  1. Missouri at 16 is a joke. I'll be surprised if they're even ranked at the end of next year. They only lost their QB and best defensive player.

    :yeah

Missouri also returns nearly their entire 2 deep, Gabbert is a much bigger loss than Smith. Smith was a great player but MU didnt miss him when he was out this year with an injury and DE is probably the deepest position on the team.

Gabbert hurts, but as someone who knows the team up and down, i would not be suprised at all to see them ranked at the end of the year. Franklin played a decent amount and in nearly every game.

With all that said, preseason rankings are bunk in August. So at this point in January they are just plain stupid

Missouri also has to play a full slate of South teams this year instead of just 3. They are at Oklahoma (who could be the preseason #1 team), Texas A&M, and (I think...) Oklahoma State, who has Blackmon and Weedon coming back.

  2. To me what doesnt make sense is why Bo was informed of this DURING the game. Seriously the guy is coaching the biggest game(to that point) of the year and someone is telling him about Taylor getting a call from his Dad while he was in the locker room.

This shouldve been handled after the game...... then on Sunday Bo calls daddy and lets him know that he doesnt do that ever again.

Maybe Bo asked what the hell was taking so long with treatment and/or an update and someone had to tell him that Taylor insisted on getting on his phone. Taylor got what he deserved, it sounds as if everyone has moved past it. Hopefully both parties can grow from it.

  3. It's "Insider" content, so I won't post the entire article, but they have us winning 35-20. That's not why I wanted to post this. This is what they have to say about our safeties:

"If the Huskies can get a body on undersized WLB Lavonte David, there is reason to believe Polk can have success against Huskers Ss Rickey Thenarse and P.J. Smith, who have struggled to wrap up and secure tackles."

Have they watched a freakin game since September? They did this all year when it came to the safeties and it pisses me off. Then again, I guess I'm the sucker that's paying for "Insider" content.

  4. That was a poorly written article without much substance. What did anyone learn from it? Bo Pelini has a temper? Shocking! Mark Mangino ALSO has a temper?! Match made in heaven!! Kansas scored 70 on Nebraska? I don't buy it.

I don't fault the OP for posting it, because it's relevant, but I question why that guy would waste his time writing it without any hint there was interest on either side.

  5. While Suh is certainly deserving of both All Pro and Rookie of the Year. I think it will be difficult to overcome Bradford. The QB of a team that went from 1 win to 7 or 8 and a possible Play off birth (in the woeful NFC West, yet a potential PO birth) and the Lions have won what 4 games. I think the Higher Profile position on a team that did better probably wins Rookie of the year.

I do hope I am wrong.

Well, considering they have an Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and a Defensive Rookie of the Year Award, it's pretty irrelevant.

  6. I think the most impressive part of what Lavonte did was to be in the right position to make plays even when he wasn't fully comfortable with the defense. That shows great football instincts and isn't something you can teach. He's only going to get better.

  7. Forde has bashed Nebraska's colors, stadium, and mascot plenty of times. He said that he was "unimpressed" with our gameday atmosphere because Memorial Stadium looks "neolithic" and that scarlet was annoying or grating or something. So, whatever, he's another angry little Missouri grad. And looking at it, he hates red and classic uniforms. Which figures. Picks against Penn State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, etc.

  8. I like them, but I take them for what they are. Usually kind of a light show, where they talk sports and goof around. I think if you are in your mid-late 30s and older, you don't get them or like them, if you are younger, you generally get them and like them. I am 30 and pretty much everyone I know listens to them and loves the show. I don't think Schick is a hater, he is surprisingly cordial and neutral for being a Colorado grad, IMO. Bahe is a goof, but is entertaining. If you don't like them, don't listen. If enough people agree, their numbers will drop and they will be off the air.

I turned 27 yesterday, so I don't think age is the deciding factor. As to "if you don't like it, don't listen", the OP asked for peoples' opinions. Opinions were given. No one was whining that they should change or get kicked off the air.

  9. The matte black helmets the Nike schools wore for a few games look bad ass. But that is for schools like Oregon, our uniforms should always stay the same

I agree those black helmets look awesome! But I have always wondered why is it that other schools can have alternate uni's but Nebraska has to always keep the same? I mean I love tradition but whats wrong with have 1-2 games a year where we have an alternate jersey? I mean I love how we wore the retro ones for the 300th sellout why can't we do that each year but have it be different whether be retro or newly designed ones? I think that is the fun for the kid that play. I do agree that we do not go to the extent of Oregon having a different jersey each game but really wants wrong with having 1-2 games alternate jersey each year?

Teams with tradition don't need to resort to gimmicks like that.

  10. hi everyone. my first post on this website. asking a media question here. is there anyone else who listens to morning A.M. radio getting tired of schick n nick(mainly schick) always starting rumors and flamin topics about bo? i sure am. thank god for iowa and thier troubles. maybe they can flame them up a little. i know its a boring time for sports guy but i think schick sometimes is just a hater. is it just me or do others feel the same? they are funny at times but i think sometimes they are hurtful. opinions?

    i quit listening to them,

    x2

  11. All Bo has to do is feed the media some BS-off the shelf response to the questions. "I spoke to Miami's AD about some recommendations" or "I respectfully declined an interview". He is hell-bent on keeping people in the dark about what happens (starting QB, Miami job, etc.) It's almost as if he's is daring someone to ask him these questions that he's previously said 'no comment' to, so he has an excuse to act the way he does.

He needs to realize that he has a job as a HC and reporters have a job to report, both of them are going to do what it takes to be proficient at their profession. The media is going to dig until they get something, give 'em something Bo.

He already addressed it twice and said he wasn't going to address it again. If a reporter wants to keep asking, he shouldn't be surprised when it blows up in his face.

  12. Received an email just a bit ago from a good friend that is a huge Hawkeye fan (why he would send this to a Nebraska fan is beyond me). The email stated that Hampton has been kicked off team for drug related incidents, and that a number of other starters have also failed drug tests (he mentioned names, but I don't want to make any assumptions just yet). He also told me that Brandon Wegher (Sioux City Heelan) has been granted a release from his scholarship, and that he is looking to transfer to NU. Although this kid is a real head case, he is a pretty nice player, and might be a decent addition if Heard never makes it to campus. We'll see what comes of it.

When Wegher was released from his schollie, he was prohibited from transferring within the Big Ten, including Nebraska, according to one of the DSM papers.

  13. Totally agree Junior4949,

Bo has gotten Nebraska back on track, there is no question about that. But we are not back. Still a ways to go to even think that way.

He does not deserve a pay raise until he actually accomplishs the goals set. He did not even reach his goals this year.

Hell none of them deserve what they are making as far as I am concerned.

None of them deserve 1/8th of what they are paid. No college coach should make more than ca. $200,000 a year.

People who work 100 hours a week generating millions of dollars should not make more than 200,000?

    Someone's bitter.

Nope. Someone is a professor who thinks sports at universities need to be placed in proper perspective. And, coaches work more like 70 hours a week (typically) --- obviously some more, some less. In the summer, it is more like 30-40, tops. And...$200,000 is a major wage by anyone's reckoning. Finally, 90% of the coaches "generate" more cost associated with what they do than revenue --- the overwhelming majority of whom do so measured in the 1-3 million dollar deficit per year range.

And what? YOUR perspective is the proper one? You realize your perspective isn't universal, right?
