  1. I think the running backs needed six inch cleats. On Husker turf Cory would have run circles around the Pitt D. But both sides were slipping and sliding. 6 inches of rain has that capability. Thats more rain than I see here all year. The Blackshirts played great and except for the one run back I think the special teams did ok (oh yeah the early hit). That last pass into the endzone definitely ruined my best husker underwear though. I felt JD was throwing some excellent passes especially the dropped ones. A win is a win. GBR

  2. One last thing on this subject from me. I believe Dr. Tom tried to recruit great players and even though they may have had problems in the past he would overlook that and try to help them grow into upstanding young men. Nobody can make me believe different unless Dr. Tom himself said he only recruited to win games. The 1995 team had more problems than most but who can argue about what they accomplished. LP didnt even need to play in the Fiesta for a win but I know Dr. T just wanted to let him play for an increased chance to get drafted. After that it was up to LP. If everyone from around the country would send in articles from football players and programs in trouble the server would probably burn up. He who is without sin cast the first stone. I think a lot of people forget about that and try to cover up their own shortcomings.

Hemet isn't HELL but you can see it from here.

  3. Dave,

I live in a small town called Hemet about 20 miles southeast of Riverside(80 miles east of L.A.). It was smaller in 1984 when I moved here but low housing costs have made it grow but it still reminds me of some of the towns in Nebraska except the mountains.

Hope to hear from you more.

  4. Dear Dave,

Thanks for addressing all the issues that needed answering. I don't get the LJS anymore. The Husker HotPak got to California the day after they played the next game and I get better coverage on the web with Huskers.com and all of the great chat boards and sports sites.

  5. Didn't Solich recruit Mr. Incognito? Is that cleaning up the program? There have been other problem children in the past. Two Heisman trophy winners weren't given good citizenship papers with the HT. J. Rodgers needed some pull by B. Devaney to stay out of jail and on the team. The top twenty teams all have people that you wouldn't want marrying your sister/daughter (son) etc.. Look at BYU or AFA with the problems they are dealing with today. Even teams without as much publicity or notoriety recruit people that have problems. Granted, Miami recruited that guy that had 15+ felony arrests whoops. Is that win at all costs, depends on your point of view. Gary Barnett and Rick Neuheisel come to mind also. Have problems leave the program and go to another. You can rant and rave all you want about Nebraska football and the ills they may be suffering right now. I will always be proud to be a Husker born and raised, and having lived in California for twenty years I'm still proud of being a HUSKER GBR Nobody on this board or any other board except the Board of Regents makes the determination of who stays or goes. I think the majority of the fans in Nebraska and around the country are a little more inclinded to give Coach Callahan the benefit of the doubt for more than two years.
