Omaha, NE - University of Nebraska Regent Randy Ferlic thinks Husker fans need to back off the calls for changes in the Husker athletic department. Since Saturday's 45-14 loss to Oklahoma State, fans are demanding change. Ferlic calls it a "lynch mob mentality", and says it's a knee-jerk reaction that isn't fair to the students. "We may not win any more football games here on out in the season, but to do something tomorrow or next week in my mind would be precipitous," says Ferlic.
Ferlic tells Action 3 News, "I think the fact that the fans walked out at half-time shows a certain amount of disrespect for all those students playing for our team."
He says if Athletic Director Steve Peterson, Chancellor Harvey Perlman or Coach Bill Callahan decided to make staff changes, he's accept the changes if they came with a good explanation.
