  4. Prospects on hand

All four of the official visitors expected by NU coaches made it to Lincoln Saturday. NU commits Mike Moudy and Donovan Vestal, both three-star recruits according to rivals.com, were in attendance, as well as Tejay Johnson and Harvey Jackson.

Jackson is a three-star defensive back prospect out of Missouri City, Texas. He had been quoted earlier in the week saying he expected to commit to Nebraska this weekend.

Other prospects on the sidelines during pregame festivities included 2010 pledges Andrew Rodriguez from Aurora and Tyler Evans of Waverly, as well as 2011 commit Ryne Reeves of Crete. Also on hand were in-state prospects Daniel Davie (Beatrice), Cole Fischer, Lincoln Hansen and Dion Jones (all of Millard North) and Glenn Lewis (Papillion-La Vista).

Anyone got the 411 on the in-state prospects? Presumably they are walk-on candidates. :dunno

Cole Fisher is Sean Fisher's younger brother I believe. He and Davie are 2011 prospects. I assume the others would be walk on candidates??

  5. Whooptie-freakin'-doo for Mr. Potty Mouth over there in black and gold.

    :golfclap

You stay classy sir..... you stay classy.

I think the only thing this mizzou fan 'deserves' is to be forced to read this after the hangover subsides

    do'h!!!

(i am not implying that this fan is representative of mizzou as a whole.... although he seems to imply that he is :hmmph )

  6. QB Jared Barnett committed to Iowa State and no one saw that coming.

What is so unbelievable about that?

Do you not understand English? I just said no one predicted him going there. People shouldn't write off Iowa State just because they have been in a rough patch recently. It wasn't too long ago they were challenging for a North division title.

Is he considered a 'hidden gem'? Just curious why no one predicted him to go there. I am by no means a recruiting guru :dunno

He does not appear to have much interest from D1 schools.... but i suppose scout and rivals are not quite as omniscient as they would like us to believe.....:dunno

  7. id take walker....hes faster (i like dual threat QBs)

I would take Walker over Bell as well

Have you guys seen him play? Just curious :dunno

Going by the offers, and the fact that rivals has Bell as the number 1 qb/dual threat qb, i would think Bell would be the clear prefernece at this stage. Once again, not knocking your opininons. I know the rankings can be rather skewed to say the least ;)

  8. id take walker....hes faster (i like dual threat QBs)

I would call 4.68 to 4.70 margin of error..... or are those not the 40's you're looking at? Isn't Blake Bell considered a dual-threat guy?

  9. Did either of those two QB's lead their team to the state title game, and kick a game winning field goal? I guess it shows you what kind of talent they have in Texas, if a guy like Cody Green is only honorable mention.

Yes to the state title game (Lake Travis is in the 4-A Div 1 finals), but you've got me on kicking a game winning field goal, for whatever that means, unless we think Green may double as a kicker.

The second team QB is only a junior, and has not been sharing kicking duties in games yet, but he has been making 55+ yarders in practice, and has run the 100m in 10.5....................... <_<

totally made thatt last part up... in fact the only truth to that is that he's a junior

  10. Cody Green made honorable mention for the Texas 4-A All-State football team, named by the state AP sports editors. I'll bet someone is going to claim a bias against the Huskers for why he's not first or second team. :dumdum

First team was Garrett Gilbert from Lake Travis, where I believe Todd Reising was also from. He's going to UT, and while I don't follow recruiting that closely, I've seen him as very highly ranked. 38 TDs and just 2 INTs.

Second team was a kid from Denton.

I don't think the 5A team has come out yet.

http://www.statesman.com/news/content/gen/...State_List.html (you might need an account to see this)

That second team qb (scott young) tossed 65 tds according to rivals!?!?!?!

  11. Why are you complaining? How about these guys?

Todd Peterson. Nate Swift. Meno Holt. Niles Paul. Terrence Nunn. Mo Purify.

Nate Swift is my all-time favorite Husker, so I'm going to choose my words very carefully.

Our offense, besides Roy Helu, has absolutely no playmakers that can stretch the field. Our WR's don't really scare anybody. They are great possesion guys, but they do not deserve to be in the same breath as a Dez Bryant, Mike Crabtree, Jeramy Maclin, or Desmond Briscoe. I am worried about how we are recruiting WR's. I'd like to see us recruit more dangerous WR's who can stretch the field at any given time, and stop recruiting big bodied, possesion WR's.

I think that our staff would love to get a true deep-threat, but these type of guys, for whatever reason, rarely even consider Nebraska. I can't think of a WR we have had since Fryar that possessed game-breaking speed.

Maybe Brandon Kinnie could give us that game changing speed that we need.

Everything I have heard about him suggests Gillyen has the top tier speed you speak of....... i believe he has had some problems in the hands department though :dunno

  12. If we should loose well stand buy the road

My biggest pet peave of ALL TIME!!! IT IS LOSE....L O S E!!! LOOSE is what your mom is after a night working the street corner...I have no idea how or why LOSE is spelled LOOSE on message boards. It just blows my mind... :rant

Let it go man. PowerWagon isnt known for his Pulitzers.

    :rollin

  13.

Sort of a moot point on the duke recruiting. if i were given a chance between UNL and Duke I would take duke in a heart beat. No comparison for the undergraduate education between the two. Same can be said for stanford / the ivies.

You're kidding right?! If I was a football player, NU of course. Basketball player, Duke of course.

I agree with JonahLomu. What elite football player is going to choose Duke over Nebraska?

If academics are a strong priority, then I could see it. What about that DT from Maryland that just commited to Stanford over NU?

Maryland has had a pretty strong year...... can't say it really compares to Duke football and, their one annual preseason top 25 sympathy vote from Spurrier (I think). :dunno

  14. Kinnie is a juco 3 to play 2. Likely to commit. We win big and we should fill the class very soon.

Mcburse situation has been very quiet as he is starting to get alot of interest.

I believe Kinnie is a redshirt Fr so he would have 3 years of eligibility..... forgive me if someone mentioned this already :dumdum

  15. Well the best thing about the visit list is that the UL and FSU games shouldn't be to crazy of atmospheres, and Tennessee will most likely lose that game. So if we could pull off a win with a good atmosphere and it being his last visit I would say that plays in our favor.

uh...papa johns stadium WILL be very rocking that week. Kentucky won the last game that is their rival, it'd be like nebraska playing every big 12 north team and OU at the same time.

Is this a sarcastic statement??? 42,000 capacity at papa john's..... average attendance of less than 40,000 per game last year. Lets do the math. Every other big 12 north team+ OU (6 games worth of attendance at 85k per game if at home). 510,000 yelling fans..... does not compute.

Our spring game was more "rocking".

No offense.....just didn't see any logic. Maybe I missed some sarcasm???

  16. very good size and some speed. i would be surprised if Texas didn't land him.

Texas already has Garrett Gilbert comitted (#15 on rivals top 100). They might not be a factor. :dunno , assuming he wants to stay at qb.

And LSU has Russell Shepard though I'm not sure if he is a QB or Athlete for them.

Do you suppose it's between us and TAMU?

    LSU also has Chris Garrett.

.... certainly isn't going to hurt us. Sounds very promissing. Buckle up. Sounds like the roller coaster ride that is recuriting seson is picking up speed:D :nanalama
