"After the Huskers suffered a losing season on the field in 2007 and experienced a shakeup in their coaching ranks, Josh Williams said his college future in Lincoln was very much in doubt. On Tuesday night the 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end out of Denton (Texas) Ryan received an in-home visit from new Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini. The blue-chipper out of the Lone Star State admitted that it couldn't have gone much better."- Orangebloods.com
This sounds pretty good. They have him listed as N.

Tebow was still playing in the 4th quarter every game this year, how much 4th quarter PT did Tommie get?

Ran across these recently. Too funny.

I don't see that interpretation in the rule book.

They will continue to be paid for the next 13 months, not necessarily as coaches. If they take another job for less money NU will make up the difference.

Whatever.....I guess you truly believe in your holier than thou status, since the topic in question is still locked. When did the rumor forum start and why? How would you suggest that particular topic to be read as a joke in the "lounge"? It was a bait and switch type of joke. I would suggest more of a Fuhrer type self gloss rather than a divine type self gloss. But, like you intimated, no room for alternative opinions. So deity it is.

I don't like Belichek, either. Interesting query: How much condecension would you put up with to win championships?
None at all, I can't stand when people act like that. He and Callahan both have that "greater than thou" attitude and I can't stand it.
Like how dare you question my decisions you lowly peasant!!
It's crazy that people even think that way. Gotta be something genetically wrong with them or something. Fire them both I say!!
I would have to agree. I would rather root for a team(coach) that is doing things the "respectable" way. I think that is one reason that there is so much respect for TO. He was successful in a humble and respectful way, and therefore he was given time to finally get over in the '90s. I do think that TO probably had similar thoughts in regard to his ability. He thought that he knew what he was doing, and probably wished that the media and some fans would get off his back throughout the '80s, however, he did not express this in a disrespectful way. He did make adjustments in recruiting, getting faster players for the defense, for instance.
Give me a 9-3 guy that doesn't condescend over an 11-1 guy that believes he defacates odorlessly. Eventually the "good" guy will get it done, and it will feel so much better when he does win.
Side note: This is how Longhorn fans see Mack Brown, a good guy who will occasionally win some big ones. Not necessarily a great gameday coach, but a good guy that will be competitive year in and year out.

I guess one should not question Putin the Red.

Tiger gambles. But is it really gambling when you win all the time? I think he has referred to MJ as his personal ATM. As a golf professional, I can't stress enough the level of skill that this man posesses, he has changed his swing 3 times and has won at every level. Hand eye coordination is unparalled. When he gets on a launch monitor, he knows everything before the computer even displays the numbers. Spin rate, launch angle, clubface open, closed degrees. Imagine, hit a ball, and know how fast it is spinning(2500rpm vs.2600rpm) know the difference between 12* and 13*launch and clubface was open 1/2*. His work ethic is unmatched, except for maybe Vijay. Who wouldn't want to watch history in the making?

Could've gone with the yeast infection set-up. Still, I got a chuckle. I don't think Dave Chapelle is worried, though.

Addison- Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. This is the best Husker board I've run across.(much better than the ESPN board) I guess I overreact to heavy handed tactics. Especially when it comes to matters of opinion. That kind of tactic is for the former U.S.S.R. I thought the thread was funny, in light of all the other "stuff" flying around. I'm glad Blackshirt moved it instead of locking it.

It's been fun reading and posting, albeit not very often, but if an admin can't take a harmless JOKE (amid all the BS rumors that have been flying fast and furious) then what's the point of trying to entertain one's self on a MESSAGE BOARD. I don't take myself too seriously, I guess Eric the (message board)GOD knows what is and isn't funny. No room for alternative opinions here. No room for me.

I think there is a saying that the most popular guy on a struggling team is the back-up QB.
Who was the idiot that was starting Bledsoe over Brady? Dude needs to get a clue! Oh, wait.... I guess he got one, eventually. He was an idiot with the Browns, now Lombardi couldn't hold his hoodie.
Here's hoping Ganz with a "Z" puts on a better show than Vegas boy Gans with an "S". It never ceases to amaze me what can pass for entertainment.
I think it will be a good game, that we will eventually lose.

Now that's a rumor that I can believe. I miss Godfathers and Runza Hut.

Should I give a crap what Crotch has to say? Might have been a good player on the field, but off the field and since he left, he is nothing mut an embarassment -- now their is a quitter.
So don't click.

Roddick still lives here in Austin. He recently did an instore appearance at Golfsmith. Yes, he is a big Husker fan.

The weather has been beautiful here, lately. I'll keep an eye out for him at Barton Creek Resort. I'll bet he's teeing it up. Maybe he wants to hang with Mack Brown. Mack has been very complimentary to NU and TO. There was a lot of anticipation for this game, locally speaking. Radio stations scheduled remotes a while ago, thinking that this would be an epic showdown. We kind of let them down. Eric Crouch was on 1300 the Zone yesterday, it was a good interview, he had a lot to say about the current state of the program. One of the things that the locals latched onto was Callahan's "no pads, flag football like practices" during the week.
I'm betting he's got a tee time for the Fazio Canyons at Barton Creek.
I don't remember TO and Mack being real tight because Mack wasn't around the Big 12 much before TO retired, but I do remember Mack and Solich being pretty tight.
If you don't mind, could you highlight some of the things Crouch said in his interview? Thanks in advance.
Shoot, I just lost about 20 minutes of post material.
Mack has said that he took an assistant's job at Iowa St. earlier in his career just to get close to Nebraska and Tom Osborne and see how things were done at NU. He has also mentioned TO and NU, several times, when describing the atmosphere that he was creating at UT.
As far as Eric's interview, he mostly commented on how things are different now. He reminisced about the physical nature of practices back in the day. They were so physical that gameday felt like a break, and therefore was fun and easy. He sounded disgusted with the "no pads in practice" theory. He said it looks very hard for the players to play a game, now. He was promoting something called the All American Football League. The shows host is Bucky Godbolt, who was on John Macovick's staff. He was the one who called "Roll Left" at the '96 B-12 championship. He recruited Ricky Williams, also, so he's pretty knowledgable on college football. They talked about how embracing traditions and former greats is the way to instill pride in current players. Eric said that he doesn't think that the current players are being told about Nebraska's past greats, and traditions. That they are not told of the importance and pride of having that "N" on your helmet. They talked about the walk-on program and how it changed and how it was a source of players who wanted to play for the University. The whole gist of the interview was things have changed, not that change is necessarily bad, but that traditions and the past should still be embraced, and it doesn't seem like these things are being embraced. So the players aren't playing football with pride, Nebraska football, and are definitely not haing any fun. Bucky noted many similarities between Callahan and Mackovick. The arrogant, condescending nature in press conferences, the stubborness to accept no responsibility when things are melting down, and the lack of emphasis on defense. Apparantly, Macovick had his knee blown out in a practice when he was standing in the wrong place on a particular play that came his way. Then a few months later, stood in the same place for the same play, in practice, and reinjured the same knee. If you get a chance, listen in the mornings online the rest of the week, all Nebraska game all the time. http://www.am1300thezone.com/main.html

A bunch(500 or so) of Husker fans rented out Scholtz's Beer Garden for a get together on Friday night. Scholtz's is a rather historic place here in Austin. Located just south of campus on San Jacinto at 17th street.
I think it starts around 8:00p.m. If anyone is going to be in town, that should be some fun. I've gotta go get my son from school now, but I will post more events that could be happening. Possible golf get together, also.

Someone needs to ask Herm Edwards why games are played.
Playing the best players at their respective positions shouldn't be this difficult to figure out.
Whether it's Ganz, Lee, Witt, or even Spano, the QB who makes the most plays and has the fewest mistakes should play.
From what I understand, that is how Pelini will operate. If he is a no BS kind of guy, he will have a hard time explaining why he's playing younger, greener players to improve NU's chances in 2009.
Also, as recent history tells us, he won't have a lot of breathing room if he fails to produce some sort of championship in his first 4 years.
Are top recruits going to want to come here in the next few years if we are not competitive soon?
The best players should play. It doesn't have to be complicated, unless you want it to be.
