i think we are all forgettting about Khiry Cooper.... he is going to be something special... and we did the right thing by red shirting him... i know this was caused mainly by his baseball ability but he is flat out fast... we will get a glimps of him in action this year on the baseball diamond... and that my folks is one of the few deep threats we will have next year

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if he plays baseball doesn't he lose a year of eligibility? I thought that if you played any sport in a year, you lost that year of eligibility, whether you were on scholarship for that sport or not.

Pretty sure they are handled separately:

    Redshirt Definition

The term "redshirt" is used to describe a student-athlete who does not participate in competition in a sport for an entire academic year. If you do not compete in a sport the entire academic year, you have not used a season of competition. For example, if you are a qualifier, and you attend a four-year college your freshman year, and you practice but do not compete against outside competition, you would still have the next four years to play four seasons of competition.

Each student is allowed no more than four seasons of competition per sport. If you were not a qualifier, you may have fewer seasons of competition available to you. You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition.

Not sure it matters. He could go pro baseball after his Junior season and will likely go after his 4th year so I think he won't be in school for 5 years even if he could.

I believe they are handled seperatly as well... I remember a few years back Kristi Woodard from Creighton played 4 years for the basketball team and then when she was finishing her degree she played one year on the volleyball team after she was done with basketball.

  2. I go to Bellevue West and I think QB Tyler Seals and WR's Greg Hardin and Evan Herring are some good looking players :)

Ahh my old stomping ground! They still got the Mark Traynowicz memorbilla in the trophy case in the lunch room? Coach Faiman is a great football coach as well! I loved playing for that guy. Who coaches wrestling there now? When I wrestled...it was Coach Hassell.

I graduated in '06 from BW, Coach Dann Jameson was the wrestling coach my senior year, but i didn't keep in touch and i heard they had a new guy the following year so i'm not sure who is there now

  3. I just can't stop thinking about the possibility of this day long 'event'. With all due respect to TO Bull and another thread, THIS will be The Great Husker Nation Family Reunion of 2008! We need to pack it all... the stadium, the soccer field, the horseshoe, the Champions Club, all of it!!! Think of the atmosphere... Think of the recruits!!! World's best fans... it's our turn!

    God, is it Spring yet!!!

    GBR

that would be awesome, a packed house, packed husker pavillion with the game broadcasted on the big tv they have out there with picnic blankets of people and kids running around... that would be a great atmosphere

“Bo Pelini is the next Bob Stoops,” said Tony Barnhart, longtime college football writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “A guy who is fundamentally sound who has been around great coaches all his life, who knows what a championship football team is supposed to look like.

“The fact that he was able to come here and have that defense ready to play with all the things going on, I think speaks well to him and his ability to run an organization.”

Thats great and all...but I was having this conversation with my brother while watching their bowl game. Does anyone else think that Stoops is not that "next level" type of coach? He has his team in it virtually every year but they can never seem to win it. (except with John Blakes players) And PLEASE dont start drawing comparisons to T.O. he had his teams "in it" alot more then Stoops IMO.

If we 'only' get to 10 win seasons, and winning the conference every other year, and I hear someone complain...well, you better be able to run, fast.

Really. Winning a national championship takes as much luck as anything else.

Yeah, if we are "in it virtually every year"... i think i'd be down for that, a BCS bowl game every year is better then watching other teams play while we sit here and stare blankly at the TV because we aren't playing til next fall

  5. well 1997 Nebraska put 2007 Nebraska to shame... who would have thought?

I did notice that the 2007 Huskers in the simulator does have a terrible rushing defense like they did this year (Ahman Green had TD rushes of 45, 19, 5 , 51 , and 84 yards... with a grand total of 32 carries for 453 yards)

    well that was fun

  6. i'm a BW alum, and the one thing i know is i'm not surprised he did not play well against Millard North, BW have had the number 1 or two quarterback 3 years in a row, and Millard North always seemed to have their number... they've knocked BW out of playoffs like 4 or 5 years in a row

  7. I am rooting for Pelini, just look at that defense this year with all that NFL talent....lmao Even Alabama hung 30+ on them and they have an offense almost as bad as our own. Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas all hung 30+ on a team that was supposed to rival the '92 Crimson Tide defense. Good luck, you might be begging for Callahan back in a couple of years. I cannot believe Tom would not think twice about Grobe or Johnson, that decision will come back to haunt you guys.

If i remember correctly Kentucky went into 3OT. They scored 26 in regulation.

Arkansas went into 3OT. They scored 28 in regulation.

    Nebraska let over 30 in 8 of its games this year. (49, 40, 41, 45, 36, 76, 31, 65)

If Pelini is indeed our new HC.... i think its going to be an upgrade.

  8. does TO announce it ASAP (say tuesday or wedesday) or does he drag it out til after the SEC championship game?

I think he interviews everyone off of his list and then sits down and makes a choice later on down the road. I would say no later then next Monday. Just my guess.

that does make more sense...this whole holiday thing has thrown me off i forget tomorrow is monday so i guess NEXT monday isn't all that far

  9. I think the "slap in the face" the first time was because when Pelini was "interviewed" the first time it was nothing more then a "hey i said i'd interview you and here it is " token type interview... that was the slap in the face....

If TO interviews him and in his judgement does not think Bo is the best man for the job... then that should not be a 2nd slap in the face

  10. TG will probably go to Atlanta, IDK maybe

It is said that Harvy Pearlman and TO are on the plane that went to Baton Rouge... it then went to atlanta, only think that makes sense is thats where the search firm is, barry aint dead he's the AD at Wisconsin...

PS this should probably be in the rumorville forum

  11. LSU had a game yesterday so I doubt he would come here today

it is possible he COULD have come here even if they had a game last night in Baton Rouge.

UFC fighter Houston Alexander had a fight this past saturday in New Jersey, and was at a car show at the Qwest Center Sunday signing autographs....

not saying he was here or he wasn't just saying its possible
