  1. Born, raised and living  in Germany. Spent a year as an exchange student in the US starting in summer 1996. Dreamt of going to Florida or Cali. Ended up in Nebraska by coincidence. Best thing that ever happened to me. Loved it. Still do. The first game I remember watching was the shutout at AZ. Everybody was shocked, I was clueless. Prior to being in the US I had never watched football, ocassionally played Madden on C64 or Amiga. Ran "Fake punt pass" quite often cuz I thought this was the only passing play.

My host family was crazy about the Huskers, took me to the Missouri game that year. Ever since then I am hooked.

  2. Could someone please explain the thought process behind some of MR decisions. I mean why in the world don't you call a timeout before that 3rd and 7 play. Tell your offense to not stop the clock whatever happens. Don't throw the ball don't step out of bounds. Why wouldn't you do that? I don't get it. Is there a deeper thought to it that I don't see? And that wasn't the first problem with clock and game management. And the guy is coaching for 4 decades. How can this possibly be an issue? Screw ups happen but it seems like there is no strategy for these situations.

  3.

And even if it was all Armstrong's fault, it still doesn't explain why they turned around and called a pass play on 4th down.

Because you are more likely converting a 4th and 7 by throwing than by running. And when you turn the ball over on downs the clock stops whether you run or pass

  4. This coaching staff... oh boy. Seriously I had great expectations, for whatever reason, but I am giving up on them. Somebody in the game thread said the play calling looks like if someone with no clue is playing a game on madden. That's what I thought mind boggling plays over and over again. Should TA know better to not throw the ball in that situation? Absolutely, but why not just run a draw? Why not call a TO and talk it over? That's the third time I recall where they easily could and should have called a time out. Let the clock run down take a TO and talk it over. Tell TA to not throw the ball at any circumstances if you wanna call that QB sweep. I don't get it. They look like freshmen coaches.

And then look at UM or Florida. That happens when you spend the bug dollars. More talent? Probably. But you know what? Heluva lot better coaching. UM first back to back shutouts like 30 yrs, Florida absolutely kills Ole Miss, No. 3 in the nation.

Why don't we do that? Can't be the money. Even if you don't want to spend that much money going making it once in a four year tenure to a better bowl or maybe even playoffs is going to compensate spending more. This is so frustrating another two or three years wasted to a mediocre coaching staff.
