  10. I get the feeling, Urban may be coming out of retirement soon...

Money talks and that will be the deciding factor. He'll get an insane offer from the school he ends up choosing.

I think he's going to OSU

Urban's daughter posted this on Twitter an hour ago:

Stop txting me abt my dad. HE IS NOT repeat NOT, GOING TO OHIO STATE. thanks.

  11. I swear if jesus christ flew down here and played QB for Nebraska this upcoming season, people around here would still bitch.

    regarding tmobile....

Quickest first step TO has ever seen? check.

Broke most all-time freshman records @ NU? check.

Was a freshman last year? check.

Was a freshman all american last year? check.

    Will improve this year? check.

Will start barring injury throughout 2011? check.

You say this so leisurely (at least that's the way I imagine it). If my memory holds true, I saw him limp off the field at some point in the last 3 games he played in and still look pretty tender in the Spring game. You should have put this first and followed it with a TBD.
