  1. I hear he was caught talking to an agent, or something along those lines. (i.e. accepting gifts, money)… the inappropriate money seems to be the most plausible explanation… im sure NU learned their lesson from watching what happened to Rhett Bomar in Oklahoma… even Thunder Collins got about 40 second chances, but when he got caught getting side cash he got booted immediately… a program runs the risk of forfeiting games if they knew and didn’t address the issue…

  2. I have heard from a source that lives with a player that the Glenn was caught talking with an agent. Bo has told all players not to provide anybody with any specifics at risk of suspension.

This explanation makes more sense to me than steroids, rape, blackshirt, or weed. And considering Tom Osborne's feelings towards sports agent's interference, the punishment does fit the crime.

  4. Mike Ekeler, who is an assistant strength coach at LSU, similar to what Joe Rudolph did at Ohio State is also joining the staff. I've been told Ekeler has a lot of experience and he's real tight with the Pelini's and Stoops'. He's actually from Blair, NE and played at K-State. Another Husker connection is he's former NU All-American Bob Martin's nephew.

Both Ekeler and John Papuchis are already on the road recruiting. So with those two LSU guys on board, I believe that makes one spot left on staff that we haven't confirmed....I've got Carl Pelini, Ron Brown, Barney Cotton, Marvin Sanders, Shawn Watson, Ted Gilmore, Mike Ekeler and John Papuchis as eight of the nine guys on staff...I believe that leaves one offensive spot open at this point...I'm hearing it could be Randy Jordan for the final spot.

ekler is going to do very very well for yall. good pick up. i know papuchis personnaly, through his wife, he's been wanting out of br for a while now.

Hope they like cold winters and hot humid summers.

Don't they have the second there in Louisiana?

Yep they do, but they don't go to below zero in the winter, point being the drastic changes in climate.

I think Ekeler will be fine with the weather... he spent some time at Minnesota-Mankato as Jeff Jamrog's DC... and he grew up an hour from Lincoln...

  6. i dont think Greg Schiano would want to come here even if it were offerred to him... his roots are in New Jersey, and he already turned the Miami job where he was a DC during the 99-2000 seasons... i really think he is holding out for Paterno to retire/die... and then take that job where he began his college coaching career...

  7. I BET THIS PIC IS FROM LAST HALLOWEEN... REMEMBER WHEN MCKEON AND HILL ALMOST BURNED THEIR HOUSE DOWN AND THEN HAD A PARTY THE WEEK THEY GOT TO MOVE BACK IN...

    FROM LJS - NOVEMBER 1, 2006

MCKEON: “We’re back in this month. We just moved in. We had a little bit of a Halloween bash to kick it off. We’ve got some new floors, some new kitchen stuff. We’re back in and hopefully we can avoid the next (fire).”

GOOD THING HE HAS HIS PRIORITIES STR8...

HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD THE STORY THAT MCKEON WAS SEEN ON "O" STREET 1 HOUR AFTER THE OSU DEBACLE LAST WEEK?

  8. TEXAS A&M IS ALL ABOUT TOMMY TUBBERVILLE... AND BILL BYRNE HAS THE ABILITY TO PULL HIM OUT OF AUBURN JUST LIKE HE DID TO FRANCHIONE...

IF TUBBERVILLE DOENST GO WE NEED TO HONE IN ON WILL MUSCHAMP....

CHECK THIS LINK FOR A LITTLE BACKGROUND...

    http://www.realfootball365.com/college/art...p_its_only.html

Um, Franchione was available. Alabama had just been hit with more sanctions, and Franchione was running like hell to get out of there. I wouldn't exactly say $ Byrne had to pull many/any strings to get Coach Fran. Considering Tubberville's run at Auburn, I highly doubt he's going to be lured away. A&M is just like NU. why hire a HC from Auburn? The only reason Tubberville would consider is because he wants Franchione money. After he's there a few years, someone else pays him a little more and he's gone. Is that what A&M wants? I highly doubt it. IMO, the bidding war for Bo will be between NU and A&M. In the end, I think Bo picks NU for a couple of reasons. 1) He has some ties here being the DC for a year. 2) Even Bo knows the North sucks. Why go to the South and not only have to butt heads every year with OU and Texass on the field but for recruiting as well? Other than Colorado, NU is the easiest of places of the North schools to recruit to.

FRANCHIONE WAS AWARE OF MIKE DUBOSE'S MESS AND PUBLICLY CLAIMED HE WOULD ACCEPT ALL NCAA SANCTIONS AND WOULD NOT LEAVE... BUT HE WAS OFFERRED OVER 2 MILLION REASON TO LEAVE BY BYRNE... AND HE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE COOP AND HEAD TO GREENER PASTURES... ALBEIT VIA VIDEO CONFERENCE...

TUBERVILLE COULD GET SIMILAR TREATMENT... AND LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT 2006's "Top Grades and No Class Time for Auburn Players" DEBACLE... IMO... TOMMY WILL LEAVE WHILE THE GETTIN IS STILL GOOD AND HEAD BACK TO A PLACE WHERE HE WAS LAST AN ASSISTANT... A&M

I DEFINITELY AGREE ABOUT PELINI PREFRRING THE NORTH... HE IS A NATIVE OF YOUNGSTOWN, OH... PLAYED AT OHIO STATE... PLUS COACHED AT NEW ENGLAND AND GREEN BAY... I HAVE A FEELING HE PREFERS THE NORTHERN CLIMATE...

  9. We have had 85 ships throughout the 90s. Why was NU getting better when the other schools were talking about parity and scholarship limitations? We were playing FOOTBALL, while everyone else was trying to get on Mel Kiper's draft list! Running the option and powering the ball on folks might not look good to outsiders, but it always got atleast 9 wins and a top notch offense and not embarrasing loses at home to unranked teams!

DONT FORGET ABOUT THE BIG 12 COMMITTEE ENDING PROP 48/PARTIAL QUALIFIER PLAYERS.. MANY OF OUR PLAYERS NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO UNL WITHOUT THAT...

  10. I think an in house guy is the way to go. Nebraska is a very unique situation. We want to win, but we want to win a certain way. The only people who seem to understand the way are guys from the family. Callahan took almost every single one of our traditions lit them on fire them pissed on the ashes. Now he is paying the price for not listening to what TO told him was important to the program and how to be successful at NU when he first got here.

We gave an out of house guy a chance, we listened to all of the nay sayers and scratched a way of doing things that worked for 42 years. Look where it got us. We basically jumped off a bridge because everyone told us too. Now it is time to go back and start all over and do things the way we want them done and the only people that understand that are guys from the family.

To sum it up, we have been burned and we are a little weary to turn the keys over to the ferrari to someone we dont trust. The only people we can trust is our own.

WHY IS IT THAT THE PEOPLE WHO HOLD THIS OPINION CAN ONLY REMEMBER BACK TO 2004... WE STAYED IN HOUSE WITH FRANKIE SOLICH... UNDER OSBORNE'S WISHES... INSTEAD OF PURSUING A TALENTED COACH AT YOUNGSTOWN STATE BY THE NAME OF JIM TRESELL...

UNDER HIS "IN HOUSE" REGIME HE CHANGED THE FREAKING UNIFORMS, FAILED TO RECRUIT OUTSIDE OF THE STATE... AND LED US TO THE EDGE OF COLLAPSE... ALL THE WHILE, HIS PLAYERS COMPLAINED OF A LACK OF DISCPIPLINE, AND HE AND HIS ASSNTS WERE RUMORED TO HAVE SOME SHADY PERSONAL LIVES...

BOB DEVANEY WAS ORGINALLY FROM WYOMING... OUT OF HOUSE... WE GAVE HIM A CHANCE...

ITS NOT WHERE HE IS FROM.. ITS ABOUT THE MAN... AND THE WAY HE CHOOSES TO RUN HIS TEAM...

  11. My question is other then Bo which coaches would Nebraska target??? I mean Bo has some roots to Nebraska so he would be an obvious choice but which other coaches would Nebraska look to when interviewing???

Also if memory serves me correctly when Solich was let go and Pelini took over after that bowl win against Mich State a lot of people were interviewed for the HC position and a few people turned it down.. Will this job search be different????

TAKE A PEEK AT THIS COACHES HOT SEAT BLOG ON THIS MATTER FOR SOME OTHER IDEAS

  12. AND WHAT IS WITH ALL THE GARBAGE OF BRINGING IN THESE RELICS OF COACHING'S PAST... BARRY EFFIN SWITZER? COME ON! CATCH UP TO THE NEW MILLENIUM... YOU PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE AGAINST BRINGING IN MIKE DITKA OR HOW ABOUT THE GHOST OF BILL WALSH EITHER...

THE NEXT COACH OF NEBRASKA NEEDS TO BE A CURRENT COORDINATOR WITH EXPERIENCE FROM MULTIPLE, SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS... NOT UNLIKE BOB STOOPS IN '99... FRESH OFF A NATIONAL TITLE AT FLORIDA AND RESURRECTING KANSAS STATE'S D IN THE EARLY '90'S...

MY VOTE IS EITHER BO PELINI OR WILL MUSCHAMP

  13. Asked if he’d consider resigning, Callahan said: “No.”

I don't care if he is the worst coach in the world. He has a good recruiting class coming in, and any other response would just make him lose those recruits as well as probably having some kids on the team consider transferring. That is what would happen given the uncertainty.

I think he is, and should be here to stay throughout the season (at least he should be, if his boss thinks he should be fired, a different scenoario) for the kids he brought into this program. He HAS to stay committed to them up until the point he announces his resignation, if he does. He should then do it through proper channels (to the AD), so management can reassure the troops of what will happen next.

Do I think he is a good coach - no. I think he is an excellent recruiter and a good coordinator but not a good coach. Do I want him to say "Well, I'll consider resigning if this happens or that happens or if I don't like the new AD", HELL NO, not in a million years.

ANYONE NOTICE THAT CALLY WASNT WEARING ANY NEBRASKA LOGOS?
