  1. just a little bright spot....all these posts have started to feed a fire deep within the recesses of my soul!! the negativety--the coz bashing--the 1183 ways we wish billy c would step aside...

i just thought of this. and i think it has to do with the fact i'm in Sweden right now and it's DAMN cold....

when all of this washes away and these Brutus' are gone----we are going to get a coach hired by none other than Tom Osborne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap

Then, in about mid March----we're going to have a new Spring Game with new philosophy's and a brand new aggressive approach.

It will be like a nice toasty fire on a freezing Stockholm winter day!!

Here's to a new start. Just in time for Spring Ball!!!!!!!!!!!! :corndance:corndance:corndance:cheers:cheers

T.O. hand-picked Frank Solich. That didn't work out so well.

Not that I'm bashing T.O. - the man is just next to Jesus IMO. I'm just saying that I don't expect miracles here.

Hey I would take what OL' Frank accomplished (not that it was spectacular) any day over the crappy hand we have been dealt with for the last 4 years. Billy C's best year (too many people) was the 2006 season, and we had 5 losses. Plus with Frank the tradition was still intact.

  2. Most points scored on the Husker's defense in the first half with 48. Topples the record of 42 set by Colorado in '01.

Wrong, the record was with Texas Tech they said on TV in 2004 with 49 in the first half...Maybe TV was wrong though...

All of these broken records are sure going to look fantastic on a bunch of coaches resumes at the end of the year

  3. Maybe this has already been discussed, but...

I was watching the press conference and I notice that Billy C is again, not wearing any Husker gear. Is this a sign that he has already written himself off as being the coach next year...or is he just rebelling against "the man", since his best buddy was fired? I'm sure the players can sure pick up on that.

I think he did that 3 weeks ago when he didn't wear Husker attire. :) I just wish he'd man up and rsign for all involved. :)

I'm willing to bet some money that if we win this weekend, he is in that press conference completely covered in red.

  5. I have been traveling the last couple of days, but caught something on the radio for a split second last night. Did the blackshirts all voluntarily take off their blackshirts or did they lose them? Or did I miss the whole conversation all together?

  6. From talking to a few people close to the program and close to big boosters, here is what I've heard...

After the game there was a meeting with many of the big time boosters, including I believe the Touchdown Club (not 100% sure on that one, the last guy I was taking to was at an event in Dallas and it was hard to hear him) and University officials. Word is that there will be contracts bought out tomorrow or very soon after. I did not get specifics on who, but Peterson's name came up in every conversation. Also no name was given for who would replace him. No names at all were give on who would fill the shoes of anyone, just that there will be buyouts soon.

I hope you are right, but I know better than to get my hopes up to high.

  7. Has anyone else noticed that we have had only one halfback pass....I don't think we have had any other gadget plays this year, have we? Last year, we would see one a game, this year there is one total. I think the coaches have given up as well. I know that BC totally quit in the 2nd half. How do we get so far down and throw only 18 passes, or don't try something crazy to get the momentum back?

Last year we would get down by a touchdown and we would sling the ball all over the field and never run the ball again. We get down by 30, we only run the ball.....I honestly think BC doesn't even know what to do.

  8. NU vs aTm. These are quotes from TexAgs :rollin

*Fran vs. Callahan: It will be like watching two retards play chess.

*Well it ought to be a good pillowfight.

*It will actually be a poorly executed pillowfight.

*it would be the equivalent of Mark Mangino and Charlie Weis running the 40-yard dash :rollin Slightly amusing, very awkward to watch and someone will have to win

Don't worry A&M fans, we make even the worst teams look like National Champs.

  9. NU Volleyball Coach John Cook took out the number one player, Sara Pavan, because he didn't think she was playing well enough. Interesting concept.

Pavan not sure why she was pulled

BY TODD HENRICHS / Lincoln Journal Star

    Wednesday, Oct 10, 2007 - 12:26:04 am CDT

Sarah Pavan’s immediate reaction to being pulled from Saturday’s match at Colorado was striking.

When she re-entered the lineup for the third game, Nebraska’s senior right-side hitter smacked eight kills on 10 swings to finish off the struggling Buffaloes.

But even as the top-ranked Huskers were turning their attention to Wednesday night’s televised home match against Iowa State, Pavan’s response to being benched was still powerful on Tuesday. Pavan said that she didn’t know what she had done wrong at the time and predicted that she may never know.

“Saturday was more confusion than anything,” said Pavan, who was replaced by freshman Kayla Banwarth in the back row and another freshman, Lindsey Licht, at the net.

“I wanted my team to do well and I was happy for the players on the court, definitely,” Pavan added. “I just wish the situation was handled in a better way.”

It certainly was an unusual circumstance. Pavan, last year’s national player of the year and in many ways the centerpiece of Nebraska’s budding volleyball dynasty, has rarely left the court over her four seasons.

There have been times when she’s struggled serving that a replacement has come in or situations where Nebraska head coach John Cook has subbed out Pavan in order to keep three hitters along the front row.

But the times when Pavan has underperformed — she’s 68 kills from breaking Allison Weston’s NU career record and won every volleyball award known to man, and then some, last season — have been few and far between.

There may be no bigger perfectionist than the 6-foot-5 Pavan in the college game.

“But I think you have to hold your best players to the highest accountability,” Cook said. “Sometimes players just need to regroup a little bit and get their focus back.

“Sarah wasn’t quite focused and was making some mental errors, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to get her out and for her to clear her head.”

Cook said his concerns were related to Pavan’s play defensively.

“We had just talked about making those adjustments because Colorado kept tipping us,” he said. “They know that if they do not give out effort, there will be a consequence. In practice, it might be getting kicked out of a drill. In a match, it’s you might have to come out and take a break.”

    That is a good coach

  10. I just heard on 1620 the zone, that when Chase Daniel was interviewed he said, "that Kevin Cosgrove was stubborn, that the coaches at Nebraska are stubborn"...he was talking about not going away from the 3-4 defense. He also said that "it was like highschool football".

The coaches of Missourri even mocked the defensive schemes and were puzzled by why KC did not switch up the defense.

  12. I have never posted before but have good friends that are Nebraska Alum and over the years always loved looking forward to the great games between our schools.

All I can say is we were really pulling to see a turn-around this year by Nebraska. It just hurts to watch the team right now.

We made the trip the last time OU played in Lincoln and your fans were terrific. Hoping things turn around soon for all the Husker fans.

Thanks for the support...I always have to root for the Sooners. The Husker and Sooner rivalry was something I wished my kid could have seen. Ah, the good ol days.

  13. Good to have you aboard.

And this may be blasphemous...but I've sort of adopted Oklahoma as the team I want to win. At least 1 of the 2 once great teams from the old Big 8 can have some success. Kansas is my option if I'm pulling for the Big 12 North.

When chosing my interim team, I first looked at where I was treated well. I have gone to a CU game and had bottles thrown at me, I have gone to a KSU game where I was lucky to walk away alive, Mizzou fans aren't angels....but KU fans down in Lawrence were great. So here is to my Huskers and my new team KU :wasted

  14. Get it now for Christmas...

That's hilarious! I hope it's not made in communist China and contains lead. But seriously, I honestly don't think Cali is running our team into the ground on purpose, he just doesn't have a clue and any idea of how to save it.

Where can I buy this new toy, my 2 year old would love it. Can you customize it to say "we just need to get better", "I'm not blaming the players, I want that to be perfectly clear", or "we had our guys in position, we just didn't make plays".
