  1. The arguement about playing the Fall is what gets me. Certain people believe that having games in the fall will compliment the football games. I just dont buy it. At several schools in the conference, I don't see people heading over in droves to watch a college baseball game in the fall. Imagine a college baseball game at 2:30 in Lincoln with a home football game in primetime a 7. With traffic, parking, and tailgating concerns......who is realisticly going to want to stride over to Haymarket to watch the game? It would be even more of a ghost town if there was an away game at the same time!

  2. Honestly, most students when selling their tickets don't sell them for outrageous prices that some of the other seats have attached to them.

We most know didn't people. Everytime I was trying to find an extra tix for someone, they wanted some $$$ (generally double face-value). There was a few times, I found tix off of art or music students for cheap money.

The Mildcats down south, have gone to E-Tix....where you print out the tickets (exactly what the University does here if you buy single game tix online or over the phone). This would still allow for tix to be sold.

  3. Still would like to know what the Purdue coach said...

But I saw this visual representation of crowd size relative to Big 10 standings in baseball (via the OWH), and the disparity is alarming...though I do seem to recall that Purdue is making a big investment in their Baseball program and were trying to bring their new 5000+ seat stadium online this year in time to host a regional...

It was in regards to having a seperate league and playing games in the fall. Mainly, giving up on baseball as a conference and accepting that the B1G is a second-rate conference.

  4. Are they doing renovations to the OSU park? There appears to be a lot of what looks like construction equipment along the outside of the fence and in the parking lot.

On a side note.....the field itself at Hawks was in EXCELLENT condition when I was there last Friday. The mild winter did help in that department.

  5. Didn't know that, PC. Thanks for the info. I can certainly understand looking for the best deals. Probably also why no names on the back. Probably comes as part of the deal for bigger schools, and becomes a budgetary thing at a place like Creighton.

Also you have to understand at all schools, the primary sponser(addidas of course for NU) only provides so much stuff as part of their deal, and the school pays for a lot of things from them. Baseball has more players, so that is uni's, batting gloves, etc, for more athletes than the 12-14 guys on a basketball team.

Both true......the track and field team (any program outside of VB, BBall, and FB really) gets only so much clothes and shoes, but alot of it is "bought" at a very signifacant markdown, taken out of the budget. But, I had been told that Adidas is alot better at supporting the non-revenue sports than Nike.

General Statment (not directed at anyone-just a general rant):

And please don't try and tell me that just because your NAIA school/High School etc wore Nike unifroms that Nike is "sponsoring" you in any way shape or form.

  6. watching the Wiscy-Cuse game.....

it never ceases to amaze me----you have kids who have played 100+ games/year growing up between school/summer/fall ball, yet when the game is on the line, with ample time on the clock, the best shot they can get off is a fade-away 3 pointer between two defenders as time expires. I watch it happen time and time again!

  7. Pham says the timing is bad because U.S. troops already on the ground and diplomatic efforts underway would work best "in the shadows."

The Obama administration sent 100 special operations troops in October to work with Ugandan forces to root out Kony and his band of fighters. Another group of U.S. forces is working with the Congo and other neighboring countries to catch Kony.
