  1. I think they look good. One thing I'm noticing from the close up shots is the inconsistent pant logoing. The red pants have a white "N" on left hip and a white Adidas logo on the right hip. The white pants just have the black Adidas logo on the left hip, no "N". I think removing the pant stripes will lower the chances of sporting all white or all red uniforms in the future. I don't have an opinion if that is good or bad.

Edit: The numbers 1 and 3 were used as an indication of the number of wins Adidas is predicting for Nebraska. Which means we lose in the championship game. :koolaid2:

He had something in 2009 which Meyer already knew about, and if I had to guess they would’ve let him hire him anyway.

Smith is Earl Bruce's grandson. I'm sure there was no issue with hiring him. Courtney Smith claims she was pressured into dropping the abuse charges in 2009 by a relative of Earl Bruce and Urban Meyer's life coach. Also, it's not like there is any history of local police in big time college towns buying brooms and rugs in bulk due to all the sweeping of misdeeds by temporary local heroes.

The class issues were from when he was in California before he transferred to Texas.

OK. The core classes weren't a problem for a transfer to Texas, but not ok for a transfer back to California? That makes sense. I hope it gets resolved. It just seems like he knows his path is athletics, but has been told to jump through a few of the wrong hoops to be able to secure an opportunity.

  4. Without knowing much about his Texas high school experience, I can say with confidence that any issues that he had with a Deion Sanders' affiliated high school should be taken with a boulder of salt. It doesn't surprise me that there are issues with core classes transfering to other institutions of education. I thought it was Euless Trinity that he went to. Deion has had issues with UIL before with his Prime Prep Academy. I'm sure this is a similar situation.

  5. OK. This helps me understand more about Maurice's situation. I was thinking Euless Trinity, not Deion's latest private athletic high school. There were a lot of issues with his Prime Prep Academy in regards to instructor certification......in Texas......so I'll just leave that here. Texas is known for many things. High standards for instructors or private learning institutions isn't one of them. He keeps trying to create a Texas version of that agent run academy in Florida, except without the world class tutors. More like Uncle Rico teaching sociology class.

Out of curiosity, what part of the country/world do you live in and are you using a hardline connection to your xbox or going off of WiFi? Being in the Midwest (specifically, Omaha) it seems that many of the servers offer a strong ping for me. I'm guessing things are a little bit different on the XBOX though since I know many console games don't have server browsers and don't show you pings. Often times, you're at the mercy of the matchmaking system.

You're spot on about Siege of Shaghai though. It's incessant. That, Lancang Dam and Golmud Railway are constantly popping up. I like all those maps just fine but seems like a lot of the servers are constantly placing those on repeat whereas other maps I really like (Pearl Market, Silk Road, Paracel Storm) don't show up as often.

I live in Keller, Texas. It's just northeast of Fort Worth. I grew up in Omaha.

There is a server browse option. You can customize game mode, number of open slots in a server, maps desired and region. A ping gauge is shown in the form of bars like on your cell phone. This is one area where BF1 is better than BF4. I rented a server for my platoon in BF4 and we could customize a lot of match parameters, but a region lock was not available. BF1 servers feature a ping ceiling, where a server can be set to block or kick players at a set ping level of the renter's choice. If your ping is too high, you can't join the server. It seems to make a big difference. Rubberbanding is non-existent and I rarely get take damage behind cover in BF1.

I've thought about rolling back around to BF1 (PC). I haven't played since the French DLC so I've missed a lot.

Last month, on a whim, I got back into BF4 and I've been playing that whenever I get a chance. I forgot how much fun and how good that game is and there's still a pretty large player base on PC; at least, large enough that there are multiple options and active servers still.

Yeah, BF4 is still really active on the xbox, too. There is a latency issue with that game for me. I thought it would have been solved with the addition of South American servers. It's better than it was, but BF1 performs better for me. The only map anyone plays anymore is Siege of Shanghai, so I get bored fast, but I really enjoy flying helicopters.

The newer BF1 maps are really good. I don't care for the dlc weapons, though.

  8. LOL. This thread is 8 years old. Several posters that I don't really see posting, anymore.

I'm still playing Fallout 4 and Battlefield 1. We have an xbox1. I've been playing Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain a decent amount, since it was free on last months xbox gold dealio.

I read an article last week about a group of gamers that is keeping the NCAA 14 College Football game current by going through each college teams' roster and making the player profiles for each new player. I still have that game, fruitlessly hoping for a backwards compatibilty that will never happer because Sam Keller.

  9. Some message boards actually get to pick coaches and athletic directors. See Tennessee. I read the article. Some schools seem to cater to certain message boards and other schools seem to be oblivious that message boards even exist. That TexAgs one is very influential. ShaggyBevo, not so much actual influence, just a steady source of embarrassment for the ShortTusks.

I assume this question is for the Duck-back RB position.  I don't know why they just go back to calling it a Wingback.  It's basically the same position and skill-set which Osborne used back in the day.

That would confuse millennials. There would be confusion over which chicken wing joint this idea came from. "Wingback? Didn't I just pick up an order of those with Siracha sauce?"

Well ideally I'd like to call it the Heisman-Trophy-Winning-Back-With-A-National-Championship-Ring, but I don't know if that rolls off the tongue, and it's not true... Yet

I will practice until it becomes like the McDonalds "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun" song rolling off the tongue if that becomes true.

A duck moves well in the air and on the ground, a corn husk does nothing laying on the ground and only moves in the air when the wind blows - not exactly the definition of versatile.

Well, dry land would be third on a list of environments that a duck moves well in. Air, water, then land. I hope our Duck-Rs don't waddle around. Although, it would be nice if, like in traffic, all come to a stop as our Duck-R leads a line of small-ish freshman around and about all the way to the endzone.....

I like Husk-R. That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Pretty sure you're preaching to the choir here.

I guess I'm just wondering why reasonable expectations are considered a kind of defeatist attitude to some. It was posited that we have more talent in the Big 10 than anyone save OSU and Mis#!tigan. I expressed my belief that the talent we have hasn't been trained to perform very well, therefore I believe we might lose a few games. I don't believe I was preaching, I was expressing my reasoning for the beliefs or expectations I have for the upcoming season. I think it's going to a great year with a few more wins than last year and a lot more competitiveness.

It's hard to base anything on last years performance expecially when it was fairly obvious the Defense quit on Diaco following his actions and comments during and after the Northwestern game.

That said strictly on recruiting talent we were already one of the 25 most talented teams in the country not counting incoming players.

    We added:

The #1 Juco RB who is good enough that he probably starts Day 1.

The #2 Juco WR who is probably one of the 5 fastest players in the country.

The #6 Juco WR who runs a sub 4.4 and caught 7 td's playing for EMCC (aka Last Chance U)

The #2 Juco Safety Who looks like an absolute headhunter.

The #1 ILB Who already looks like he will be one of the best players on the team and an anchor in the middle of the defense.

AND we added Breon Dixon who will start at the hybrid OLB/Nickel spot.

This team has more talent than every team on that schedule everyone is worried about except Ohio State an Michigan. (And in reality Michigan is not much more talented than Nebraska.)

As it stands 6 wins would be a big underachievement.

Has all that talent been working out properly? Has all that talent learned effective tackling techniques? No way all that talent learned effective blocking techniques because one has to be in proper shape to execute effective blocking techniques. We have some exciting juco players coming here, I agree, but they were in juco last year. The Big 10 has a little stiffer competition than these guys have seen. I don't see a problem with realistic expectations. Aspirations are different. 12 and 0 all day long.

  15. He could have a lot more to work with here, agreed. We could be a much better team than UCF was last year and still go 7-5 with the schedule that we play. UCF was very good and proved something with the bowl win over Auburn, but they had a relatively favorable schedule. I like the phrase "reasonable expectations". I think we will see a vast improvement in level of play we see in games. I think we will see a minor improvement in our record at the end of the year. I don't anticipate feeling like Nebraska has zero chance in any game we play this year, unlike last year when the entire second half of the season I felt completely hopeless in any game we played. I understand we won't go 12-0, but I expect to enjoy solid play in every game. I expect a solid, unified effort every game. We win some, we lose some, but I don't want to feel hopeless in any contest.

Bamba could be the best player in the draft long term but Doncic to Dallas is a great fit and Luka could definitely be the best prospect in the draft right now and long term. That is not for certain, but in Dallas I think his chances of success go up a bit than if he had gone to some other franchises.

Agreed, but the one and done will be gone in a few years, Mavs already have Dennis Smith Jr and zero frontcourt. A future first round pick is a hefty price for another guard. From what I've seen, Doncic handles the ball a lot, Dennis Smith is the point guard. They struck gold with Dirk 20 years ago, there have been a decent amount of wtfs since then. We'll see. I think it's good for Doncic. I wonder if Carlyle had a preference.

  17. I think it is his confidence. He believes in his game and his game plan and is able to execute his shots well enough to stick to his plan. He wasn't ever really far off of the lead and never really got too sideways to have to start pin hunting. If he gets more than 1 stroke behind Tommy (the illegitimate son of the forgotten Beatle) Fleetwood, he might have started to press and that's when Three Jack jumps out of shadows and knifes you in the back.

  18. I see the whole "expectation" discussion as dancing about architecture. So, when one goes to Las Vegas, should one expect to win a lot more than they lose? The last time I saw this team, they looked like the fresh meat heading into a  back-alley, high stakes, Yakuza pai gao game. Knowing where I'm gambling will adjust expectations accordingly. Our schedule next year is Yakuza Pai Gao. I would expect to lose money, and would be happy to break even and leave alive.

When we're in the Bellagio playing 5 dollar Black Jack, I will expect to come out ahead and have a few nice drinky drinks. I will enjoy both experiences. Unless Yakuza murders me, then not so much.
