  1. I can not believe the lack of topics on Husker hoops. I know Big 12 play has not started, but I sure hope people get behind Doc and his program. Its a long time until football season, and the if we can do what Texas A&M has done with their program ,it will be very exciting. The " Big Dance" is the greatest sporting event in the world IMO. Go Husker Hoops.

  2. Yeah sorry thought VT was 3rd, anyways assuming VT beats Kansas, that should put them at a very solid pre-season ranking next year and the beginning of their schedule is as follows:

Aug. 30 vs. East Carolina Charlotte, N.C.

    Sept. 6 Furman Blacksburg, Va.

Sept. 27 at Nebraska Lincoln, Neb.

Fairly sure they will handily beat both East Carolina and Furman and then a bye week, so they will be undefeated and will have started with a good pre-season ranking meaning there's a good chance they'd be in the top 10 maybe even top 5 when we have to play them.

VT should beat Kansas handily --- perhaps embarrassingly so.

I doubt it. Kansas is a very solid and well coached team.

  3. ...Next year. Yeah, I understand that he showed great potential and I have nothing but respect for the kid because he has heart and is actually pretty damn mobile. He knows how to scramble.

However, I think that Lee is definitely going to win out. Callahan didn't always play the best guy, as was painfully obvious this season, but I think with Bo and this new staff, the guys who know how to play, will play (including freshman, hopefully). Lee is bigger, faster, and stronger than Ganz in every way. He can do everything that Ganz can do, including scrambling, and probably a little better, plus his arm is dynamite.

It sucks because Ganz has paid his dues to get where he's at, but I think it's going to be a competitive QB battle, but in the end, we're gonna be running our offense with Lee behind center.

I think it will be a good competition, but you are wrong about Lee being faster. Ganz runs a 4.5, while Lee is listed at 4.6

  4. Whatever AR Husker Fan, I think the members of this board have every right to rip the hell out of this guy. I hope he never post's here again. It is very much like someone turning their backs on their family. The guy is a joke, and IMO was never a true Husker fan. The brotherhood of the Husker family will only grow stronger without his kind around.

  5. Bo Pelini accepted the NU job as we all know. Also, if you doubters want to hate on this info go ahead, but Gil will be the OC (at least has been offered but he is thinking about tryint to get a better head job) and although Mike Stoops will not be fired from U0fA he was offered the Defensive coordinator job and will definitely accept if UofA loses and will probably still accept even if they win.

    FYI

curious who will accuse me of stealing this from another source cause it's not being reported anywhere right now. This is from insidee the athletic dept of UofA

I thought for sure Stoops saved his job at AU with the win over Oregon. Would he really leave the million dollar job for a 200,000 dollar job. I would be shocked if this happens, but very happy.

  6. Help me understand the hatred for MU from many NU fans.

Is it jealousy that your program is down right now and MU is up?

You have beaten up on many programs for years and for the most part won with class.

Why the piss and venom for a Big 12 North school? What has MU ever done to NU considering the past 30 years? I just do not understand it.

Good luck in hiring the next coach. I truely hope NU gets back to being one of the top programs in the country.

    Tyger

Can you explain all of the hatred for NU by MU fans? Is it jealousy that until this year, your program has been down for the last 40+ years while NU was "up" for the entirety of that timespan? It's not really a new concept that fans of programs from the same region, who have to play each other every year, begin to dislike each other.

If you want something to really chew on, though, I would contend that Mizzou fans and media do the most work toward creating ill-will toward their school and football program. I live in the KC area, and every f'ing day I have to read/hear a bunch of half-baked non-sense about a shift in the "balance of power" in the Big XII North, with Nebraska "losing relevance" and "no longer being a factor." Really, guys? After one season, Columbia is suddenly the capital of Big XII football? I know winning isn't your typical M.O., but I would have figured that even the greenest of "contenders" would realize that there are virtues like TRADITION and CONSISTENCY that usually factor into success. MU is having a great year, but have you really forgotten about the booger-eating beatdown of '06 at the hands of a woefully mediocre Nebraska team? Do you really think it's a good idea to paint this target on your chest right now? All of this chest-beating seems quite premature, and is done in poor form. And that is why my second favorite team every week of this season has been the one playing Missouri.

I live in the KC area too, and I'm not a Missouri fan, but your sour grapes whining sounds really bad. Missouri is for real, and they have more talent by far right now than we do. Tradition and consistency mean nothing right now, unless you like living in the past. I only care right now about seeing NU get back and be good in the future. Missouri is the best team in the country right now, with an excellent chance of beating OU. And the scary thing is that they will be even better next year. All we can do is worry about our own program. Don't stoop to the level of huskerh8ter, who lives in Nebraska and even has a anti NU web site. Just smile and nod your head and let them enjoy their success for now. Nebraska will be back soon.Oh, and by the way, KU is the best coached team in the country right now. They got dominated the whole game against KU and still kept it close. I don't like it, but it is good for the Big12 North.

  7. Turner Gill isn't the right choice. If Turner Gill is the Guy I will still be a Husker Fan 4 Life but I will not support Turner Gill, he needs more experience and needs to find a better Defensive Coordinator period.

I understand you are a Pelini guy, I like him too, but what do you mean you will not support Turner Gill? If he comes here and wins I bet you will support him.

  8. Kelley to Michigan

    Miles stays at LSU

Pelini looking for job, fired as DC

    Johnson possible

    Grobe, I think my choice

    Gill, not ready

Peterson, no reason to come to Nebraska, not a step up, would just be a lateral move

Glenn, Nebraska ties, good results at all levels.

I do no think there is a chance of Bo Pelini coming to Nebraska. Hopefully I am right. The destruction he could do in short time is beyond my belief.

Just the thought of it makes my skin crawl.

I'm confused, where did you here that Bo Pelini was fired. And he could not destroy the program any more than it already has been. He would win right away with the talent we have

  9. I like Turner Gill as a head coach, but I have doubts about whether Lincoln would accept a black guy in that position.

Wow, you really think Lincoln is that shallow and racist? I don't think the color of his skin would make any difference to most Nebraska people at all. Turner may not be ready for this, but he would be accepted with open arms.

  10. I didn't mean to offend anyone, and I am sorry if I did........ but, I am entitled to my opinion...I believe that JP didn't do things right, and do not think that he has the right to consistantly attack the program....

I apologize if anyone is offended...... I believe what I believe..... some of you can keep making "excuses" for him, and why it is okay for some of his behavior.....you are entitled to this belief also....

I can see this topic is going to go no where....so I will leave it alone....and agian apologize to those I apparently offended....

Not that I have too..... I don't claim to know any more than anyone else...... but to answer to some of you tuff pc guys.....yes, I played, coached and am a lot closer to the NU program than most.... I knew, did-know, roomed with players, and if you think that roids didn't happen.....enjoy your dream world.

Hukserforever....ignorant..... let's talk X's and O's anytime......set up a meeting and well visit about football, not "opinions".

What in the world does X and O's have to do with you making judgments against someone you don't even know. I may not have as much football knowledge as you, but I have personal experience with addictions. And for you to turn your back on JP, because he has addiction problems is just plain wrong. If you don't like his commentary on Husker football that is one thing, but leave the addiction problem out of this.

Of course we all know that steroids are a problem in sports, but you are slandering JP by saying he did roids with no solid proof. It sounds like you are looking down on him because he did "street drugs" like crack and heroin. Well i guess you can keep looking down on him, as you down your 10th beer of the day.

  11. Link is the Rome show.....listen to sports talk radio..... I don't need to dicredit anyone......JP admits that he took a huge amount of drugs.... hell, Matt Davidson even referred to instances of "roid rage" during practices during a pre-game interview.......

My other link would be "take a friggin' look at the guy".....you don't go from 295 pounds of pure muscle, to 180 pound , skinny-faced guy by giving up "pain meds".....

How nieve are some of you guys....

Oh, I see. Because Matt Davidson said so is all the evidence we need. Yeah, he is a skinny 6'5 225 now after years of abuse. But until you have solid evidence that he used roids you should keep your mouth shut. You are the most ignorant person I have ever read on here. Get a life.

  12. Maybe these kids aren't as good as JP was because they aren't taking 25 + pills a day.....his drug use adn abuse is well documented.....especially by Jim Rome......JP didn't necessarily pour his heart and soul, he poured performance enhancing drugs and more into his body...... don't give me the crap about how he knows everything....

I was a huge, huge JP supporter until the truth came out....if you can't do it the right way, suck it up..... and if you did it the WRONG WAY JP, keep your criticisms to yourself......

Really? Were is it documented that JP used performance enhancing drugs? He became addicted to pain killers because of injury, which led him into other addictions. He is now in recovery, and should be admired for overcoming his problems. For you to hold that against him shows that you are a very shallow person. I guess it is lucky you have never had someone you care about suffer from addiction problems. Or lucky for them, because you would have turned your back on them. I feel sorry for you.

  13. jason peter is doing nothing but bashing the program..if he was a true supporter of the huskers he would keep his mouth shut

im personally tired of hearing from him

Jason Peter is not bashing the program, he is bashing the worst football coach in modern Husker football history. He has every right to express his feelings. He gave his heart and soul for this program and loves it very deeply. If you are tired of hearing from him, then don't listen to him.

  14. Dailey was a solid qb that got ruined by these coaches. HAd Barney and the gang stayed or any type of normal offense, he probably would of done well. He is not a West Coast qb and def. not a Callahan West Coast qb.

Yeah Barney, he really tore it up at NC didn't he?!!!!!!!! Hmm and they didn't run the WCO either.

Barney Cotton coached at Iowa State

  15. They now have "Every man, woman and child " rolling in the aisles from disgust.

So start picking your NEW head coach.

I prefer to stay away from religious nut jobs like Turner Gill .

How about that BOISE STATE coach?

    Who would you like?

PS. And lets get rid of that lame radio announcer.

Where every 3 yard play seems to go for a TOUCHDOWN..TOUCHDOWN!

    He makes me sick!

Hey, first post here. I had to respond to you calling Turner Gill a " religious nut job" . Do you realize that during our glory days our team was run by a group of men who were strong out spoken Christians? I have talked with many former players that say the greatest part of playing for NU was the Christian influence of the team. Turner Gill would be the perfect coach for Nebraska.
