  1. Hey guys this is what a majority thought before the season and now that the regular season is over we should all take a walk down memory lane. I would like to thank the seniors for what they have given the program over the last 4-5 years. For those coming back and inbound aim higher!

  2. Let's start this off right.

What bowl do you want and /or expect us in?

Who do you want to see in the XXX Bowl?

    What's your projected score?

And last but not least what was your greatest high and your lowest low of this season?

  3. Just heard on BTN LIve that a Board of Regent quoted to the Lincoln journal star that MRI should be removed from the team and pretty much denied his first amendment right because it could be disparaging to the university. Maybe I heard wrong but if anyone sees the article please post it cause I'm very interested to see what idiot wants to jump down this rabbit hole.

Nvm found it up above....Hal your just asking to be removed from the board. I'm real interested in the contracts these kids sign for scholarships. I wonder if it includes a clause like the military's that you are not allowed to use your position or affiliation for protesting. You are allowed to protest as a civilian and you state that your views are not that of the military or those appointed over me.

  4. I, and many of my friends, spent a few years toting guns around the desert in the early 1990s so Mr. Rose-Ivey and others (including YOU) could continue to say your piece and express your views. I did not like being there and still wonder whether it was helpful in any way. But a whole bunch of Kuwaitis were awful glad we showed up.

This country was founded on and built for dissent. The flag is a piece of cloth, the song is a ripoff of much older music but with patriotic American lyrics. There is nothing sacred about anything involved except the blood spilled and lives given by those who fought to make sure we all have the right to protest any damn thing we want. I don't care if it's the taste of the water, the treatment of our fellow people, or the color of the sky. Good men and women died so these people could make their political point.

You may or may not agree. You also have the right to protest THEIR protest in your own way. But do not call them un-American. There IS nothing more American than trying to make your voice heard. Boston Tea Party anyone? Kent State?

Because you do not see or agree with their cause does not make it any less important to them. And I would hope we can all agree on that, at least.

See this for the origins of our hallowed anthem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Anacreon_in_Heaven#The_earlier_version_of_the_lyrics

+1 Protesting is a double edged sword. I'm interested in the staying power of this cause we all know how fickle the public is I.E. Occupy Wallstreet

  5. Boy if the other two parties wouldn't have paid off the pollsters Gary Johnson would have destroyed those two tonight. I wouldn't even call that a debate. Too often the moderator failed to gain control of the conversation to stick to the issues being discussed and let the two go off on mindless rants that had no real bearing on the original topic. I would give Hillary the edge after Trump did what Trump does. The first half was good for Trump then it pretty much went down hill.

  6.

The protester if you felt the need to draw attention to yourself and are not willing to accept the critism that is due to come both the horrendous and the supportive and then maybe you shouldn't be on social media. I ain't saying the horrendous is acceptable but during any protest that is what will come out and justify your cause all that much more.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I want to clarify that none of the players are shrinking from the backlash they're receiving. They're putting their names on their stance and facing the backlash head-on, much to their credit.
Sorry didn't mean that our guys where shrinking from it but I've seen a lot of media related topics of other shrinking after they received push back. Just a soft skinned trend I have noticed with this newer generation of activists.

  7. Who are you claiming has thin skin in this scenario? That isn't exactly clear from your post.

I want to thank you for your service, genuinely. But I'm not sure what you mean by:

I am military and I can identify with both sides because per my oath of enlistment I will support and defend the constitution of the United States. Not the flag, not the national anthem but the freaking constitution. I respect people more for those that have served and protested injustice than those that have never learned what it's like to die and defend those rights.

Their first amendment right is the right to free speech. You have protected against the infringement of that right with your oath. Can you explain what you mean by "Not the flag, not the national anthem, but the freaking constitution" ?

Sorry if I wasn't completely clear. By the thick skin I was meaning on both sides. The protester if you felt the need to draw attention to yourself and are not willing to accept the critism that is due to come both the horrendous and the supportive and then maybe you shouldn't be on social media. I ain't saying the horrendous is acceptable but during any protest that is what will come out and justify your cause all that much more.

On the flip side the offended. To stoop to that such of a level to protest the protester in a non peaceful manner just reinforces the original protesters ideals and beliefs. We live in a world that is as diverse in beliefs as we are in conflict will always arise no matter what we do.

As for the comment about the flag and anthem. Those are just symbols that Americans use as rallying points. But the consitution is what binds us as Americans. That document is our rights it is our laws and its living. We can add and take away from it if true injustices are being performed.

  8. So read this today http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/17644850/nebraska-cornhuskers-lb-michael-rose-ivey-receives-racial-backlash-anthem-protest

I know that everyone has the right to freedom of speech and right to peaceful protest. So why then are what is becoming more common place during athletic events is people performing peaceful protests to "insert topic" being lamb blasted by what I presume to be a loud minority. I am military and I can identify with both sides because per my oath of enlistment I will support and defend the constitution of the United States. Not the flag, not the national anthem but the freaking constitution. I respect people more for those that have served and protested injustice than those that have never learned what it's like to die and defend those rights.

My other qualm with this issue is when you make the conscious choice to protest on a public stage then you will expect backlash. All be it some backlash is more extreme than others but with today's social media kids and the media are getting more and more butt hurt about people responses to there life choices. I believe if you have a problem with being blasted on social media then your skin isn't thick enough to be protesting on a public stage.

    Just my 2 cents

  9. Riley isn't going anywhere this year and will be back next year...

Eichorst isnt going anywhere this year...

I will continue to watch nebraska football as win, lose or draw I am a Nebraskan!

I have accepted this season is a wash and will watch and speculate like everyone else as what will change for next year. This is not apathy it is called being a fan. I am normally a pessimist so I will continue to critique and objectify the team I love so much. I hope you will all do the same as our children will be a reflection of us.

  10. Answer the following honestly: Would you view a .600 annual season record were your only loses of the season by less than 7 points each game a success or a failure?

Now would you view a .750 annual season record with your loses being blowouts on a consistent basis a success or failure?

This is the conundrum that this program is at. I don't pretend to know the future but having experience coaching I am willing to give Reily his contract to work towards improving. There is deep underlying issues with this program that will take more than 1 season to cure. I'll watch to see if we can get constant progress this year as the expectations have been lowered by the early losses. The product on the field is what I'll evaluate at seasons end. As always GBR!

  11. The OP it's a combination of everything. We wanted a fresh start and this is what can happen not every coaching change is smooth. The game planning is on the coaches. The dropped passes are on the players and the penalties are on all. This coaching staff would seem to have been better off coming into a program with lower expectations but they took this job knowing full well the fan base and football environment is extremely critical.

I personally think this is a 6 loss team with a minor bowl win to end the season. This season is all about working on progression. We have Armstrong as the QB next year just progress as the season goes on.

  12.

    OR MAYBE THIS 'REMIX'

I would actually prefer The XX- Intro version of Ecstacy of Gold. The composition of the song can easly have voice added and it is fast paced for action.

P.S. Do a voting poll and we can see who the finalist are, I'd know I would be interested. There would have to be a few ground rules like catering to the crowd yet updated to todays youth as a stand out. Im not saying rap is out of the question but there are quite a few songs out there that would not represent Nebraska Football in a good way. Keep it Classy Husker Fans!

  13. I just hope he is a good recruiter. Aside from that, he'll just be a yes man for Bo just like the rest of the staff.

I don't think any graduates of the service academies would appreciate you call them a 'yes man.'

You would be surprised how many real world officers are Yes Men! Especially in the Air Force, there is a reason RHIP exists "Rank Has It's Privildges". The services are no different than any major corporation. More cronies than free thinkers.

  14. I am sure the media will be talking how a one loss SEC team should jump OSU.

That right there is why the media will say the reason OSU will lose votes. True if they finish undefeated it's not really a back door but the media will sure make us feel like they did.
