  1. And.....?

He also, according to what you said, had an Arkansas and Illinois hat on the table. Were they just as "burned" as Nebraska or do they get a pass because they're not Nebraska?

Why is it that you seem to be relishing the one LB we didn't get instead of celebrating the three we did get in this class? And for the record, all three of the LBs we currently have committed are rated higher than this Beisel kid-at least according to rivals.com with Banderas and Newby both rated as 5.7 4 stars.

And what about the four we signed in last year's class? In which three of the four are rated higher than Beisel. Only one, Thomas Brown, is rated as a 5.6 like Beisel is.

Dude chill out, I wasn't slamming Nebraska........I said we weren't recruiting him very hard because we already have 3 BETTER linebackers. And yeah I agree, the 4 last year were better too. I just thought it was funny to see a Nebraska hat on the table when I knew we weren't really pursuing him much.

Seriously braj, take pill full of chill.

I wasn't slamming you. I was merely asking you what I thought were logical questions and backing up my observations with relevant data. So now the question is, why are you gettin' all defensive bra?

    Hug it out fellas

  2. Had Johnny committed three weeks ago to a school like USC, Stanford, Alabama or LSU, then he would have made a jump to light speed to a 5* already. Doesn't matter to me though, I think we have a good one in JS and I'll look forward to hearing what his high school team does this year. Enjoy this year Johnny.

    Couldn't agree more^^

A very good quarterback prospect, a great athlete, and a good apple. Every new interview I see this kid reminds me more and more of Burkhead. He seems to have a great head on his shoulders in addition to being fully committed to NU.

  3. To bad we missed out on getting Virgile's signature.

Well we can't sign everybody - though the SEC schools do a pretty good job :sarcasm

Well... Virgile was at a position of need.. yes. But he was a 2 star on one site a three star on another and ranked 130+ at his position. And, yes he did not sign. That said, Todd Peat --- a 4 star... near 5 star guy did... and surprisingly so. I'll take that trade any day.

Virgile was not a major recruit. Peat was. God day for the Big RED

I was talking about signing 30-40 players in one class

    USC we are not...

I love the top to bottom quality of this class, and it's always great to see those walk on commitments!! God bless those Good ol' home grown heroes!

  4. Alright, Im ready for an all-nighter with this thread, who's with me? I expect a lot of rampid speculation and rumors just like last year in the Owa thread the day before signing day.

I'M IN!!! Last year I wasn't a member of this bored and I got updates while sitting in class. This year should be a little better.

    Oh snap!

bored, eh? ... which is German for a whale's vagina??

Sometimes you just have to say when in Rome... :rollin

I'm sure you meant super stimulating, amazingly awesome husker forum ;)

  5. Any husker brethren out there know if they use electronic timing devices at the state track meet in Alabama? Just curious considering his stellar 100m dash times at the 2010 state meet. Not saying he has better football speed, but Aaron's times are even better than Davie's!

When I ran track in Georgia (which, of course, isn't Alabama, but is in the same region) all of the meets utilized handheld watches. Granted this was 10 years ago and races that I personally ran in utilized sun-dials.

He has a track offer from LSU, if that puts things in perspective. It's simple, if we offer, he's N.

Yep.. I think that'll suffice. The kid can fly. Speaking of track, Nebraska has a pretty solid track team, no? We have plenty of kids double-dipping on the football team. Why not one more?? chuckleshuffle

I can't tell if that's sarcastic...do we really have a lot of double dippers? The last one I knew of was Gilleylen, and I don't even think he runs track anymore?

Sorry... generalized reference to our football+ athletes.

  8. New Rivals teaser saying he'll be visiting sometime this summer.

Another thing I thought was quite impressive is the fact that this kid can bench press 405 lbs. three times. For a Junior that is scary. He also squats 695.

And then he does this 500 lbs press:

That stuff used to impress me, but I think it has a lot less bearing than I once thought. I remember a guy we had on the O-line a few years ago who could bench 705 or something like that, and didn't see a down.

I think 705 might be a little on the high side??? World record is around 715 me thinks..... but maybe he was an ex-husker!

Anyone know the husker bench record?

  9. 40 time matters a little, but .2 seconds does not.... if it was like 5.0 or something, then yes he's too slow

I disagree. I would say a 4.8 is too slow!

..... is there a 'tongue in cheek' emoticon?

  10. Haha that is what I get for typing too fast. Read my edit.

I assumed as much. Just busting your chops friend!

Seriously though, kid lookds like a stud. The Pelini's good do scary things with him

I don't think you should be busting anyone's chops for what they say

HA! Ain't karma a ditch! That's what the funny gets for spouting off!

Hey.. as long as you appreciate the hilarity of the situation it's all good B.

  12. Any update on this guy? I have a few people from Plano East and think it'd be cool to get him here.

What exactly does "having" people entail?

    J/K

..... but seriously. What the flip???

*sarcasm is safely assumed in the aforementioned blurp*

  13. There is information on Rivals that DE Anthony Chickillo will be there. Can anyone with a subscription verify that and any others that are for sure coming.

Check out the post about 7 below yours. They do a great job of keeping track of all the confirmed visitors. If you have a question posting it in there would be most helpful :)

... Except that post is for Junior Day visitors not Spring Game visitors.

ummmmmm yeaaaaaaah....... can I face palm myself??

  15. The aforementioned quote for those of you who don't like to scroll. You know who you are! :)

The majority of the time would be just two WR, and they would probably be in for short yardage catches or blocking. To me only Niles Paul would be suited for that, i can't think of would line up on the other side since we lose Holt and Brooks, and Gilleylen isn't good at blocking. Maybe Kyler Reed as you said, but once again, his abilities are possession TE not a blocking TE.

  16. Kinnie?

He was on the field alot towards the end of this season. I am most excited about him next year- big body, started to show some improvement at the end of the year.

Yeah... that didn't sound right. I was responding to the post before mine.

I should have clarified... I see him taking over the side opposite Paul, not transferring. I agree, he really came on strong towards the end of the season, and looked pretty friggin physical! There was an article some time back talking about his new emphasis on blocking. As I remember he was pretty impressive as a receiver initially, but couldn't block to save his life. The guy has come quite a ways!

  17. wow what an athlete, i doubt he'll be a three star much longer unless he just has rocks for hands

Kid sure doesn't shy away from contact! Nice to see a receiver willing to put his shoulder down on the sidelines.

  18. So, I don't remember what part of the game it was, but at some point their was a bit of a scuffle on the field, one of our players removed his helmet, got a personal foul call, and then collapsed on the field in pain. All I saw was two guys on top of him during the kickoff, and then them getting into a little argument.

Anybody see what happened? I missed it and didn't hear any of the announcers on the radio after the game talk about it.

Eric Martin got into it with a couple of the ASU players. He got up and ripped his helmet off. I don't know he he came to be on the ground writhing in pain??? He looked fine popping up off the ground and then pulling his hat off. He made it down the field 10 yards or so before doubling over. Maybe it was preemptive...... "coach is going to put a boot in my a$$....... yowza!!!"

In all seriousness though, I hope he is OK. He looked to be clutching his chest maybe???

EDIT: Dang I am slow! Looks like you guys got it covered......
