  1. Try this one on them. This is a chart of our 10 best Defenses since 1990.

The chart using the same Top 10 total defensive performances since 1990--the measure we used initially--is below, this time with the total number of plays each defense faced. Using that, you can see Nebraska's plays and yards per field goal (used three points rather than one because an offense never scores less than a field goal).

The results aren't very close given the sheer number of plays the Nebraska defense faced this season. On average, the Blackshirts forced teams to go 18.58 plays and 75.8 yards for every three points scored. How often do you see an 18 play drive? And that's just for a field goal. Touchdowns required over 36 plays on average. Just as a basis for comparison, Boise State--the top scoring offense in the country this season--scored three points every 4.67 plays. Houston--the top total offense in the nation--scored three points for every 39.68 yards gained.

I really really really wish we had an offense this year....

  2. I hope they try the "Baylor Strategy" and focus all on Suh and let Crick run up and down them.

Sounds like they're headed in that direction doesn't it? chuckleshuffle

The best part about that strategy is no matter what you do Suh will get his, but Crick's highlights will probably put him on the quick list for next year's Heisman race. :koolaid2:

  3. Does everyone think he will start as a true freshman or get redshirted? I hope they let him play right away he would be perfect to put in right after some Burkhead runs right up the middle. Heard looks like the biggest homerun threat we will have at RB since well.... Ahman Green I guess or B Jackson

  4. We have learned from this season that players will kill to play for Pelini, and once we get an offense at least half as good as the defense I forsee a NC in the future. Pelini is an absolute master at defense and we have a team full of hard working players. Even with the loss im proud to be a Nebraska fan.

  5. Watson should stay especially since he is at least trying to set the offense up around what talent we have instead of trying to run the same offense as last year, which would not work this year.

I agree with most people on this board about Cotton needing to go. During the KSU game, KSU broke through the line so many times and blew up Helu, and the line cant block off the corner for the strech and toss plays. Something there needs to change, and plus when you practice against possible one of the best defensive lines in the nation games should be easy compared to practice.

  6. You must not realize how bad CU is. We're going to put the hurt to them in a big way.

If we manage to stay within 21 of Texas, I'll be surprised.

If Oklahoma can stay within 3 points with Texas than we sure can. We are a good offense away from being the best team in the Nation, there really isnt any arguing that either with a solid offense we wouldve beaten VT by at least 2 TDs at least beat ISU, without the meltdown vrs TTU we are 10-0 and probably favored to beat Texas....but we dont have a good offense. Even without an offense id be surprised if this game is a blowout look at what people thought before the OU game.

  7. To be honest, I think that if we beat KSU and CU pretty easily and the offense has a pulse. I really like our chances beating Texas. I mean our DLine is amazing and can rough up Colt, plus we've shown that we can slow down a slot WR like Shipley (Murray against OU) and our run defense is pretty much the best in the Big 12. Plus, Texas pretty much always chokes once or twice a year. Hell we almost beat them 2 years ago basically without a defense. Maybe im way to optimistic but I think CU is a bigger threat than Texas because we always seem to let them stick around the whole game when we couldve easily won the game by the end of the first half.
