  1. I would think the coaches have a pretty good idea after watching a lot of film on the recruits what position they should play. Maybe some can train for multiple positions if the need is there.

I think (IMHO) that BC will play two backs especially if one is a good blocker and can catch the ball (not all the time). Gives the opposing LB's something to think about having to watch two safety valves. And dare I say it maybe even have the qb toss an option on occasion if the situation warrants it. Might see some of that with JD now that there are other qbs to use also. Nah. Just funnin!!!!!!!

  2. I was very impressed with what BC and Co did last year with little time. DAMN look what they have done with a full year. Even with a 5-6 record they recruit a bunch of great prospective players. If they can play like their rating MAN WOMAN AND CHILD

  3. These coaches did a pretty great job recruiting in such a short time last year. Now they are showing what they can do given more time to concentrate on the recruiting process. My guess is that this year will be more in tune with what BC and company have in mind for the football program. The staff is going to put the best players on the field. To me that is good coaching, play the best and work hard helping the others improve.

  5. Its hard to argue with that especially since he is an instate guy. What would Husker Nation do if the Ruud's had said that or Rimington. Head on a pike maybe? no not northern LOL Look at MU last year some good games and some horrible, just like ours only they had some great talent and no annual coaching changes. Brooks should bring the Husker Nation threat level to RED.

  6. IMO if both lines improve and the quarterback???? can hit the open man then the yards will come. Those two WR's from Tx seem to be tall enough and quick enough but it sounds like that wasnt the trouble last year. Granted getting the best offensive recruits will improve the team but maybe not immediately. Like BC said the WCO hinges on the play of the qb so Harrison Beck/Zac Taylor/Jordan Adams/Joe Dailey and company need to find the open man. Hit the open man and they will come :)

Of course, that includes the JUCO players coming in this year too.!

I do believe all their eligibility has been exhausted and they all have agents!!!

The bench warmers in the NFL could mop up any NCAA team period. Cream of the crop and all that. :wtf were you thinkin about.

What about the Boston Red Sox should they come and play too? :rollin

  9. With such a morally bankrupt lying and cheating adminstration and coaching staff why o why are we getting so many good recruits to commit? Are they just like the staff and admin similar to what the other teams in the 90's were. Nobody is perfect. Every team has problems. This team is no exception but how many bad apples has BC let go to get the team where it should be? I predict many of these recruits are pretty good god fearing people and there may be some gangsters too. As long as BC doesnt recruit more people like Incognito (who recruited him?) I think the integrity and pride will be just fine.

  10. me too I am looking at the positive aspects of the recruiting class. Such as filling in where our depth is thin and getting some quality players. Until LOI day it is a moot point to say how Coach Callahan and the other coaches have done. I consider myself a "true fan" and have stuck with the skers since 1964 (old enough to know) and heard all the crap from a minor segment of the fan base that didn't like BD or TO. So this appears to be a continuation of the same.

  11. I think a big part of this years D will be which player will step up to lead the team. The JUCO players will hopefully play a big part in filling the gaps left by graduation and leaving for the NFL. Maybe some of the freshmen will prove to be the next Fabian. The main thing is having guys with non stop motors. Like everbody has said, Speed is the name of the game. We had it in the past and can get it again. This year the D should be more cohesive with a stable group of coaches without major changes in philosphy. IMO the D should play the weaker teams much tougher and make a game out of the bigger challenges.

  12. Never beat a team with a balanced attack? What do you call the OU team in 2001? FS was one of three coaches in the Big 12 to beat Stoops since Stoops first year at OU. Exactly what stellar teams did TO win beat his first oh lets say 15-20 years as head coach?

Whoa case in point in reply Colorado, Miami. I think in the OU game Jason White blew out a knee ? Another poiint in case, no one held a gun to FS's head and forced him to take over for the legendary TO. With his experience 15+ years he knew full well what kind of situation he was falling head first into. Like at Eagle Raceway, if ya can't run with the BIG DOGS, stay on the porch.

Poor Frank probably had to get emotional assistance to be able to take his measly little 795,000 buy out to the bank.

For all of you who feel sorry for him; he just made more money than most people earn in their lifetime. (for getting fired!!!!!!!)

Sure he didnt want to be fired but he never proved he could win against any team that had a balanced attack and could stuff his offense easily. Remember 8-9 in the box.

In the article he has to scrape by on 200K+ at Ohio.

Maybe the FS lovers out there should start a charity drive for the poor guy.

I'm not a FS hater more ambivalent than anything. (similar to agnostic just not religious)

BC may not be the answer either but I will support him until proven wrong. I don't want to hear about last year except in comparison to the next 4 years

OPTIMISM I know for some that will be an impossibility. Sorry, please seek appropriate professional medical assistance.

  14. thanks for the great link. I don't check the OWH site often enough. Spend most of my online time here reading threads. Thoughts to ponder. BC may have been a little shocked at the magnitude of enthusiasm in the state. Bet ya he doesn't anymore. The article I think hit it on the head that BC wants to keep a low profile and reduce the chance of any negative vibes getting out so close to LOI day. Especially since we all know how objective the media is.

  15. I kinda wondered if there weren't team orders for Dailey to not run or minimize the risk. Maybe that could have influenced Joe's mindset. When he ran out of bounds a couple of times instead of diving or running over somebody he didn't seem the type to shy away from the contact. I think Joe could start with BC not worrying so much about a backup. If Taylor learns the system and verbage quickly then may Joe won't get much time. BC may not want to burn Beck's redshirt if he thinks the others will succeed unless Beck is the real deal and tears it up. Damn it's a B_tch waiting for the spring and fall again.

  17. I have got to jump on your bandwagon. I love the fact everyone can discuss the Huskers and have different viewpoints, GBA(God Bless America). But ya reach a point where enough is enough. Rehashing the same old hatred and rhetoric gets stale in a big hurry. Disagreeing on a viewpoint is fine but becoming rabid is counterproductive. I grew up in GBR country and my son was born in COLO (oops) while I was in school. He has inherited my veracity for Husker Football without ever living there. And now by living in So Cal I get a lot of poo from just about all my friends that follow college football. I just smile and point to 5 NC's. The Huskers will be back whether with BC or someone else. I have faith in that and it won't change. The important thing is the State of Nebraska and the people. If they don't change and keep their basic beliefs then everything else is the small stuff. The people of the state and those of us who left and live elsewhere are what makes this so special. What other state has such a diverse population and such widespread support? Anyway, I think the recruiting is turning out pretty spectacular so far. Who knows, maybe these freshmen will turn out to be the equal of the 95 team, think positive. See ya

  18. I only got to see the player/coach interviews on Husker.com (the pay portion) so I at least felt some connection with the season. The players showed very little emotion and confidence in the interviews or on the televised games that I received. Granted, the players may be told to maintain some semblance of a appropriate demeanor but very few showed much real emotion and some times with good cause. I think BC at least showed a little humorous side at times and serious side too. I hope to see that change as the "SYSTEM" is digested more next year and the players become acclimated to it and the coaches. But it is like you say too, there needs to be solid leadership both from the players and coaches. IMO the coaches seemed to grasp what needed to be done but nothing happened between the sidelines and the players for a majority of the time. Room for improvement sure and hopefully it will be more apparent in the coming season.
