  1. Even a bigger ground out, was the fact that Eichorst was in San Fran, and we all know his first choice was Harbaugh, and that was quickly turned away. Then Mr Riley was on the board somewhere from our 3rd to 5th choice. We know that Bielema was contacted. We know that Harbaugh was first choice. I think Riley was at least 3rd on the list if not 4th or 5th. Like I have said, the new Tv deal almost guarantees us at least 40 million $ per year once its up and running in full capacity. That right there should have been enough to lure in a huge home run hire. I guess at some point you decide if Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball and other sports really matter. Alabama doesn't care about anything other than football. Most of the athletic budget is generated thru the football program. Its time for Nebraska to consider where we stand. Do we want to compete in all major sports or do we put our eggs back into our football basket and start acting like 1980"s Nebraska.

You do realize that the only reason Eichorst went down to San Fran was because Riley was down there recruiting for OSU and, that the NU president happen to already be down there for a conference?

  2. Surgically remove Steve Pederson from being hired. His absence would have eliminated Callahan and his era of Husker tradition destruction. Don't know if Solich would have been fired or what another coach might have done. For sure, Husker history would have been gone down a different path.

I agree, though here are few minor things I wish wouldn't have happened or would have

    Scott Baldwin - mental illness

Mike grant injury - before he got hurt he was one of the best option QB'S I've seen up to that point in Osborne offense. After his injury he played timid.

Not getting O'Dell James and losing him to Baylor. WTH?

Terrel Farley - Drunk driving problems

  3. I have said this many times it is not all the special teams that were bad last year. Only punt return was completely terrible. That needs to be fixed. Out KO and Kick return were actually pretty good. Our punt team was a little below average, but that is due to our punter being so erratic.

The punt return team needs a complete change in philosophy.

Although I can think of a few time of what the hell is he doing when Nebraska players decided to take the ball out of the Endzone on kick returns. Take in point in the Northwestern game when NW just took the lead and left Nebraska with 120 left on the clock. Quincy Enunwa (Not known for his speed) instead of downing the ball and getting the ball automatically on the 25 he takes off straight down the field and gets tackled around the 15 and takes 6 seconds off the clock.

It's moments like these that make you what what the coaches are telling theses players or, if there is even communication going on during key moments.

  4. Geographically Iowa could fit the bill as a rival, and due to their close proximity there seems to be a fair amount of animosity between the fanbases. But location and hatred alone do not a rivalry make. I believe for a true rivalry there needs to be at least some mutual respect and some give and take (win some lose some, including some upsets or heartbreakers). Iowa, in recent history, has not taken anything from us and we have little reason to respect them on the field of play. So, in many ways, they are just another one-sided rival in the mold of Colorado. Sure we hated them and loved beating them, the worse the better, but for all but a few year stretch they just weren't good enough to earn the rival status from us. Sorry Iowa, you are CU light.

For many of our younger fans (me included) who weren't around for the Oklahoma games, Colorado/Missouri were the only rivals we knew. So you guys that got to experience the OU games saying that Colorado was forced upon you after Oklahoma bailed and it was never a true rivalry game, it may feel like that to you, but not everyone.

Just an FYI, not trying to be a smartass or anything, but Oklahoma didn't bail on the rivalry. Texass didn't allow it to continue when the Big 12 started so they could fabricate that thier rivalry was bigger with OU. Before the Big 12 started it was just a nice OOC game that OU usually dominated, but it never meant anything until Texass was allowed to join and take over the conference due to thier $$$$$.

FYI Oklahoma was given a chance to play Nebraska every year as a designated game, but they turned it down. If i remember it right the coach for Oklahoma said it would be unfair to have to play both Texas and Nebraska every year.

Also have to remember that the Big twelve was formed in the 90's and Nebraska was the big dog and Oklahoma was in a down decade.

  5. How about QB coach? Create the position. I think that would be perfect for him.

Pretty cool about Ronnie wanting to become a GA. It will be nice still seeing him down there.

Thought that NU was trying to fix the turnover problem. Talking about the QB coach, not about Ronnie becoming GA.
