  1. I want to say something about all these "Bo Pelini spotted at Duncan Aviation" stories. I work on the line at Duncan Aviation which means I am one of the 18 people who do the parking, fueling, and movement of private aircraft 24/7/365. We see every person who steps off the plane....

Mr. FightingPolish (well, it seems like a male name - you're a guy??)

Although I'm relatively new here, much like yourself, I am proud to bestow upon you the EXTREMELY rare and MOST coveted title of

Chief Head Coaching Search Spymaster Over All Private Aviation Facilities in the Immediate Lincoln, Nebraska Area for HuskerBoard.com

Your Official Duties are to commence IMMEDIATELY and consist of the following:

ANY possible person that could have anything to do with any kind of NCAA men's athletics endeavor seen at aviation facilities within your area of responsibility is to be reported IMMEDIATELY to Huskerboard.com

Failure to meet the duties described above will result in permanent elimination of your title.

    Congratulations on your new position!

NOTE: This posting has not been sanctioned by HuskerBoard.com, and in no way should be construed as anything but a bunch of B.S. perpetrated by a zealous Cornhusker fan (that's me). But it would be cool if FightingPolish would actually do this and in a couple of weeks post up some PHOTOS of coaching candidates on this website...

  2. I seem to be in the minority, but I dont think Johnson is the guy. I dont care where in 1-A you coach, you should never, ever lose to a 1-AA, which he did this year vs Delaware. With a head coach, you want a guy who will always win the games he's supposed to win, a loss like that makes me wonder about his motivational abilities.

You are not alone on this guy. He is a good coach but he should not be the next coach at NU.

I can't believe all the people chubbing over this dude he is an outsider that knows NOTHING about NU tradition. <_<

Do a little more homework beyond the Win Loss posting in your other thread....And look at my post, right above your post - about what kind of players Paul Johnson has...

Another little tidbit of info - during an interview with Johnson's brother, it came out that when Paul Johnson was kid growing up in NC, instead of going fishing with his buddies, he watched college football to, and this is a quote, "study the plays that Clemson and Nebraska" were running....this would have been probably been in the 1970s

I think Paul Johnson knows more about Nebraska than anyone on the current coaching staff, and they've been AT Nebraska for 4 years...

  3. :w00t:corndance

Thumbs up, dude - all by yourself, albeit indirectly, you figured out the WHOLE point to this website....

Yes, you guessed it!!! It's a place where Cornhusker fans voice their OPINIONS about things!!!

    :w00t

And there's more!!! When 1 Cornhusker fan expresses an opinion, another Cornhusker fan can counter with a different opinion, sometimes even providing colorful commentary as to why this second opinion is better than the first!!

If all Cornhusker fans everywhere were to take your advice, NOBODY would EVER post ANYTHING on this website - we'd either be "getting over ourselves" somewhere, or we'd be coaching football...

That's all I have to say about that.

    :rant

  4. I think a lot of people are missing the point here...

NAVY football players study ENGINEERING and things like that.

NAVY GRADUATES spend several years on a boat wearing a uniform - they don't go to the NFL...

The fact that Paul Johnson is WINNING with ENGINEERS who basically are playing simply for the love of the game is a true testament to Paul Johnson's coaching ability.

In a matchup with Notre Dame, who has the better athletes?

Heck, what about Delaware?? I'd be willing to bet that Delaware has better athletes, but the Navy guys could run circles around the Delaware guys in Calculus class...

Look at the Ball State game - it was close, and look what Nebraska did against Ball State this year...

So I don't care much who he's lost to...the guy can coach! He's taking STUDENTS and winning football games. Find me a starter on ANY top 25 team that can even RECOGNIZE the word "calculus"...

  5.

He probably heard only the ones that were yelling "Hooray, only 1 more game with Bill as coach!"

In any event, I tend to believe that the players took this game on themselves to win, so Cally let them celebrate by themselves...or he has the same attitude as his agent and couldn't give a $hit what Husker fans think....after all, this high-tech, modern football and the after-game celebration is way too technical for us to understand...

Do you really think the players just ignored their coach and played themselves with out any coaching? Can you please give the HC a little credit in getting his team prepared today? I mean I bet he worked all week and they prepared well and it showed but you still decide to not give even a shred of credit to the guy when MAYBE he had a little to do with the win since he is the head coach. I know he has screwed up a lot of times and you are quick to blame it on him then, but when things went well, you still don't give him any credit.

Yeah, sure, I believe that they just ignored their coach... :sarcasm

Give him credit for preparing the team?? No, don't think so - I'll give that credit to Joe Ganz and Senior Day - the coaches didn't get the team "up" for this game, the players got themselves "up" for it...

And you said "I mean I bet he worked all week..." yeah....I'm sure he did, Dan, I'm sure he did...

I'll give Billy the only credit that I ever have, and that is this: when the WCO is "on" it does amazing things...like 700+ yards and 70+ points.

But I'll take away from Billy just like I have from the beginning - the WCO is WAY too reliant on "superstars" who of course are NOT in it for good old NU, but rather for their NFL shot, and since they're "superstars" they're subject to their same moody fits of where they perform when and how they want, not just because it's game day...

Joey Ganz is a Cornhusker...Bo Ruud is a Cornhusker...those two on the field for game day had more to do with it than anything Billy did...

But see, here's the thing - all that stuff I just said is MY OPINION. That's all I have to say about that.

  6. And Billy C didn't even respond or show any emotion to the NU fans when they were congratulating them on their win......

  7. Here's the difference in passing today, taken from the "official" play-by-play....

    Comlpetions 0-9 yards = 6

Completions 10-19 yards = 12 (acutally 13, but penalty negated one for 17 yards)

    Completions 20-29 yards = 8

    Completions 30-39 yards = 4

24 of 30 for more than 10 yards...

Joe Ganz is absolutely NOT afraid to let a receiver go get a ball!!!

  8. Wish I could read lips, though - at the end of the game Businessman Bill was chatting it up with someone and I'm almost certain he was bashing the fans. My impression of what he was saying was something like this:

"Oh, those doggone Husker fans - they're only happy when we win - they can't support us when we lose, only when we win."

    :wtf

I do not know what he was saying, but the look on his face made it seem like he wasn't happy about something...mind you, this was right near the end of the game...he wasn't wearing a headset and the TV didn't show the person he was talking with.

And to you that means he was bashing Husker fans?

Mrs. Callahan, thanks for the post...

    :wtf

Maybe what I said was a bit of humor....or maybe disgusted sarcasm....

This might help you figure out why I posted that - I'll make it bold so you can see it better - I do not like Bill Callahan, and Bill Callahan does not like Husker fans. When Bill Callahan talks, he talks DOWN to Husker fans, because, after all, this fancy football stuff is WAY too technical for us, so I made something up that seemed to match what MY IMPRESSION of what his tiny little brain might cause him to say when he speaks, ie. bash Husker fans...

    :laughpound

    Nice post, sport.

er...um...yeah...sorry about the "Mrs. Callahan" thing....umm....

    GO BIG RED!!!! :cheers

  9. The Independence Bowl reps were here today. If we get to six wins, we'll go to Shreveport. Yippee.

Could play Miss. State or maybe Arkansas?

Maybe Appalachian State? (I probably spelled that wrong...)

  12. Joey Ganz is a true Cornhusker - nothing else. He went out and played for today, played for his team, played for his University, and played for state pride.

I believe that his leadership was KEY for what happened today - he got the team focused on the task and hand and everyone played their hearts out for him.

  13. Truly an awesome sight to see - full stadium of screaming fans, TONS of false starts for the other guys, and OVER 700 yards of offense...

What was truly exciting was to see Husker linebackers in on some plays!! Sure, they had some major, massive busts (close the back door, guys) but they were in on some plays!!

The players looked like they wanted to be there - they were running through tackles like they haven't been all season. What a pumped up team today!

Of course, even after almost 4 years, he isn't familiar with the traditions of Nebraska, so he doesn't quite realize that when you have the worst defense in Nebraska history, the 2 worst point totals in Nebraska history, etc. etc. that the fans are going to get restless...

  14. I love the rumor mill!! The absolute best part is when media hacks use it as NEWS *cough* and go nuts, and report that Steve Spurrier is in Lincoln...or that Marth Stewart is coming out with a new line of jail uniforms - Paris Hilton and Lawrence Phillips are slated to be signing on as models...

There should be an IQ test for journalists, as well as a comprehensive examination on CHECKING SOURCES.

In here, though, ANYTHING goes. No, Lawrence Phillips isn't really signing on...

EDIT - FrustratedFan, your sig is f'in HILLARIOUS!!
