  1. More like the alarm has been reduced from flaring red to yellowish orange.

I'm thrilled about the win. The defense looks like it's improving. We're also in one of the worst football conferences and the opponent we beat last night was without its starting quarterback. We're also not out of the woods. We've got four games left, with opponents in Michigan State and Penn State that are good enough to squeak a win over a team that (still) ritualistically self-destructs with turnovers and penalties). Nothing short of a conference championship will move me from the camp of skepticism. We've been here before. There's still plenty of time for another meltdown. There are also some encouraging signs.

It's an interesting sort of selective memory when you beat a mediocre team without the player that accounts for the majority of their offense, it somehow nullifies that one time you got 63 hung on you. I guess we'll just sort of forget about that national embarrassment. In other words, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The team did what it was supposed to last night. The offense was average--and the play calling/use of substitutions (see milk carton running backs) was suspect at times--but the defense stepped it up and we got a convincing win. That's great. Now do it four more times and beat the team you already beat and you've let out plenty of leash for this staff. Implode again--and there's no reason to think it can't happen--and we're right back where we started.

    Bitch, whine, moan......blah, blah, blah.

    :cry

  2. Forget winning the division. There's no logical reason to think it will happen. Forget the title. That won't happen either. What did happen (or is happening, I should say), is Nebraska has been completely exposed. Every minor fault and crack many decided to ignore in favor of fantasies of a psychologically matured, disciplined football team split into canyons. We have massive systemic issues within the program and no amount of excuse-peddling or sunshine-pumping is going to alter that fact. It will continue to prove itself over. . .and over. . .and over. . .until the issue is addressed. It's Groundhog Day at Nebraska as long as self-delusion is the modus operandi.

+1. It's time for the sunshine-pumpers to get their heads out of their asses and face reality. We are going nowhere fast.

    Lol!!

    Are you eight years old?

  3. Wow, ease up on the ripping there. Jamal's a talented kid and a good team player. I don't really get the anger here.

Well gee, maybe because there is no anger.

I just don't see why he's a superstar that "should" have been playing every snap (that been in endless posts the last year).

  4. I learned that I just can't figure out how the internet genius crowd rates JT as J. Rodgers x10. It seems I'm always seeing him...

    1. Running the wrong route

    2. dropping easy TD passes

    3. Getting horribly annihilated when ever attempting to block anybody

    4. Not even seeing easy TD passes thrown right between his eyeballs in the end-zone

But yet every week for the last year there's 10,000 posts on how stupid Bo is for not benching Marlowe, Tmart or whoever so he plays every single snap. "He's in Bo's doghouse!!!"

I guess it's just over my head.

  5. So except for the handful of deranged FIRE BO NOW! partisans, most of us seem in agreement that Bo's seat is definitely warm, he will by all accounts be given a sixth season in which we would really like to see some improvement.

    Shut down HuskerBoard.com now?

I don't consider myself to be deranged. Some of us just think it's better to cut our losses now than toil in mediocrity for another 2 or 3 years and then hit the reset button. Why delay the inevitable?

Nebraska is currently outside of the Top 25, where it does not belong. Recruiting is stagnant. Top players have been jumping ship after they get here. 8 games in and the team is still making tons of mistakes and lacks discipline. What's to like?

A come from behind victory against a mediocre middle of the pack team from a mediocre middle of the pack conference is not to like. Don't mean to come across as harsh, but this program has been trending downward for over a decade now.

Yes, because our Pedeyshine was (amazingly) stupid enough to listen to the haters.

  6. Prediction? Husker Board melt down.

Various people accuse others of being "Pelini haters."

Go Big Red. Go get the win Pelini and co.

Man, +1 to this. Strong agree. There's been so much penis measuring on this forum lately.

To the point of Bo finding a way to stop mobile quarterbacks though. I'd say he did that against the lolcats. Colter might not be Braxton or Dennard, but he's just a half step behind them...he's extremely elusive. We made him look like hammered dog sh!t yesterday in my opinion.

Keep Santos on the field. Blitz a little more than we have. Use Stafford and Cooper to cheat up to stop the run. We win.

Yep. And keep Caveman unleashed. There's hope!

  7. It's a restaurant in London, what about it? I don't see how it relates to Nebraska football or that Bo isn't going anywhere.

Basically saying BO is better than Callahan is the same thing. So what, Callahan sucked and BOs not lighting it up either. That's what's called being king of the pigs.

If you can't notice the MASSIVE difference in results between those two.....well.......

  8. I learned.....

Bye weeks apparently do not help

Neb prefers to love having a - turnover margin

Beck forgets he has Cross and Marrow for 3rd and Short

Jamal Turner still does not get the ball enough

Talor runs like a girl until he sees an opening

And my biggest gripe is special teams, the fumbles suck of course, but this unit needs some serious work...

Other than that very happy they pulled it off, if anything this brings some momentum back home, still think this team is pretty awesome IF they can put it together for 4 qtrs.

This is starting to really aggrevate me. Why in the hell are we trying to slam a 185lb Abdullah into the line on 3rd and 2, and then a while later have Cross next to Martinez in the shotgun? I dont get it.

Or why we're hardly even using Tmart for the zone-read or misdirection plays? I don't get that either.

  9. A better comparison would be Devaney vs Snyder since both inherited bottom feeder programs at the time. In that case, I'd go with Devaney because of these key stats:

-- NU only had 4 winning seasons in 21 years before Devaney's arrival.

    -- Bill Jennings (Devaney's predecessor) was HC @ NU for 5 years with these records = 1-9, 3-7, 4-6, 4-6, 3-6-1

    -- Devaney's first 5 years @ NU looked like this = 9-2, 10-1, 9-2, 10-1, 9-2

-- In Devaney's 4th year, he had NU in national title contention when they lost to Bama in the Orange Bowl and finished 10-1

    -- 2x back-to-back national champions

    Snyder's first 5 years @ KSU = 1-10, 5-6, 7-4, 5-6, 9-2-1

However, this doesn't undermine what Snyder has accomplished and I actually admire him as a coach. It's also cool to see one of Osborne's peers having success in today's college football climate.

But to answer your question, yes, I think Osborne could've turned it around had he pulled a Snyder.

    Damn fine post.

TO was great but Devaney was greater imo. Snyder is a great, great coach also especially with little KSU to work with. It's a tough call.....

  10. And if you want to know why I didn't "add" anything to the thread, it's because there is nothing to add to it that hasn't already been said a million times. People already laughed in our faces when we got rid of Solich like we did. Nebraska is not the super job many Husker fans think it is. If they fire Pelini now, or at the end of the season, it sets the program back even further. We'll get no decent coaching interested in the job and no players interested in gambling on a progam that goes through coaches like they're trying out different types of candy.

    Bingo!

The same terminal brain-dead crowd cheered firing Frank/Bo for "only" going 10 - 3 to bring in an NFL genius HC. A "Super Bowl" coach!

Oh boy......this time there won't be a TO to bail us out if they get their way again.

  11. After squeaking by an unranked Northwestern, I find it hilarious that people think this game will be close. I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan gets hyped for this game, especially if it's at night. I just hope we don't get raped like last year. I don't know how many more of these I can watch before I throw in the towel.

After Ohio State squeaking by an unranked Purdue, I find it hilarious that people think Urban is a good HC.

  12. I think people are overlooking one big thing about this Michigan team - they have a great defense (10th nationally, I believe). Not only will our D make Robinson look really good (alah 2011), but their D will make our O look really bad (again, alah 2011). Hope I'm wrong, but that's the realist in me.

No, that's just the Debbie Downer in you.

  13. You don't get that we were clearly the more talented team, but got outcoached?

You don't get that we should've won that game by 3 or 4 touchdowns?

You don't get that we are one of the most undisciplined college football teams in the country?

You don't get that our coaching staff is inadequate?

You don't get that we are lucky as Hell to win a game we had no business winning?

You don't get our program is worth way more than what we saw today?

You don't get that this coach continues to fail each season when it comes to winning something of substance?

What more do you need to get?

S**t happens. You don't play your best every single week. Sure, being disappointed is fine, but the nuclear meltdown on this board is wholly uncalled for

    Exactly.

Urban's Buckeyes just beat Purdue by the skin of their teeth so obviously he needs to get canned too.

  14. Already knew, but reinforced:

    - This team suffers from chronic penalties and turnovers

    - Bo Pelini's sideline demeanor makes him look rediculous

    Learned:

    - Not to give up on the old 'skers so quickly

    - Taylor Martinez (who occasionally likes to prove me wrong on this) is a pretty good CFB player, and has improved immensely since arriving at Nebraska

    - Some fans act as if beating Northwestern = Winning the Rose Bowl

    ?????

I very seriously doubt that there's even "one" fan who thinks we just beat a great team. Not one. But what is your problem with being happy with winning a tough game on the road? Are we supposed to sob, whine & bitch because we didn't blow them out?

NW at 6 - 1 wasn't a bad team. We played at their house, fumbled two punt returns and yet almost doubled their total yards. We get a close win. What's wrong with that?

  15. You don't get that we were clearly the more talented team, but got outcoached?

You don't get that we should've won that game by 3 or 4 touchdowns?

What more do you need to get?

You don't get the fact that your life depends on the lives of 18-22 year olds and that other than one play on defense and two special teams fumbles this game wasn't that close. Keep on hatin

You're right I'm the only Husker fan that really cares, and 1 point game isn't close? You're right a .5 point game would've been better. Enjoy your delusion that our program is just fine.

Enjoy your delusion that you have any idea what you're talking about.

  16. I think we have the best receiving crew that we have ever hard. Enunwa, Bell and Turner are flat out fantastic.

So many people told me I was crazy when I said that before the season. I stand by it and it is proving to be true. Taylor did have a decent game but can be better. On the negative side, if Northwestern defenders could catch, Taylor would have thrown four picks.......just sayin.

    Blah, blah, blah......just STFU.

How many passes did our defense drop? How many punt returns did we drop? How many passes did our wrs drop? But go ahead & just pin it all on our qb.....as long as it makes you feel like a big stud.

  17. 1. T-Mart has outplayed Beck's terrible play calling yet again.

    2. Bo needs to learn to coach on the sideline, instead of just screaming at refs and players.

    3. Our secondary is finally finding their identity. PHYSICAL ASS FOOTBALL

    4. This team lacks discipline in almost every aspect of the game, but mostly from our coaching staff.

    5. Burkhead is most likely our for the rest of the year, sad to lose him but thank god for our depth.

    6. Beck went to the designed QB draw 7-8 times and it netted maybe 20 yards total, yet we didn't one run quick pass or screen the entire game. I would love an in depth reason as to why he decided to do this.

It is bizarre that he doesn't use Tmart's explosive speed more. Sooner or later he'll figure out we're not Kansas.
