  1. Trump deepens attack on former Miss Universe, calling her disgusting

Politico reported that Machado has starred in racy reality TV programs and posed naked for Playboy's Mexican version, but said media outlets have found no evidence that she has starred in pornographic films.

In rising to bait over the Machado issue Trump is in some ways echoing his lengthy public dispute in August with the parents of a Muslim Army captain killed in Iraq. That incident caused anguish among many Republican leaders concerned that he had nothing to gain by attacking a grieving family.

His remarks on Friday could hurt Trump further with women and Hispanic voters, both groups that favor Clinton in opinion polls.

An average of opinion polls aggregated by RealClearPolitics showed Clinton ahead of Trump by 2.9 percentage points on Friday, or 47.3 points to 44.4, slightly lower than the previous margin of 3 points on Wednesday, but well up from 0.9 point on Sept. 19. The latest Reuters/Ipsos national tracking poll, released on Wednesday, showed Clinton leading by 42 percent to Trump's 38 percent among likely voters.

I just wish Farenthold got more coverage. He's done fantastic this work during this election, but the media would rather cover the shiny red ball that is poll numbers or "Trump said _________, how does this affect the race?" Good, investigative journalism is getting buried, and even when it is put out there, it's way too easy for people for dismiss it for partisan reasons if they don't agree with it.

I saw the Politico headline about this, but I couldn't find their tweet. There headline is "Trump Jr: Releasing tax returns 'would detract from message.'"

Why? Because it would show he was in hock to everybody and a complete fraud?

What planet are we living on? One thing you cannot say about this election is that it's been boring...

I saw something (can't remember where) that there is no proof that he is actually being audited, as he has not produced paperwork stating he is in fact under audit.

I'm not sure I believe it and it could be completely false, but it fits his narrative of just making sh#t up as he goes.

I think you are most likely referring to THIS from Newsweek.

  3. Sorry, knapplc, I'm going to pass on spending time providing you with links when all you have to do is open your eyes to what's REALLY going on in our country. I've got MUCH more important things to do.

I just thought I'd drop in and let all of the Hillary apologetic people and enablers know that they're a bunch of flaming ruh-tards. That's all I've got for today. Thanks.

    That's quite enough. Goodbye...

  5. ***SNIP***

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - I heard an acoustic version by George Harrison that was amazing and have never been able to find it[/size]

    ***SNIP***

I wonder if this might be it. When the Love album was being created, an acoustic version of the song was the underlying basis for the song in the video - in fact, you can hear the acoustic version to begin the song, and it is under the added strings.

Giving Trump 1 from Nebraska and Clinton 1 from Maine, that gets us to 207/145. Giving Clinton the states where she is up by 9 pts gets her to 270 (not including NH at +8.9). So in this scenario, for Trump to win he has to win all of the below plus flip a state where Clinton is ahead by 9+ pts:

    Arizona 43.1%

    Florida 19.9%

    Georgia 47.2%

    Iowa 24.3%

    Missouri 58.4%

    Nevada 20.3%

    New Hampshire 17.3%

    North Carolina 24%

    Ohio 21.3%

    South Carolina 57.3%

I added the percentage chance Trump has of winning these states (per 538).

So....of those states that you say he has to win, 538 only gives him an above average chance of winning two of them.

    WTF Missouri?

Meth - it addles the brain...

  7. Trump Says He's 'Afraid' Election Is 'About to Be Rigged'

Donald Trump on Monday said he's "afraid" the November election "is about to be rigged," stoking mistrust of the system that he has fostered among his supporters.

The GOP nominee consistently complained of a system "rigged" against him as an "outsider" during the primaries. Now, with less than 100 days until the general election, Trump is again expressing doubts about the legitimacy of the process.

"I'm afraid the election's gonna be rigged. I have to be honest," Trump said.

  8. And here's the results from the appeal.

U.S. appeals court finds that Texas voter ID law is discriminatory

A Texas law requiring voters to show a government-issued form of photo identification before casting a ballot is discriminatory and violates the U.S. Voting Rights Act, a U.S. appeals court on Wednesday ruled.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in a close decision among a special 15-judge panel, also sent the case back to a district court to examine claims by the plaintiffs that the law had a discriminatory purpose.

The New Orleans-based Fifth Circuit, which has a reputation as one of the most conservative federal appeals courts, asked the district court for a short-term fix to be used in Texas in the November general election.

Funny thing, that. The "left" didn't do a thing to make it an issue. The blatant, obvious, virtually word-for-word, phrase-for-phrase, plagiarism spoke for itself. So, talk about deflection...

Umm..I saw Debbie Wass Schultz all over this topic earlier today. I guess if you don't consider her a part of the left, there is not much you can be convinced of.

Focus. Your claim is that the "left" made this an issue. Now, re-read my statement, above. Consider, for a moment the fact that there would be NO issue if there had been NO plagiarism, and then realize why your response is so wrong.

Listen (since you seem to like very direct approaches as a debating style by using words like focus a lot)...what you are suggesting makes sense in the context that the left did not make Melania's speech last night. So taking your thought process further, are you willing to state that the right did not make the Benghazi situation an "issue" since HIllary is the one who was in charge of the state department and had multiple missteps? Would you agree with that?

No - to do that would require ignoring the 7 or 8 or however many investigations and the millions or tens of millions or more spent by right-wing nut jobs to reveal that...there was no wrong-doing by Secretary Clinton. So, as to Benghazi, you have a case in which the nut-right manufactured an issue - and then much like the Keystone Cops, spent all that time and money disproving the very claim they tried to make into an issue.
