  1. Anybody else pumped up so much they could run against oncoming traffic? I can imagine Nebraska players butting helmets, and the rock music cranked right now. If Nebraska wins, this is Bo Pelini's biggest win to date. Memorial Stadium needs to be Proud, Loud, and Rabid. The team should be on lock and loaded and take down anything that moves mode. I keep getting this feeling the Blackshirts are going to have a Breakthru day. All fired up.

Hey, can you sit down, please? I can't see the game...

    :laughpound Good one, blue hair.

  2. Missouri's run defense vs. Nebraska run offense is going to be a huge mismatch in the Husker's favor. missouri has the number 23 run defense vs. Nebraska's number 5 run offense. That doesn't sound like that much of a mismatch until you look further. Missouri hasn't really played anyone that runs the ball effectively. The two best run teams Missouri has played are Illinois (number 27 run offense) and San Diego St. (number 37 run offense). Against Illinois, Missouri gave up 200 yards rushing at an average of 5 yards a rush. That was the first game, so it wouldn't mean much as an isolated incident. But against San Diego St., Missouri gave up 250 yards rushing at an average of 7.5 yards per rush. The numbers bear out that Nebraska has a significantly better rushing game than either of those two teams.

Missouri's defensive strength is pass defense. While Nebraska showed last week that they can be effective in the pass game, I think it is clear that their offense of choice is rushing. Given the performances of both teams this year, I just don't see how Missouri is going to stop Nebraska's running game. And Nebraska's defense is like Missouri's, but better. a very good pass defense and an average rush defense; the difference being is that Missouri does not have a serious rushing offense, ranking 79th in the nation.

We win, and we cover the spread...

I really hope you're right about the outcome of the game, but I don't think we can draw that much confidence from those numbers.

As for the Illinois game, you have to admit that Mizzou's D adjusted at the half and shut down Illinois's run game for the most part in the second half.

And to be fair, those San Diego St. numbers aren't quite as telling as they look at first sight. Ronnie Hillman got 228 yards on 23 carries for an average of 9.9 YPC. Two of Hillman's runs went for 93 and 75 yards. That means that 168 of his 228 yards came on two carries. Of course those two carries still count and Mizzou gave up those big plays, but it's not as if Hillman was just gashing Mizzou's D all day. In other words, he only averaged 2.8 YPC on those other 21 carries. Again, those yards still count, but they happened on two significant breakdowns instead of repeated breakdowns throughout the game.

Taariq needs to hit the training table as soon as he gets here.

You know with our training facilities and coaches that we will get him to where he needs to be. I say by the time fall camp roles around he is up to 200 pounds easy. And I think we will either redshirt or greyshirt him(depending on how the rest of our class turns out), and by 2012 spring practice he is exactly where the coaches want him as far as his physical frame.

Hide the wives and daughters, kid is a good looking kid. I got a mancrush on him.

Welcome aboard. You will win a MNC during your career at NU.

You forgot to include this emoticon: :hitit

Just so everyone is clear, the above helmet image has been available online for over a year. I stumbled on a website that has all kinds of theoretical alternate helmets for different teams and they all had the same style with the black visor on it. I just looked for that site again, but couldn't find it. But check out this site that uses the exact same graphic style. So obviously this didn't come from the athletic department. I doubt Nexus meant it that way, but I just wanted to make sure that nobody thought that there is a chance of seeing the above helmet Saturday.

I heard about the all-red uniforms Monday through a friend in the athletic department. I didn't post it on here because I didn't want to get all of the skeptics dumping on me (but I understand because I always roll my eyes when people post inside info based on "sources"). Anyhow, not 100% sure this is the case, but I can say that this is consistent to what I've heard from my friend in the athletic department.

My friend also told me last week that Husker Vision wanted to have a special video of NU-UT highlights from the Big 12 title game last year set to this song right before the tunnel walk. But he told me this week that TO nixed that idea. Too confrontational I guess, but I think it would've been sweet. I noticed that Unsportsmanlike Conduct on 1620AM opened yesterday's show with this song, so maybe they heard that this idea was nixed as well. Or maybe it was just an amazing coincidence.

  5. "Opponents have picked off 10 Nebraska passes."

    Uh, no they haven't.

I registered as "mizzouforlife" (thought he might actually read my comment if I used that name) and corrected him. He edited his story as a result. He also mistakenly said NU has lost 9 fumbles when it's actually 7.

  6. Somewhat on this topic, I just heard Kevin Kietzman via stream out of Kansas City (I think) go on a long rant about how much he hates Nebraska fans and how terrible and arrogant they are. Dude sounded like he was about to break down and cry at a couple of points. He said that Matt Davison had come on their station earlier today going off on how terrible the KSU coaches and fans are, so he decided to finally go off on NU fans. He said everybody knows that NU fans are the worst, but for some reason everyone is scared to say it publicly. Sounded like he considers himself a kind of hero for having the courage to stand up and say what everyone else is thinking.

Also interesting was that he got calls from other Big 12 fans saying how much they hate NU and how every week this season there are fan bases of 11 other Big 12 schools rooting hard for whoever is playing NU.

I knew the remaining Big 12 schools were bitter against NU, but wow.

  7. Where is the Texas chick who had tears in her eyes and mouthing moving line "Oh My Gosh"?

The only thing better than a dissapointing win for the Huskers is a devasting loss for the Longhorns.

Oh yes, UCLA bathed in the tears of the Texas fans yesterday.

UCLA sent a strong message to Texas, you don't belong in the Pac-10. lol

    You mean this girl?

  8. So after watching Locker's highlight tape, he has a cannon of an arm and has a bunch of 10-15 yard scrambles. Show me where he breaks one off and separates.

Zac Lee looked fast against Arizona. Need I say more?

I'm sorry, but Locker puts Lee to shame in every aspect of his game. That Locker run against AZ was impressive. Give the guy credit.

  9. Were it not for DWash being booted from the team, we may not have seen freshman Henry (Outlaw) Josey until next year.

Freshman Henry Josey scored on three of his first four carries and Blaine Gabbert completed his first 15 passes in Missouri's 50-6 rout of McNeese State on Saturday night.

Josey had 112 yards on seven carries, 105 coming in the first half. He was untouched on a 62-yard scoring run, had a 34-yarder for his first carry of the game, and scored twice - both times untouched - from 6 yards for Missouri (2-0).

Wow, sounds like he's really good as long as he doesn't get touched.
