  1. Not Husker related, but interesting none the less as it relates to big time programs and their coaching search. This writer says that going after Kirby Smart is a poor move for UGA and that they can and should do much better if they want to get their edge back. Says it's an unambitious hire. WTH. Kirby is unambitious how would Riley rank?

I'd love Kirby at NU. I can't imagine this being a low hire. Goes onto to say this at the end. Makes me think of NU's hire and that SE wasn't really concerned about winning.

But if thats the way it ends up a quick and easy hire that carries tremendous risk well know Georgia sees itself less as a competitor to Alabama and more of a wannabe. And well have to wonder whether it was really Richt who lost control.

  2. You need to make sure you use a monospace font for the table or use the "code" macro, then it'll work like normal

Opponent Points | Avg. Points | Ranking | Yards | Avg. Yards | Ranking
    BYU 33 | 34.2 | 39 | 511 | 428 | 46
    S. Alabama 9 | 24.8 | 95 | 332 | 360 | 102
    Miami 36 | 28.9 | 65 | 511 | 401 | 65
    So Miss 28 | 41.7 | 9 | 458 | 535 | 8

    Minnesota 25 | 22.6 | 103 | 366 | 357 | 103
    Northwestern 30 | 20.7 | 111 | 333 | 333 | 115

    Michigan State 38 | 33.4 | 44 | 491 | 399 | 68

  3. It's so sad watching Tommy in this post game presser. He knows 100% that this loss is on him. Can't help but feel bad for him, just wish he could fix it, but he's only seeming to get worse as the year goes on. He's a true stand up guy though, no beating around the bush, just directly owning up to his performance this game, where most people in his position wouldn't.

  4.

End this experiment and call Les Miles right away. Reily does not even have a winners look on his face. He already looks defeated.

    Really? Les Miles?

I don't see why not... I mean the last person we got from LSU worked out so well, why not give it another go? I'm sure they have nothing in common in regards to their attitude/culture

  5. Good 'ol Pelini being Pelini...

    http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/bo-pelini-draws-two-unsportsmanlike-conduct-penalties-in-final-second/article_a18a6a3e-8b22-11e5-b3ee-1f246cc1deb1.html

I find it hilarious the way the announcers react about "Never seeing anything like this" and the other announcer chiming in with "Unless you're a Nebraska fan". And then later on they both suggest that Pelini should be escorted off the sideslines by the local police

Glad we don't have to deal with this guy anymore, haha

  6. Baylor, TCU, Tech would all score 80 on us.

Oh man could you imagine our pass defense against the BIG12? Not only 80 points per game, but 600+ yards each game. The only reason we are keeping games close in the B1G is because most teams are so rush/power heavy with only decent passing attacks and we're pretty good against the run. Just typing this out makes me realize that our (nearly) last place Passing D could be so much worse statistically...

    :ahhhhhhhh

  7.

    Who was TA throwing to?

Allen was open in the back of the end zone not enough arm on that. Stupid play but saw what was there

    He wanted to play hero

Wanted to play hero? Allen was literally wide open in the back of the end zone, TA just severely under threw the ball. If he gets the right throw there it's the easiest TD catch of Allen's life.

The decision was the right decision, just a poor throw

  8. Saw this on reddit this morning, hadn't seen any discussion about it over here.

    http://collegefootball.ap.org/article/john-papuchis-go-it-alone-dc-last-game-nebraska

"It never really has been clearly laid out there," Papuchis said. "A lot of people look at the role of defensive coordinator and think that the only role was calling (the game) on Saturdays."

Make no mistake: Pelini was in charge on game days.
Pelini formulated game plans through discussions with Papuchis and other defensive assistants. Papuchis said his primary roles were running player meetings, organizing practices and installing game plans.

Needless to say, the bowl game should be pretty exciting, if at worst just to see what Paps can actually do. What if the defense plays like absolute superstars? I don't expect it, but it would definitely mix things up and give us something to talk about!!

  9. Can't help but think we take a knee to end the half if Martinez is in the game. It's nice not having to be so worried about that ill-timed INT or fumble right there.

It's nice not cringing every time the ball is thrown knowing there's a 50/50 chance it will be picked off

So now see that we have depth at QB and all of the sudden it's trash on TM time? Keep in mind that he's been looking pretty good passing wise this season. And with only 1 INT, I'm not sure why you'd be cringing thinking that every other ball is going to be picked off...

I'll agree, I'm excited to see that TA looks like the real deal, but that doesn't mean it's time to throw TM under the bus

  10. I was yelling at Pelini to bench him.

It isn't that Taylor isn't any good. The problem is, he was rattled beyond belief.

Yeah.......benching a quarterback helps reassure him and get rid of the rattled play. eyeswear2allthatsholy

Some of the stuff you guys are coming up with tonight >>>>>

It might be different from sport to sport. In hockey it's standard to bench a goalie who's gotten rattled by a lot of goals. It gives him the chance to recover. I haven't typically seen that done in football, but I wouldn't rule it out. Maybe tell him he's only sitting for one series while he refocuses. Maybe it could work in football if it works in hockey?

In Hockey it's done more to stop the bleeding and give the team a fighting chance... You never see the goalie come back in the game after being replaced... Even if the replacement is even more inept...

Seeing RK3 in this game for an extended period of time could have very well made it 84 - 17 or something for the final. Lets not forget... our offense wasn't terrible today, just no way they could keep up with 500+ rushing yards being given up. 31 points wins us 90% of our games. This was all on the defense

  11. Not that this disaster was TMart's fault, but no successful program can continue to give away 2-3 turnovers a game to the other team and expect to be a top program. At this point I would be SHOCKED to see a game with no Martinez fumbles. I'm glad his passing mechanics have improved, but if he can't stop the incesssant fumbling then put him at WR and bring start the Armstrong Era.

Because we have a guarantee that Tommy is better at holding onto the football than Taylor.

Not a guarantee... but it's pretty pathetic that Taylor has led the FBS in fumbles for all three years he's played... Taylor is amazing, but this is beyond insane. He's gotta get a handle on keeping the football

  12. I didn't think it hit him, but the replays weren't conclusive (enough) to overturn the call on the field..At least that's how I tried to splain it to my son as he was freaking out.

From the one angle you didn't have conclusive evidence...but from the other angle it was clear that it didn't even come all that close.

That one angle you're talking about is why I don't think it touched him..But when they showd it yet again..I was concentrating more on how the ball was spinning (And somehow thinking I was expert enough to predict the rebound spin against a flat surface versus the end of a shoe covering a toenail that needed to be trimmed last week)..I still need another look.

If you watch the angles again...

the first view ( from behind Ameer ) you see the ball questionably hitting his RIGHT foot and a foot or so from his LEFT heel. ( possibly hits right, completely misses left)

the second view ( slightly infront ) you see the ball possibly hitting his LEFT heel and nowhere close to his RIGHT foot. ( possibly hits left heel, completely misses right foot )

So... combining the factual evidence from the two views, you can conclusively say that the ball never hit Ameer on that play.

Mr Zebra and his cohorts apparently lack the deductive reasoning to combine to bits of video and see that what they thought was the football hittting Ameer was actually just two separate perspective illusions which are both 100% invalidated by the other video

  13. Does anyone have a clip? I was at the game so I couldn't see a replay... But from where i was it looked like it was a good 6 inches to the right of his foot.

If you can see ESPN 3, you can see it here: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/source/espn3/id/560213/

    Happens at the 02:18:15 mark

I'd capture just the bit and splitscreen the views and youtube it for everyone... but for some reason my flash capture stuff only wants to download the entire game as I stream it, not just the parts I'm actually watching. And unfortunately I don't want to wait 2 hours for that lol
