  1. Unless it's a schedule poster, I don't think you'll find any official Kenny Bell posters for sale.

As Clyde40 pointed out, you might find some 8x10's

You could also check some back issues of Husker-related magazines...Hail Varsity....Big Red Report...Huskers Illustrated....to see if they have any Kenny Bell centerfolds.

  2. Six replays of a 37 yard field goal?

Paul Rogers, the game MVP, has 4 FG's in the 1st qtr.

In the days of the straight-on-toe-poke kickers, it was a big accomplisment.

With each made FG, I recap his previous made attempts.

The DVD of the entire game doesn't have the kick replays right on top of each other.

The radio is over about 2 hours 20 minutes long. The game film is only 35 minutes.

When putting these radio / film projects together, I try to let the radio audio run with minimal editing.

I have to stretch the video using techiniques like; replays, player photos, graphics and historical features.

I wish the film was better quality. The field being grass bare doesn't help.

  3. In 1976, preseason #1 Nebraska opened on the road in Baton Rouge vs LSU.

Nebraska wore their home red jerseys. LSU wore their white w/ gold pants.

    LSU tied Nebraska 6-6.

In the 1977 Liberty Bowl, both Nebraska & North Carolina wore their home jerseys.

Nebraska beat the powder blue clad Tar Heels 21-17.

Another "all color game" in 1978, Hawaii visited Memorial Stadium and wore ther home green jerseys.

    Nebraska won 56-10.

  4. I hope I'm wrong but I think that a lot of Husker fans are putting too much faith and confidence into winning this game. We all want to win but realistically

I noticed you said "a lot of Husker fans.." and not a majority of Husker fans.

Based on game predictions, I think the majority of Husker fans feel the same as you do...NU's probably going to lose a close game.

Those who think Nebraska will win (myself included) are entitled to their opinions...same as you.

  5. Many of the games mentioned are currently "in circulation".

I'd be interested in some 'lost treasures':

1966 Nebraska vs Colorado...Nebraska rallies from 7-19 hole to win 21-19.

1969 Nebraska vs Kansas...controversial calls help Nebraska win 21-17 and start their 32-game unbeaten streak.

1972 Nebraska vs Colorado, on ABC, the nationally televised game that thrust Johnny Rodgers into the Heisman lead.

1973 Nebraska vs UCLA, on ABC, Tom Osborne's 1st win

1974 Nebraska vs Texas, on CBS, Tom Osborne's 1st bowl win.

1975 Nebraska vs Missouri, on ABC, the 'bummerooski' and Tom Osborne's 1st win over Mizzou

There's silent film of most of these games available (except '72 Colorado).

I've love to discover the network telecasts of some of these games.

Or, a combination of the radio & film that can be assembled into a "broadcast".

  6. You said "First, stop spelling like you went to Ames College." That's insulting his education right there. I see where your coming from with he shouldn't need help, but some people just aren't good at stuff like that.

also, you said that this topic is idiotic, so there for by contributing to this topic/thread, wouldn't that be contributing to it?

I appreciate you trying to see both sides.

Did you happen to notice what I was referring to when I wrote that?

"Ur right cy its not the cyclones..."

I'm not the best writer...but I don't treat my posts like they're a text message.

I mean, if a guy wants to project a poor image, fine by me.

The topic of this tread...coming up with slams, lame jokes, insults for his Cyclone in-laws is idiotic...I want to come up with "Cyclone insults"...but, I don't want to "insult the Cyclones".

I believe I addressed the "idiotic topic" issue already.

No...I'm not going help the guy come up with lame jokes or insults for his in-laws.

  7. just saying that you shouldn't question the guys education. Since it's an "idiotic topic" aren't you just contributing to the idiocy?

I didn't question his education....perhaps his knowledge about his favorite team...I mean, is this really a topic a guy needs help with?! Then, it turns out he didn't want stats... just wants jokes?!

For Pete's sake, google "football rival jokes" . Insert "Iowa State" in the punchline.

Am I contributing to "idiocy"? Well, I can tell you I'm not gonna throw out a bunch jokes, slams, comments so a guy can back at his in-laws. So I would say 'no, I'm not contributing'.

  8. Here now...just because the in-laws are pricks don't mean you have to go all postal on the Cyclones.

If it ain't football it'll be something else. just kill em and be done with it....

Ur right cy its not the cyclones. Id root for them over iowa any day. I root for them because there the home state school and there the underdog and i have a special place in my heart for underdogs. But they rip on my team so i dont know what else to do.

First, stop spelling like you went to Ames College.

"But they rip on my team so i dont know what else to do."

    What?! Grow a pair Nancy.

Educate yourself on Nebraska vs Iowa State....get some facts. READ & RETAIN!

When getting in debate with Iowa State, a Nebraska fan shouldn't have to ask for help.

and when he asks for a fellow husker fans advice or help, you don't need to act like a douchebag.

It's got nothing to do with Husker partisanship.

If one Husker fan throws an orange at a game, should I throw one... or point pout the jerk who thew it?

It's an idiotic topic...Iowa State jokes, slams, derogatory comments for his in laws (of all people).

  9. To hell with the spellin.

I have nothing against ISU. But if my inlaws bashed Nebraska in favor of ANY team, it would be ON. Our history vrs theirs..... common. Read up on it and you won't even have to take notes. They are no where close to being comparable.

Than again I almost always do the right thing.... stay the hell away from the in-laws and ban them from my house ANY day.

    :koolaid2:

What is baffling is, how can anyone be a Nebraska fan...and be so uneducated about it's history and tradition that you need help in a history vs history debate vs anybody?!

    Nebraska vs Iowa State...

    Series record?

    National Championships?

    Conference Championships?

    Bowl History?

Size of Stadium? Does our stadium have grass enbankments?!

When Ames College plays in Lincoln, is half the stadium Cyclone fans?!

    NFL players?

    All-Americans?

    Academic All-Americans?

    Heisman Trophy winners?

College football hall of fame members?

...and I can't win a debate with my in-laws?! :wtf

Dont question my pride or my education. I was looking for more jokes then stats. I know all to well about nebraskas history with isu. My first football game was at isu when we lost to them. I had to hear all about how isu was the new big red all the way back to my car. And unlike most i dont have anyone around me to back up my nebraska pride its just me in a seat of red and gold. If you dont have anything decent to say then shut up. Plain and simple. If you dont have anything constructive to say then keep your comments to yourself. Do i know you, no but we have a something in common were nebraska fans. I would think that alone would allow me some help. If you dont want to help then dont but dont make the problem worse buy me argueing with you over the internet. If you dont have anything decent to say then please feel free not to type it.

    Ben

    "...more jokes, thAn stats"?

You want jokes?! Now, you want jokes?!

Seriously, you need help with that?

Maybe a better idea is to keep your infamily squabbles...infamily.

I've been around opposing teams fans. I've been to Iowa St. for the last 3 trips. Had some ISU fans on our bus. Exchanged some good natured ribbing with them. I never had to ask for internet help. The last couple of times they beat Nebraska...Nebraska was not very good.

If you're the only Husker is sea of Cyclone fans and get pissed when you're heckled...grow a thicker skin, or move...go hang out with Husker fans.

  10. To hell with the spellin.

  12. Nah...he volunteered to move to FB so that Rozier could go full time. Or they asked him to make the switch. Can't remember now which it was...either way, it always seemed to me that he was the forgotten guy back then.

Roger did play some FB on the "I' formation. He had a nagging ankle sprain that hampered him virtually his entire senior year. Doug Wilkening played FB most of the time in 1982.

Back then, Nebraska was also experimenting with a split back formation trying to get both Craig & Rozier in the same backfield, called the "weak set".

While there was more of a running threat with Craig & Rozier in the same backfield, Osborne also said he didn't want to "take a great I-back and turn him into an average fullback ."

  13. rofl on another message board.

    here are his reasons.

A- I don't think there are any more passionate fans in the country than LSU fans

B- When considering the most passionate fans, I rarely ever hear NU fans mentioned

C- I hung around a bunch of NU fans in S.A. in '03 for their bowl game vs. Mich. St. --- talked mad sh#t to them for about 3 days straight and never heard as much of a peep in response.

    A- "I don't think"...aannd cut. Stop right there.

    B- See "I don't think"

C- Who wants to talk to someone from Lousiana?

  14. I generally think of a monster defense when I think of Nebraska but then I think of this:

Since 1970 - Nebraska has only been held scoreless in TWO games!!!!

That's 37 years people....maybe 300 games....and to be held scoreless in only 2 games. It boggles the imagination.

Question of the day....name the years and the teams that held them scoreless

    Two regular season games:

    Oklahoma 0-27 in 1973

    Arizona State 0-19, 1996

...and the loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl.

Iowa State has been shut out 12 time since 1970...7 of those at the hands of Nebraska.

Since 1970, Nebraska has shut out 49 foes

  15. Anyone have the 1964 Nebraska vs Minnesota Football Program?

I've got the Nebraska-side of things pretty well covered from other sources.

I`m looking for player photos of the 1964 Minnesota Gophers football team.

Such players as: John Hankinson, Aaron Brown, Ray Crockett, Ray Whitlow, Bruce Van De Walker, Joe Pung, Brian Callahan and Fred Farthing

If anyone has an old program, press guide or other publication, and is willing to scan the photos, then e-mail them to me....I would trade a couple of games from my library for thet service.

  16. The most obviously blown call that resulted in a big play in a big game?

1988, at UCLA. The Bruins ring up 28 points in Q1. Early in Q2, Mark Blazek picks off a pass and falls to his knee. It's not that his knee scraped the ground, he came down solidly. Then he gets up, looks around, and realizes he never heard a whistle, and starts running to the end zone. Players on both sides are coming on and off the field. Blazek goes 75 yards untouched and unchased. Never a whistle. The ref shrugs and signals touchdown. UCLA scored the next 10 and NU was never in the game, so it's pretty well forgotten.

The Wiggins kick could've been called but that's really a judgement call on intent. He didn't kick at the ball, it landed on his foot. I believe he probably lifted his foot up to keep it alive, but could a ref really make that judgement? It definitely could've been from the hit.

I had always thought the Ruud hit on the kickoff in OU 1978 was a horrible call but I heard a couple years ago that the returner was called out of bounds when he caught the ball, before the hit.

1988 UCLA...after the Blazek int, he actually rolls and his rump hits the ground. And as noted, no whistle...teammates told him to "keep running" and he jogged to the end zone.

The Wiggins kick, yes bad call.

The Missouri db hit Wiggins early. It was interference on Missouri and it wasn't called.

Credit Wiggins for doing whatever it takes to keep the play alive.

Where was the DB covering Davisson? How come he never made the play?

He must've "quit" on the play, I guess.

As far as I'm concerned, I've seen enough terrible calls go against Nebraska...if one goes "our" way, I'll take it and not aplogize for it.

1978 OU, freshman back-up qb Kelly Phelps gets blasted by John Ruud (not to be confused with his brother, Tom).

Phelps did not step out of bounds. There was no whistle blown as Phelps tippy-toed the sideline.

The ball was marked down at the point of the hit,...but his forward progress was stopped. I mean it was STOPPED! Keith Jackson even remarks what a bad call that was.

The Blazek int run, the Crouch facemask, the Ruud hit were about as bad of calls I've ever seen.

  17. Ended up being a co-captain and still holds the NU record for most tackles in a game (31 for those of you who don't know).

I have the radio call of this game...1976 Oklahoma State, right?

My dad was a native of Monroe, NE...so we were always fans of the Pillens.

I'd call Clete Pillen, the "Randy Gradishar" of Nebraska.

The guy seemed to make EVERY tackle!

  18. For the grand prize...name the two former UNO players that started the 1976 season on active NFL rosters...

I would shoot from the hip and say Rod Kush & Marlin Briscoe?

    Huskers I can think of...

    John Dutton - Colts

    Bill Olds

    Jeff Kinney

    Tony Davis - Bengals

    Jerry Tagge - Packers

    Doug Dumler - Vikings

    Mick Tingelhoff - Vikings

Joe Blahak...play for the Vikings in the famous "Hail Mary" game in 1975

    Don Westbrook (?) Patriots

    Wille Harper - 49ers

    Tom Alward - Tampa Bay

    Rik Bonness

Ron McDole & Pat Fischer - Washington

Johnny Rodgers played for San Diego in 1978...played in the "Holy Roller" game vs Oakland...I don't know if he was on an NFL roster in 1976

A couple others I'm not sure of...Ken Geddes & Jim McFarland
