I think it's important to realize that Cody Green isn't really a "dual threat" quarterback. The coaches, and those that have played with him before, characterize him as a passer first that can run if he absolutely needs to. We need guys like that who are actually pro-type passers but can extend plays out of the pocket if they need to. I'm not saying he can't burn people with his legs and isn't a good runner, but he is still a much better passer than a runner.
Actually Cody Green is the ideal dual threat QB that Bo and Shawn both want.
In other words: A QB that passes for 3,000+ yards while running for a 1,000+ yards...
There isn't a college coach in the entire nation that wouldn't want a Cody Green type QB.
And for you to say that Cody Green isn't a "dual-threat" type QB makes me wonder if you really understand what: 1) dual threat really means and 2) whether you know what Bo and Shawn are really looking for.
You my friend are crazy if you don't think he is a duel threat QB. Go back and watch is highlight videos.
i have watched some of the qb,s that nu want., and they have commited to other schools. i am still not convinced the penili will be the answer,,,but think he will be better than frank solich.....everyone thinks that every decision that osborn makes is gold..but that is not true....i respect dr osborn,,he is a great man, smart, and gets all my respect, but the hiring of frank solich was a blunder by coach osborn...osborn talked highly of solich,,,but i thought it was a very bad move. its really odd what has been happening at nu in the past...callahan actually recruited some good classes,,but did not produce......time will tell.
I'm sorry, but I stoped reading you're post when you spelled Osborne " Osborn" . What true Husker fan does not know how to spell Tom Osborne's name correctly?

The rumor mill has been swirling about him for about a month now. If he doesn't commit on the visit with his parents, I guess we'll be forced to assume we're waiting on someone else higher on the board. It seems that all signs are pointing towards Nebraska, but the recruiting game does get crazy sometimes.
Gabbert is #1 on our board. If he doesn't commit, which would stun me if he does not, it's simply because he did not want to be at Nebraska.
I haven't seen any film of the younger Gabbert...how strong is his arm?
Gabbert has more than enough arm to complete any throw. Like I said before, he's a 6 foot version of Blaine basically. If he had the height that Blaine had, they would be clones.
Yeah, but do they have the same leadership qualities, handle pressure, manage games..ect.

Its up to him, the offer is on the table waiting for him. I doubt the coaches would tell him they are waiting for some one higher, and that his offer is on hold. I bet he commits on his visit.

I voted Gabbert, but I really want it to be Robinson.
-
I was on the Gabbert bandwagon, but I have switched. This kid has a much bigger upside than little Gabbert IMO. I think I wanted Gabbert mainly to piss off Mizzou.
-
Well if he does visit the booger colored Ducks... Maybe he will realize there is a ex-husker on the coaching staff. Scott Frost!
Just trying to look at the bright side... maybe...
Problem is that everytime we offer and Oregon offers we seem to be on the losing end of things.
I don't think so on this one though. Oregon is a late jumper and it seems like Gabbert is ready to commit to NU any day now. Could be way off, but I don't think so.
I'm not worried about Oregon at all. If he has any dreams of playing in the NFL, he better not go to a school that runs the spread. Especially with his lack of measureables( 6 foot tall)

Thought it was worth noting, Cole placed 2nd in Shot Put at the NE State Track meet with a distance of
57' 11-1/2
Great Job Cole!
Not a bad throw, good job Cole. Of course Kent Wells threw it 63 feet back in the mid 80's for Lincoln East, but he was much bigger than Cole when he was in h.s.

per ESPN: Tennessee became the latest school to offer Palmdale (Calif.) defensive back Joshua Shaw and the Vols immediately jumped to the top of his list.
"That's my top choice right now," Shaw said. "They have a legendary coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball. Monte Kiffin would be great to learn from and I know he could prepare me for the next level because he has been there and knows what it takes to get there."
Yeah, but it is too bad Monte's son is a complete douche bag

Ambles' coach surprised by rumors
If USC is dropping Under Armour All-American WR Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga./Henry County), as its been rumored, then it's news to his high school coach.
Henry County coach Mike Rozier said that Trojans assistant Todd McNair was in his school for two hours last Friday checking up on Ambles.
"(McNair) was here, he had lunch and we had a nice visit," Rozier said. "He seemed like he wanted him. They can only come twice and they've been here twice so far. I don't know where these rumors are coming from."
Rozier added that Southern California head coach Pete Carroll had made his one allotted phone call to Ambles.
The talented receiver also confirmed his unofficial visit to USC in early June (a trip that also is supposed to include stops at UCLA and Cal) and a return trip to the Trojans' Rising Stars Camp on June 24-25 are still on.
"He's still going to the camp and I am supposed to go out there and work the camp," Rozier said.
There were also rumors about Georgia pulling off of Ambles. The Bulldogs have never officially offered him, according to Rozier. Ambles has stated multiple times that he is likely heading out of state.
Oh, now I see where you got it. Its like last year, where Chris Williams coach was named Steve Warren, but he was not the Steve Warren who played for NU.

Surprise Husker Offer
“I was pretty surprised to get an offer from them (Nebraska). It was really cool I mean I didn’t know they would have any interest for me being on the east coast. I sure would consider visiting Nebraska to lean little more about them and the program.” Mc Cray said
“Nebraska’s offer is pretty recent,” says Mc Cray, “I’m been trying to get in touch with them. I tried to call a couple of times we’ve been calling back and forth but I haven’t had much luck.” Mc Cray added
Will someone please pick up the damn phone?
I think Pap would be good to put on him.
Damn, get on the ball Husker coaches.
-
Is he coached by former Husker Mike Rozier?
No, Rozier lives in South Jersey, and does not coach h.s football. What gave you the idea that he was a h.s coach in Georgia?
-
Great thread. Welcome to the board.
-
If potential RBs hear that Aaron Green is high on us (2011), it could scare some off.
I wouldn't want any RB who is scared of competition that is a recruiting class behind him. Wouldn't say much for his confidence.

Been reported that Mizzou commit Marquise Hill has stated he will take an official visit to nebraska and is still a Mizzou commit but probably now considered a very soft verbal. Marquise said, "I really want to go to a Big 12 North school, and I want to go to the best one. I thought Missouri was gonna be the top, but now with Bo Pelini at Nebraska I think they will soon be the best in the North and Big 12 champs. I want to play for the best team, and I feel Nebraska will be that team."
Just Kidding. Thought it would be fun to see Fro's reaction.
Okay, I have no problem with tormenting fans from other teams...but could you please not make SH** up?!
Because as I read that I was getting excited...and then I find out you made it up...
LOL I just saw this. I think it bothered eveyone else more than me. I actually laughed imagining everyone getting excited then seeing the bottom. I can only imagine the words that came from Jen's mouth. I think i felt my ears burning from the profanity! LOL (love ya Jen!!)
He has been soft for a while. Everything I see says I want to check out schools, but still really like MU. But then again when reading a MU site or any school really, your going to get your side of the story. So who really knows. I would say MU or Arkansas. BUt what do I know
Don't ask me how I know this...but...
You should NEVER get a woman excited, and then go soft.
LMAO.. Well played Husker 37, well played.

Is his Dad the coach?
He looks like he should play OG. (If he had more speed)
4.9 40 isn't speed?
(I'll bite.. (you forgot the sarcasm thingie?))
Not even in the late '70's
(I ran a 4.9 er.. 5.0 back in '79 and I was one of the slowest on my team).
I could probably run a 4.9 today if a Bee was chasing me and I didn't stop once or twice to take a break.
My Nephew ran a 4.32 a few years ago and ended up playing IB at a small private college in Oregon...Excuse me..ENDED up transferring to ASU and is a semester away from graduating with honors from the Engineering School.
(Wants to go to Grad School at Penn State).
...4.9/40=Speed ??? .....Maybe in the "Planet of the Apes"
4.32??? I call major b.s on that one. Cosidering the fastest RB at the combines this year was 4.4, there is no way you're nephew ran that fast. maybe if his coach used a hand held stopwatch and had a very itchy trigger finger..lol

his high school coach says Kansas leads for him and as soon as he sees the campus he'll talk about committing....

Article in the news about his committment
Sounds like a great guy to have coming here. It will be exciting to see what he does next year on the field and during his career at Nebraska.
Beat me to it. Glad to hear his father and coach won't be putting any pressure on him to re-consider KU.
I have met Coach Donohoe, and he is a really cool guy, so it does not suprise me that is not putting any pressure on Terry.
-
Trust me guys, we don't want anyone other than Tyler Gabbert in this class.
Why do you say that? Have you seen Gabbert play in person, and think he is the best QB in the country or something?
-
I would be shocked if he does not commit to NU.
-
it seems to me that KU is going after all the same guys as us. I just can't understand how we could ever lose recruits to Kansas in football. I mean, would a basketball recruit ever pick NU over NU? Maybe once in a blue moon would that ever happen.
-
It doesn't, although we were hopeful. Is that against the rules all great and powerful Oz?
And WTF is THIS all about?
Maybe now the Husker Nation can give up on the pipe dream of “Golden Boy” playing in the NFL.It seems as though every post I've ever read from you, when you're commenting on Joe Ganz, consists of hatred, animosity, disdain and/or contempt for the guy.
Man, what did Joe Ganz ever do to you that you feel the need to piss on him at every turn?
Like I have stated before I grew very tired, very fast of the boner that a lot of the Husker Nation had for one Joey Ganz. I have also grown very tired of his “no respect” stuff. Like I have said he is what he is, which is a decent 1 year starter that if it wasn’t for Kevin Cosgrove would have been playing at a lower level D1 school. He was not the “All Everything” player that some would want you to believe he was.
I wish him the best of luck in whatever it is he does from here on out. Which in my opinion does not include playing professional football.
Thanks for calling me OZ, although it didn’t take Miss Cleo or whoever can see into the future to see that Ganz was not going to make it in the NFL
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go give a Lion some courage, a tin-man a heart, a scarecrow some brains and help young Dorothy get back to Kansas.
I don't get you're stance on Joe at all. No one ever said he was a great QB, or that he would make the pros's, but everyone but you loves his heart, leadership and work ethic. He never said one word about getting playing time, even when everyone knew he should have won the starting job over Sam. He did express some frustration about not getting invited to the combines, when others he felt he was better than did, but who could blame him.
Its one thing for you say that he is not pro material, but you come across like you just don't like the guy, which does not make any sense to alot of posters on here. In fact when you wish him luck over and over again in you're threads, it is hard to belive that you are sincere about it.

Rivals has a small blurb about him in a (free) article about where the best QBs are going:
Ballwin (Mo.) Parkway West's Tyler Gabbert has offers from Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Colorado State, but sources say the offers from Kansas and Nebraska stand out and it could end up being a two-team race between those schools.the thing that would worry me about Kansas, is with Reesing being a senior, Gabbert might see a chance to move up the depth chart quicker there.
-
gabbert should b a heck of a player in years to come
Yeah, I think Tyler Gabbert will be a heck of a player too, as long as he does not play for Mizzou in the spread.
-
Sorry griswold, but the truth is, none of us husker fans really care about Blaine Dalton. I give the kid more credit than Willie, but this is a thread about Tyler Gabbert, so let get back on topic shall we.
I hope he will commit soon, because getting a solid QB is always important. Plus, I think it will help in us getting Lucas.
This years "breakout" defensive player?
in Husker Football
Posted
Asante is my pick for having a bigtime break out year. I think he will be all Big12, as he has all the tools, and another year in Bo's system.
