I'd like to pin all the problems on McCray, but Collier is still on the bench and I think he is the real problem.  Hopefully they can turn it around for his sake, but I see another inconsistent Big 12 run with a one and done in the tourney.

Which tourney? I'd be thrilled if they made it to the big dance, even if they did go one and done. I don't think this team will go to the NCAA but they might make the NIT. GBR!

I think the Huskers should and will win this one. Home court advantage will carry 'em.

To put things in perspective, before NU beat Kansas State earlier this evening, the Huskers were ranked #139 ( http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketbal...olls/rpi/index2 ), Kansas is #144(!), K-State was ranked #52 and Oklahoma was #91. Our strength of schedule is killing us (again)! We are far and away the lowest ranked team with 11 wins (again, before the K-State win). Peterson needs to put some meat in the pre-season schedule. I'd rather have the Huskers lose to a Duke or a Kentucky than blow out the patsies he sets up for them. At least they'd get to see how a class program is run. South Dakota State (#220)? Chicago State (#275)? Longwood (#298)? Northern Colorado (#315)? How can any team improve and/or get ready for league play when they're not going up against any decent competion?

I read that Husker fans will outnumber Michigan fans 10 to 1 in the stands on Wednesday. That amounts to a home game for Nebraska. I'm thinking that if the crowd let's them know how much they're behind them, this team could play inspired football and take the Wolvies! Michigan lost AT HOME to a Minnesota team that was soundly beaten by an Iowa team that was stomped by an Iowa State team that was beaten by Nebraska. On any given day, any team can beat any other team (ask the Jayhawks) and you could certainly plug NU and Michigan into that equation.

By my earlier post I was not trying to say that CU deserves this game anymore than any other team in the North, just pointing out the fact that a team can go to the National Championship game but does not even get to play in its conference Championship game.

Is that still possible? I thought the NCAA changed the ruling that you had to win your conference championship game (if one exists) in order to play in the National Championship game - or maybe I just heard that it was the way things should be after NU played in the National Championship Rose Bowl after not playing in the Big XII Championship game.

Nebraska seemed to be a yo-yo team this year. Either they were up or down. Kansas sucked, but we sucked more that week. Watching the Huskers make Cream of Buffalo soup was fun though. If Nebraska can't make it to the Big XII Championship game, the next best thing will be watching Texas decapitate Ralphie. Hook 'em Horns and then it's on to de-throne the Trojans.

At the risk of sounding wishy-washy, last year's 5-6 record was so disappointing that this year's 6-4 (so far) record seems like an improvement, but having the first 5 games at home and beating a sub-par Maine team didn't show me anything either. That said, does Nebraska belong in a bowl game? Of course they do. They're 6-4 and if LeKevin holds onto his last minute interception in the Texas Tech game, they're 7-3 going into Boulder. But the stompings they suffered in Missouri and Kansas are real causes for concern. It's one thing to lose to an improving team like Kansas on the road, but 40-15? Come on! It's obvious that these coaches can't inspire the team to win on the road. I say, give them their bowl game this year and judge the improvement next year. This year's schedule was way too easy. As it stands, I see only two wins next year (four if Pud gets a couple of patsies to fill the empty weeks). IMO the only way BC fixes that is if he dumps Norvell and Cosgrove and gets some people in here that can really put some fire into these kids. (I will never understand why they didn't even attempt to keep Pellini. Nothing ventured, Cosgrove gained.) If the Huskers can get into a bowl game with next year's schedule -and I don't care how they do it -that will be a sure sign of improvement, but with the schedule that they had this year, 6 wins really doesn't say very many positive things about this team.

Best finish scenario for NU:  We beat Colorado, KU beats Iowa State, K-State beats Missouri

I think KU could beat Iowa State in Lawrence. I believe Kansas State stands a chance of beating Missouri in Manhattan. Sadly, I don't think Nebraska stands an ice cube's chance in hell against Colorado in Boulder.

As regards Nebraska, I don't think it makes any difference whether ISU beats CU or the other way around (although I was cheering for the Cyclones all the way). I'm just glad I have to work during the Colorado game and don't have to watch the Buffs score over 100 points.

By the way, did the Iowa State fans tear down the goal posts after their team took it to the Buffaloes?
