As a Hokie fan this was a great compliment by the commentator (Link above).

As a person that lived in Tulsa for 6 years I appreciate your school signing on to this two game series between our teams. Husker are great fans, and you know the game.

Those that are coming to Blacksburg I hope I get to see you at the tailgate on Friday night and share a beer and some laughs. We respect you and your team and hope that the Huskers have a great season (at least after we beat ya'll.)

And yes I still want someone to bring me a Corn Hat, I would wear it proudly during the game!

  2. OK VaTechies, after I park in Lot 15, where should I go to spend some pre-game time?

I am in lot 5. Is this good for pregame? What are the open container policies in the reserved lots? Will we have room to play Cornhole?

Here is the link to the parking lots http://www.hokietickets.com/parking.html

Lot 15 is a little bit of a hike to the stadium but you nice walk through the campus.

Lot 5 is a good location to the stadium. Most, if not all, of Lot 5's parking spaces are assigned so your parking pass may have a number assigned to it. Shouldn't have an issue with space for Cornhole.

No problem with open containers. They only request no glass bottles however it is rarely enforced.

  3. You all shouldn't feel bad that it takes you 20,000 more fans to get almost as loud as Lane Stadium. I hope Beamer has gotten the boys ready this game, but I know the crowd will be ready.

And I agree it's a little hard to talk smack with you all. I personally can't stand Texas, OU and for some reason really hate ISU.

Looking forward to a great game...and can one of you bring me one of those Corn Hats?

  4. Husker fans, the Hokie nation is excited to welcome you all to Blacksburg. Nebraska has a great and storied program and we are ready for a great tailgate and game.

The town is throwing a tailgate party Friday night and hope both fan bases show up in force.

I hope some of you all swing by Lot 8 prior to kick off for some frendly football talk, a cold drink, and southern generosity. Thanks again for ya'lls hospitality last year. I know the Hokie fans want to return the favor.

    Go Hokies!

  5. Being a hokie fan...the Hokie Respect has always been there...It's has become more of a way the AD can impose his rule on the fans. Example...rich donor doesn't like a cheer the band lead when our O gets inside the 20...he complains to the AD. The AD prohibits the band from playing the cheer....The AD justifies it as "Hokie Respect".

With the exception of those couch burning hillbillies from West Va, we welcome visiting teams and their fans. We look forward to meeting the Husker nation next year!

  6. I do think we'll beat VA Tech, I just have a feeling! It's a home game and hopefully a night game. The crowd will be into it and the team will be pumped. This will be the first national test under Pelini.

Obviously winning Big 12 games carries more weight. I do think we'll win a few we probably shouldn't and more than likely lose one or two that we shouldn't.

I've said this before, we will NOT lose to VT; that game is so winnable! Pelini knows that teams offense. 48-7 LSU over VT anyone? Our strength, offense. is every bit as able to put up 30+ points on that D as Lsu last season. I'll take our "inexperienced" D over their injury riddled offense anyday.

Ok folks, I am all about talking up my team....however, unless I missed something in Bo's contract, he didn't bring LSU's Defensive players with him. He coached a heck of a game against my boys but now he has a new group of players and the Hokies have one of their strongest O-Line in years.

Since we aren't meeting you at a bowl game...I think this will be great game. I don't see either team rolling over on the other.

I can't wait to get out there. I am looking forward to meeting the Cornhusker nation, and hope ya'll are able to make it to Blacksburg in '09.

  7. Of the four toughest games you mention, I'm actually most optimistic about VT. Brandon Ore got dismissed from the team last month. They have some good redshirt RBs that will probably start playing this year, but the good news is we get them early on the season, when they'll have virtually no starting experience. Not sure whether Tyrod Taylor or Sean Glennon will be the starter at QB this year. Maybe someone else has some more input on that one. I wasn't all that impressed by either of them last year and I don't think the coaching staff was either, since they switched them several times.

Anyway, the reason I'm optimistic is because this team was as inept at offense last year as we were at defense. It's hard to believe, given their record and final ranking, but all of their success fell squarely on the shoulders of the D. So they should be a relatively easy, early test for our defense, at least compared to some of the Big 12 offenses we'll face.

On the other side of the ball we're gonna have a much stiffer challenge. Even though they're losing a lot of defensive starters from last year's team, they always seem to reload. The good news is that we get them early in the year at our place. If you remember early last year (week 2 I think), VT went down to Baton Rouge and had their D run out of the building (48-7). I'm sure Bo remembers. This is all the more interesting because LSU wasn't a top tier offensive team last year. Hopefully we can pull off something similar, even though we're not 2007 LSU.

Don't sleep on the Hokies. Last year, the O-Line was mostly made up Redshirt Freshmen. Very young. Glennon is not a running QB and after the beat down we got from LSU we had to make the change. Taylor was a true freshman. He did about the best one could do considering the position he was placed in. In this off season he has stepped it up a notch. Just make sure your D have their ankles taped a little tighter than normal. This will be good game. We're making the trip out there. Looking forward to throwing down some cold ones with the huskernation!

  8. The Hokie fans are looking forward to getting out to Lincoln and watching, what should be, a great football game.

Can you all provide some suggestions for bars, local restaurants, and places that would be a must for folks that enjoy great food, cold beer, and FOOTBALL!
