This has been a big frustration of mine this year.  I would have thought we would have had way more wide open WRs.  We have told talent at the position.  We had a good coach teaching rout running.  We had two coaches who supposedly were good at designing a passing attack.

But, we ended up with WRs having to constantly catch balls with tight coverage or in traffic.

    It always puzzled me.

What always made me crazy was the fact that we were constantly running 4 yard routes when we needed 6 yards for a first down.

We need to stop recruiting soft minded California kids.  That's not how we're gunna get Nebraska back to where it needs to be.  Gotta have tough kids with grit and attitude.  No big loss here.  I also lost all respect after he went after TA.  That kid gave every game his all.  What a great leader.  He was the only reason we even won 9 games last year.  This dude can go kick rocks.

While I’m not disagreeing with the “soft minded”California kids theory, I think it’s more important to recognize the fact that under Riley we have been recruiting players that were first and foremost only interested in playing here to pad a resume and move on to the NFL.  They saw that he had developed players for and probably had many contacts in the pros and didn’t give a damn that his college teams never amounted to squat.  When I was in high school I didn’t know anyone who wouldn’t give their left nut to put on the uniform....need to get back to that.

decided by a last-second score (and aided by a couple of calls that were between iffy and atrocious).

One of the worst calls in the history of college football. Maybe THE worst. I still wonder whether that ref was crooked. I mean, how could he *possibly* make an honest mistake like that? There's just no way. He was right on top of the play with a perfect view. And the other ref should have been able to see the OB catch. Total bullsh#t. The refs literally gift wrapped the game for Joe Paterno.

I bought my custom t-shirt in late '80s ...... Beaver field layout. L shaped instead of normal 53x120yds rectangle field !!!!! Worn out years ago (destination: paint rag).

Not exactly but similar idea .........

  4. If we had a qb that could make the most basic throws in the game, this "air raid" as you call it, woulda lead to an addition couple touchdowns, kept them off the scoreboard, and the resulting 28/35-0 halftime lead woulda been deemed as genius.

I think on some of these "basic" throws like the middle screens, Armstrong may be too short to see over the lineman and place the ball accurately. I still love all of the things he brings to the game, just think coaches will start/continue to recruit taller qb's to be able to make those throws. It may work out, it may not. Part of why I love college football so much, player turnover. My love for Nebraska Football however, is DNA related.

I think we learned that Nebraska is still good at beating teams ranked below #30, and for some fans, it still won't matter that we can't win championships as long as Bo can get to 9 wins.

The same people that complain about Bo would have been screaming for Osborne's head in the 80s and early 90s. Do we need some changes? Sure. Let's get a new OC (one willing to bench TA). But we don't need a new HC.

That's BS! Pelini has a huge image problem. What coordinator in their right mind wants to come work for that asshat? Second, what kid that is being recruited by Pelini and other wants to play for a guy that acts like he does? Yes, we need a new OC. We also need to quit giving up 50+ in big games. This isn't a small sample of work we can look at. We have 7 years of winning games we should and losing virtually all the games that are close or we are underdog. Keep Pelini and accept 9-4 with a long-term spiral downward.

    SUPERBUNNY

  6. injuries are part of every season...Bo has lots of other issues.

We have an unusual amount of injuries this season.

But how many can you truthfully blame it on S&C

Then again, how many can you seriously blame on the head coach?

  7. I am really impressed with what has has been able to do with what he inherited. Keep up tue good work Bo. Recruiting is a lot better too.

pass whatever your smoking this way.....

He is not the recruiter Cally was, and he inherited a decent amount of talent (look at all the NFL picks over the last 4 years).

No matter if you support Bo or not, lets atleast be honest about it.

Recruting talent doesn't mean squat if you can't do jacksh#t to develop the talent you just recruited. And since Cally hasn't been here the last 4 years (and Bo has) what makes you think any of them would have even sniffed the NFL if he had stayed. I don't understand your line of reasoning....and I am being honest about it.

  8. Count me in as a guy who would like to see the seaded plus 1 as Herbie suggested. I don't want a big mess of a playoff but would like to see the top 4 decide it on the field.

Absolutely no to playoffs.....besides what you are suggesting only shifts the debate to who the top 4 teams will be. And end up with the same arguments about why team A has the tougher path to the championship and team B had the easier trip. No matter how you slice it, it still remains subjective and someone's panties are going to be in a bunch. :dunno

  9. Carl should answer every question with a one word answer "STOUT"

How do you feel the defense is playing? STOUT.

How do you feel the younger players on defense are picking up the scheme? STOUT.

What kind of beer do you like? STOUT.

How do you like your women? STOUT.

See? It kind of breaks down there.

Speak for yourself......bone is for the dog....meat is for the man!!!!!

  10. I would think all the players from teXus would want to leave. Anybody ever been to texus?? sux most parts :)

florida/cali mucho better???? and they probably get all the good texus recruits too :D

    GBR

If California is so much better why are people leaving is droves and moving to Texas???? Just for the record, the biggest reason high school players leave Texas is because a large majority of them HATE UT and wouldn't go there even if they were offered. There's a reason why they are sometimes referred to as "teabaggers".
