Why do people point to the Spring game as the measuring stick?  It’s just one of 15 practices. I think Frost and staff will keep the competition open into the Fall, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see 2 or 3 different starting QBs in 2018 (if they all stick around, and don’t transfer).

The reasoning behind this is that the spring game will provide the only tangible evidence of what this offense and staffs plans are as far as QB’s are concerned.  Don’t get me wrong all the spring game is, is a glorified scrimmage with in hell of a crowd.  But it’s all we as fans have until that fateful day in fall.

  2. Oh my god someone start a Newcome vs Crouch thread cause I’d like this to get back on topic.  My pick is the QB that best performs in the spring game will start.  I’ll wait till I actually have something of value to compare.

    Several positives:

    1.  The "Second thought was they ate too much" (very funny, he's at home with his buddies)

    2.  The "I hope they have to adjust to us..." (man has some moxy)

    3.  "We aren't going to win every game......"   (This was the most comforting and honest answer he gave as far as I'm concerned.)

I'm glad he conceded to #3 out loud.

That stood out to me the most.  The fact that he said it and it seemed more directed at the fan base.  Asking us to be patient and to take pride in the team.  I liked that very much.

No we don't..? We have to have a better conference record than them just one time (and everyone else), or the same conference record but beat them one time, and we are sniffing the CCG.

True, I would love sooner but I'm not getting my hopes too high till I see the product on the field. With Frosts track record I will most likely be wrong but I just want stability and consistency.  I wanna see him succeed with multiple recruiting classes.

  5. I voted 4+ because of Wisconsin.  They are more established than us and we have to focus on beating them consistently before we can even sniff the CCG.  The road will 90% of the time lead to beating Wisc to get to the CCG.  Now if Frost can do it sooner great but year 4 and on will tell me if we have staying power.  I'm looking for competitive consistency.

  6. On a different topic but same lines I keep running through my head how did the football team get here?  I keep coming back to Harvey Perlman's influence on how the university approached the football program.  He was there for a lot/majority of the decisions that have plagued the football program over the years.  Am I the only one thinking this or is there more too this?

  7. In all seriousness this is a full rebuild with a complete culture shift in the entire program.  The S&C program needs an overhaul.  The psyche of the players needs an old school basic training tear down and build up.  Along with the right coaches to bring it all together.  The fan base also has to be patient with this staff.  I'm gonna give the next staff 5 years only to be competitive.

  8. I live up here in Cougar territory and it's a mixed bag of feelings up here about that one.  On paper he seems like a semi decent higher but the WSU fan base up here is wishy washy as hell.  They expect there teams to fail so when they manage to have a good season the band wagon fans come out of the wood work.  Only time will tell but I will say he will have his aggenda and he will spend the money so that's a positive in the right direction.  I don't think it will equate to a Frosty hire but who's to say.  I really hope this works out for DONU cause we need stability for a long period of time.

It starts from the top. Get a solid AD in there that knows what he's doing. This program is too important to a lot of people for it to be what it is today. This is not the Nebraska football we know and love. It hasn't been the same since Solich was forced out. We've paid the price for firing him, and things have to change and I believe change is coming.

Im willing to bet that the price we pay will be the sellout for that mistake and that's what I am really afraid of.

  10. This brings up the whole "Coach hiring and firing season" debate.  Nov is usually the time you start to see the firings and Dec is the hirings.  Now there is nothing that keeps a silent agreement to be reached between two parties.  Wonder if UCF would be interested in a home and away series with Nebraska to be used as bait to let us talk and negotiate with Frost.

  11. I would love to see a poll of what others thing are there too 25. I'd say a list of the AP's top 40 to start the list. I'm willing to bet that everyone has trouble with the 11-25 range. Personally NU is on the outside looking in as Id have Wisc and Iowa above us.

  12. There is more to this issue then just the abusers. I used to "bounce" in a bar in Colorado Springs. We always had the football players from CU there as well as the athletes from the Olympic Training facility. They would bring their "posse" with them, which always included the new girl. Too much booze and then a fight always broke out with the girl getting the worst of it. Usually because the "stud" found another new gir. However, every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, we would get the guy to through him out of the bar, the girl would come after us. Didn't matter that we just saved her from a beat down or worse. Doesn't justify what the athlete did, but something is wrong with the girl as well.

Just like the LP deal, what was she thinking by hooking up with Frost? Again, didn't deserve what happened, based on what one of the other players said, but they all knew not to mess with LP. Doesn't make since to me. It wasn't "true love" or anything like that, she was manipulating him. She wanted to make him mad.

True that, a lot of times the victim isn't necessarily a victim but just a dumb college student wondering around aimlessly looking for food. Oh and don't forget all of this falls back to the original problems.....PARENTS or lack there of.

  13. Got to watch it the other night. Very well done. Makes it easy to sympathize with LP for his terrible childhood and his inability to deal with his temper. Also makes it easy to loathe him for the choices he made.

Am I the only one who hated that bitch attorney?

If your talking that prosecutor I had that same vibe listening to her but then I realized that's the way she has to be hard wired to win cases. The prosecution job it to put these guys away for as long as possible not to do what they might feel is right or wrong that's the juries job.

  14. Did anyone else notice that when TO talked about not going the easy road with him, and make you think about how our public institutions are handling these kind of incidents now a days. Most recent example is Oklahoma and Mixon. Everyone wants that house burned to the ground and even Stoops said that if that happened not even a year later that he would have been booted and turned loose back on society. Yet no one even asked the why and how do we fix this with this kid? It's so easy to do the easy thing, so maybe when someone does the hard thing we should take the time and maybe even applaud it as long as it's the right thing to do. I applaud TO for the stand he made and wish all those hurt can get the help they need in life. RIP #1
