  1. Yea, I don't like how the east seats are basically the same height as the superficial fluff on top of the west stadium.

About the sound, when the athletic department polled alumni and fans about the sound system there was only like 2-3% of people that complained about it. I think it is terrible in the stadium but I guess the overwhelming majority of husker fans don't think so. Thus, nothing will happen with it.. which is a shame because it needs a major overhaul.

  2. BLEK!

I am moving to Iowa City in June for grad school (full ride at Iowa > full ride at UNL despite the abhorrent city).

Anyone know of any decent hawkeye forums? I imagine I will have to be somewhat fluent in that garbage team to make my way through the day.

Or are there any SKER fans in IC that want to have watch parties on Saturday's? I can't find anything in Planet Husker.

  3. we need to keep recruiting at a high level in Texas.......it would be foolish to abandon this state.
we need to keep recruiting at a high level in Texas.......it would be foolish to abandon this state.
this +1.never abandon texas or florida. they're just too rich in talent to ignore.
    Too rich in academic talent?
if it's the question between a team of players who average close to 4.0 but goes 2-10 and a team that averages 3.5 with a conference championship and a BCS bid, i'll take the later any day of the week and twice on a sunday.i suspect most would share in that opinion. and if you don't, it must be because you hate seeing nebraska playing during the holidays. and to say that you *can't* find a good student athlete who can excel in both academics and athletics is flat-out wrong-headed and sells these kids short.

Reading comprehension fail. How do you guys get student athletes out of an article that is entirely about academic students?

It appears some of our forum members are some of these highly talented academic students from Florida and Texas.

  4. It would be good to have two "Crouch-like" players on the roster next season!! If only they could be on the field together.

    why can't they?

I really want Tmart in the slot with Jamal Taking the snaps at center and Burkhead in the backfield. Enunwa and Kinnie wide and Kyler Reed at TE. We'll spread them with speed.

  5. If that's the case, does that swing the momentum in our favor as far as him choosing football over baseball?

One would think so, as I'd imagine an injury like that would have a pretty significant effect on his draft status. Obviously, not as significant as an arm injury, but it's probably enough to drop him a ways in the draft.

No it doesn't. He's a pitcher. It's not like it's an outfielder tearing their ACL.

  6. No one has even mentioned where any of this nonsense came from. Does anyone have ANY hard confirmation that there was ever an issue with Taylor at any point?

If so, I haven't seen it. It would be nice to have...what's that word I'm looking for...umm...oh yeah––FACTS before these kinds of nuclear meltdowns happen.

The article says he missed a mandatory meeting today. Which in turn led to the speculation that he had quit. I'm not big on rumours either. But often times, there is truth in this stuff and the rumours only blow that truth out of context.

My guess is there was-is something there and it's being dealt with.

How could he have missed the mandatory meeting? He wasn't supposed to be at it today. The meeting today at the hewitt was for all first year freshman student athletes. It was a zoo today. However, he is a second year freshman and therefore didn't have to be there.

  7. curious if he is starting to second guess Miami. This maybe Shannon's last season.

Not at all. He's a 3rd generation Legacy at Miami. There is no way anyone is going to steal him unless Miami ceases to have a football team. The kid grew up on cane football.

  8. Wonder if Arkansas still "leads"? :thumbs

Ciante Evans - only thing our staff has to say about developing CB's.

REALLY glad kid played like he did today... got really worried when I saw what happened to Dennard. Dennard's as, if not more, valuable to our D than Prince. More physical.

I didn't get to see the second half since I had to work :( but from what I could tell, Evans played very well. He didn't end up having any bonehead moves in the second half, did he? Anybody know how he did?

He lead the tackle on Gabbert on a 3 and 1 on our goal line when Gabbert took a draw and swept to the outside. The 4th and 1 was sent back due to an offensive false start-- Zou got the FG instead of the TD.

A few plays before this he almost intercepted the ball inside the endzone fell on top of the receiver and was taken out for 1 or two plays due to falling on his elbow. Kid is a baller.

Half of the team was slapping him on the sideline when he walked off after that series.

  9. Best is not the same as classiest.

We are the best fans because we are knowledgeable (although maybe no the most), have sold out continuously longer than anyone, and applaud the opposing team when they leave the field.

In no way do these three things imply we're classy. That's just your misinformed reading of the word. Also, us chanting overrated just shows how knowledgeable we are. You will never have the Bell back.

  10. The defense is just not elite this year. I think most of us figured that would mean, "Okay, we're going to be Top 15." I think we may not even be that. And not even about the rankings, but fundamentally there seems to be a huge drop-off this year with the loss of 4 key cogs on D. We'd do alright if we had all of those guys back, but reality is we don't.

Last year we counted on the D to win us games. This year, it looks like we will have to count on the O. And if the O doesn't deliver - then we could be stuck, because the D won't be there to make the critical stops when they need to.

That said, I hope the team will get revved up by the end of the year and pull out of this rut. We'll need it because you can hardly expect the O to deliver week in, week out yet against anybody.

The Defense won us the SDSU game... that's not saying much though.

  11. Wow. How many times has he taken the ACT? I feel like I've heard the same story about him scoring too low tons of times.

Maybe he just doesn't test well.

Some of you guys are just unreasonable about his situation.

If his grades are garbage and the NCAA uses a sliding scale, he may need a much higher score to qualify than a mere 18/19. He might need a 21 or the likes. Which seemingly this is a minor improvement, this is a big jump for kids who are stuck in the middle of the pack.

  12. Even though we beat Okie St this weekend, I get this feeling that the loss to UT, that vengenance still hasn't been exacted. We beat Okie St, but there wasn't a sense of closure, the "ok, we're getting some payback". I didn't notice it, until later, when the wife came home asked me if we'd won the game, and I said "yea". She looked at me and said, "you sure don't look like it".

It almost had the feeling of we were in a bit of a trap game, even though we'd lost the week before.

I may be in the minority in this, but I like where we're catching Mizzou. They'll be coming down after their big win, so we may be able to catch them.

That being said though, I am weary of their defense, which may be better than their offense. I think if we pound the rock, relentlessly, and I mean even some no huddle zone read stuff, we could wear them down. If their defense can be broken, then it could be a long afternoon for them.

As porous as our D's been past couple weeks, I think it's going to be time for them to step up. We also can't be only sending the front four. Thats what bothered me last week. We need to bring more guys, try to knock him on his ass on a consistant basis, and not give Gabbert the time he needs.

I think the key to the game is every husker fan showing up in black or gold to convince our players it's an away game. Also, a few purchases of sticky tack for the receivers would help.

  13. Green is pretty fast for his size. The kid has 4 inches on Martinez and 25 lbs. Green has poor vision at times and most of the time he is pushing the blocker in front of him instead of making the play.

Because of his size he ultimately has slower acceleration than martinez and less of an ability to cut. Although his top end speed is decent.
