  1. I wouldn't mind having AJ Bush still around, looks like he's starting at Illinois this year.

I was ok with the walk-on at 3rd string.  Being the backup just has me scared to death!

  2. Not sure there's a thread about this already, what are options for 3rd string now that Gebbia is gone?

Option 1 right now is Matt Masker, true freshman walkon.

Are there any other internal options out there?  Any kids that were QB's in high school that have switched positions?

The only one I know of is Wyatt Mazour.

  3.

Can someone please explain to me why it's so morally wrong for a university to back out of a scholarship offer, but it's completely acceptable for a recruit to bail for sometimes no reason?

Sometimes it's not, but in this case this is after the Athletic Director said we would honor all existing commitments the previous staff made.

The new staff even contacted Dillman and told him they wanted him at H-back.

So actually, this sums up to not making any sense unless, as others have speculated, it's academic eligibility issues that are forcing this. In which case I hope they continue to work with Riley through a JUCO.

That's why there's more to this story. Maybe another admissions issue was the 3rd strike.

Or we can believe a 17 year old's social media that goes against everything Coach Riley has preached the past 40 years.

Would it be better for Kevin to ride the pine for 2 years in a system the coaches don't think will work for him?

Wasn't our offer before he was ruled academically ineligible?

  5.

I think Saturday night proved that if Bo can keep his attitude to just "angry" during games, we have a better shot of coming back/competing in games. I did not notice any "psychotic raging maniac" moments during the game. He would yell at someone, but then get back involved in the game, which is where his mind should be.

I hope this continues. I think a ballistic Bo leads to blowout losses. I'd rather have a heartbreaking comeback loss any day over a 70-31 loss.

Again, this is a post that would have had applicable context about a year ago.

Bo has clearly changed those ways. Past tense.

Yeah, and Bo did the Harlem Shake before last season and I remember a few meltdowns last year.

I wanted to see his attitude in a road game when things were looking bad. He passed the test.

  7. Does anyone know the criteria for players getting granted extra years of eligibility? I heard Venric Mark was granted an extra year because he only played in 3 games this year. Martinez played in 4. Obviously he's not coming back, just curious.

Did Mark play as a true freshman and is that why it happened?

  8. I'm not saying he had an outstanding season, but he surely belongs on the honorable mention with or instead of Kenny Bell. There's only 15 WR's in FBS with more TD's than Enunwa.

    Enunwa 47 catches, 624 yards, 10 TD's

    Bell 51 catches, 566 yards, 4 TD's

  9. I just don't get the love for RK3. Has he had a successful drive since Purdue? Sure, the NW hail mary was a great play, but when you get the ball 75 yards away with a minute left on that drive and you only move the ball 25 yards in that minutes and the longest the ball traveled in the air was 7 yards, that isn't exactly successfully carving up the defense. Everyone keeps arguing that Tommy is playing because he is the future as if RK3 is better to win now but we are sacrificing it to groom a young guy. That is not the case, the team has a better chance to win and move the ball and score both passing and running with Tommy at QB. If you have really seen anything that leads you to believe RK3 would score more points than Tommy, then well, i don't know what you're watching.

One fair argument I could see is that RK3 may turn the ball over less, which is something that is fair to assume. But that just makes our offense go into 2009 mode. We score maybe 6 points against MSU with RK3 in the whole game, the difference is that we don't have 2009's defense. We need Tommy in the game to move the ball, he just needs to turn the ball over less.

Speaking of turnovers, does anyone else feel like we need to have a "Program" moment and make every offensive back carry around a football during all day long? I don't know how many more fumbles I can take!

  10. With 3 games to go in the season and Kellogg graduating/moving on from his playing days at NU, I would say it is still not a controversy.

With 4 to go we still had a great shot at the BIG championship game, so I think some urgency to mix things up a bit could have come in handy against MSU. I don't really care who they start now, we can't get the the title game.

  11. I think that RKIII brings more to the passing game and 2 minute drill. I think that TA, much like Martinez, while no Peyton Maning can throw well enough to keep D's slightly honest. Couple that with TA's ability to run and he is a more "complete" QB for our system. Not that he is more polished, just able to run more of the O, IMO, than RKIII. However, in our bowl against Arizona, IMO, Lee was more than serviceable in that game as a runner.

Had RKIII played more against MSU, I think their D would have really keyed on AA as the only run threat we had. They could have sold out completely to stop him.

Our QB's are averaging 3 yards a carry this year. TA's longest run is 15 yards. I don't think defenses are worried about him running as much as we think they are. I think Abdullah gets the same amount of rushing and we actually complete some passes if RKIII was in there.

I should have said ability to run the option within our system. I am hoping another year after knee surgery, he will be quicker and more confident in the repair. (not saying he is not)

I don't disagree with you on that. I just look at the game Saturday and wonder what would have happened had Kellogg started the 2nd half. Remember, the last time he was on the field, he completed the hail mary. Fans would have been excited. Maybe we rally? Guess we'll never know.

  13. Because we know TA is part of the future and RKIII has been a lifelong husker living his dream. The more RKIII plays, the more the staff thinks TA will want to transfer due to lack of playing time. RKIII isn't going anywhere and would not sacrifice the team.

I'm not saying Kellogg would have have been any better against Michigan State, but I do know he has earned the chance to play more than he has.

It's a shame it's come down to feelings as opposed to winning football games. TA was lost the MSU game there was no reason he should have been in there the whole game.

  14. I can't remember the writers name from the Miami paper (used to work for ESPN), but he made some interesting comments this morning at around 7:45 this morning on Mike and Mike.

When talking about Jonathan Martin, he referred to it as a Stanford/Harvard locker room.

When talking about Incognito, he referred to NFL locker rooms as being "a Nebraska style locker room"

Even though Incognito played at Nebraska, I don't really enjoy being lumped in on the thug side of NFL locker rooms. Just because Suh and Incognito came from Nebraska, that shouldn't quite put us in Miami U status.

  15. I'm just curious how many people would tailgate at Memorial Stadium and go in and watch the Jumbotron for good away games (Ohio State, Michigan, etc...).

This is just a fun what if, but if I could get in for $5 to $10 and watch a game with a few thousand fans while having a beer that sounds like a great time.

I'm pretty sure the University wouldn't have any of this (don't know if alcohol can be served on campus if the teams not there), plus extra workers and security would be needed.
