  1. He needs to kick it into the stands. Its just another momentum builder to see USC have to watch the ball sail over their heads over and over again. It will be even nicer considering that we will have a former kicker on the USC sidelines.

  2. I agree 100% with you. NU has something to fight for and to prove, while USC doesnt. It reminds me of the NU vs. ASU game in 96. We went in clear favorites and defending two time national champs and we were over confident. We came into their house and met a buzz saw of a team and went down. I see the same type of set up for this game. You have USC that thinks they are the best team in the country and yet they havent won anything, showing us no respect at all. I am very excited about this game and what it can do for our program.

  3. I agree and hope others do as well. I always cheer on another big 12 north team, as long as it doesnt directly affect Nebraska. I was very disappointed that KSU didnt pull off the win agains Auburn but we will do every thing we can to beat USC.

  4. You might be right. Maybe USC is not as good as I think. But, I'll tell you this.... they should be. The crazy number of highly rated recruits they have on that team should make it such that they have no excuse not to beat anyone placed in front of them.

And USC does tend to, I think, underacheive. So, maybe they come in flat and not taking NU seriously. We can only hope.

I really think that USC is a top 5 team, but not the best team. I would take LSU or OU over them right now. You talk about their talent, which is tops in the nation, but look at Michigan. They always recruit well and have many 4yr starters returning this season and they are horrible. Talent isnt everything, you have to have a good staff and players that are willing to play smart and put it all on the line.

When I look at our team I see a whole group of players who have a lot to prove to people. Look at Keller, Purify, the O-line, Bowman, Octavien, Ruud, Grixby, and so on. They are all trying to prove something, maybe that they can play without injury, or that they are not to small or slow for a position. When you look at that it makes for a very dangerous team.

USC on the other hand thinks they are the best of all time and if a player doesnt get playing time he is leaving to go somewhere else. This game reminds me a little bit of the 96 game against ASU. We went in as clear favorites, playing at ASU, and should have easily handled them. Instead we went in expecting to win an easy game against a nobody team and got buzzsawed by an up and coming team with nothing to lose.

  5. I think that Grixby is one hell of a player. I know personally I could never play the way he does and I have 6" and 30lbs on him. I think that he has really stepped up this year and it helps to have more help from the safety position.

  6. I agree, Keller is doing better then Taylor did in his first few games. As I recall it took Taylor until game 10 to really figure things out. Keller shouldnt take as long, with having 1-A experience behind him.

Its just tough to go from Taylor at his best, two years into a system, and start over with another guy.

  7. I dont think that you can say that tearing down a goal post is a classless act. and if you think about it most of the people that would be try to take them down would be students. i really do not think that you would see to many people above the age of 30 out there anyway. and for those students what have they had to be happy or excited about.

when i was at the ASU game in Tempe when they beat the Huskers, those ASU students tore down the goalposts and carried them down University Ave and planted one of them at a local bar.

I dont think that anyone would think less of the Husker Fans if the student section rushed the field and tore them down. Now if there was a bunch of old f-ers like me making an ass out of ourselfs then maybe

The difference between us winning against USC and ASU beating us is that we have been there before. We played for a national title just 6 years ago, its not like we havent won anything for 30 years. I truely hope that they dont bring down the goal posts for USC. Personally I wouldnt want them to take them down even if it was the national title game. We have way to much tradition and have won way to much to act like that. Our players and fans need to act like they have been there before.
