  1. Per Rivals:

Jonas Gray - Is still 100% solid w/ the Huskers. He did say, although, that he will take a few more visits in the future for a back up..."in case of a Coaching change."

Will Compton - Yesterday he announced that he was taking a visit w/ Gabbert to the Mizzou vs. Texas Tech game. This morning he said the he WILL NOT take that visit and is still committed to the Huskers. He said that he plans to take a few visits in the future as a back up plan.

Sounds to me like these guys want to play in an NFL style offense. Which means that they committed because of the current coaches. What could this mean? If we lose our coaches, I see us losing maybe 5 or 6 recruits.

Note: I am NOT against losing our coaches in any way....I just want to win some ball games. GBR!

Looks as if we will lose some guys becuase Cally isnt going to finish the year......im guessing Gabbert, Gray, Compton, Rippy

  2. He needs to be benched.

No he does not. he is a sophomore and is the one that the staff has invested in. he is the guy for the next few years and he simply needs to get used to things. He was and is a fine athlete and has skills. But consider his position --- he is new, the defense is complicated, he is inexperienced in terms of knowing where he should be and he is in the middle of a shell-shocked defense that has been really, really, really toasted. the confidence and the shock of all that and the pressure to succeed (trying too hard) is a load for a 19 year old kid. he needs to simply play through it and, as he does, we should root him on o at every turn.

Put yourself into his cleats --- 80,000 fans screaming, you are 19 (or 20, whatever) and the blackshirt tradition is at stake --- your team is getting smoked and you just have to make that play.....

It is not an easy time for the NU kids --- especially those on defense, and especially those on defense who are new.

but they chose to play here....if they cant take the pressure then go play dII ball somewhere....as far as benching him, i would give thenarse a chance next week to see what he can do

  3. if people dont think stars are a big deal then just look at some of the recruiting classes of top ten teams right now and see that stars have alot to do with talent level.. look at ryan periloux for lsu also half of usc's team about and Mattew Stafford(georgia) 2006..this year CJ spiller (clemson)..demarco murray(oklahoma)..percy harvin is an athlete (5 star)...vidal hazelton..cj gable..ricky sapp..all those 5 stars and 1 4 star and look at that talent and say that stars dont prove somethin!!

dude what are you talking about?? ur just nameing people off, what he is saying is that there are just as many or more guys that are successful that didnt have the 4 and 5 stars.....i would also agree with him in a way, but i also think you need to go after a 5 star before a 3 star

  4. did Joe Ganz quite the team.....why is sullivan in if he didnt??

Joe was out there for a while. 1/1 19 yards. Mostly we have been running the ball at this point.

    - Matt

yea the game isnt on at the apartment its wake/BC so i am using gamecast on ESPN and it is really f'd up....it just said Joe ganz passed to Larry Asante is that true??

  5. i am from Minnesota....i was born here a week after we moved from Omaha....but my whole family still lives in Omaha and Lincon....My dad was going to be the starting QB in the 60's but broke he collarbone and quite the team...but i would say Minnesota is a big husker fan base...every game day every Joe Sensers (sports bar) in Minnesota has only the husker game on and they bring in a band to play during the game its awsome

    Teafatiller suspended one game

Husker head coach Bill Callahan says tight end Hunter Teafatiller is suspended for the Nevada game -- a one-game suspension.

The junior had a couple regrettable incidents this offseason: He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Aug. 4.

Prior to that, on May 26, Lincoln police ticketed him on suspicion of DUI, negligent driving, improper registration and MIP after an accident that caused $5,000 damage to his SUV. (He was 20 at the time.)

The suspension is the reason Teafatiller was not listed on Tuesday's depth chart. He caught four touchdowns last season.

Also, I got a few e-mails asking about Maurice Purify. He is back in Lincoln. He came back Monday, after leaving for California last Wednesday to attend his older brother's funeral.

    He's been practicing since Tuesday.

i honestly have never heard of this kid.... :wtf

  7. i posted a thread a week ago about who you thought we were going to red-shirt, but now that the first game is coming up does anyone know who we have or are going to red shirt?? and when does that need to be announced by??

It doesn't need to be announced at all. A decision doesn't have to be made. If they decide to play a guy, his redshirt is burned, up until that, it is intact.

so in a sense they are all redshirts right now, but if they step on the field its off?? interesting
